Salem, IL(Zone 5b)

Received 2011 catalog from Ensata Gardens. Very high class, much like Schreiner's but with smaller pictures. Nice catalog nonetheless.

South Hamilton, MA

interesting to see a scattering of New England medians & MDBs on the Hildenbrandt site.

Mid-America catalog here today.

No fair, you are too close. It takes awhile to get to the east coast.

Pleasant Grove, UT

The catalog contains pictures of many Medians I would love to get. We'll have to see if I can resist.

Philadelphia, PA(Zone 6b)

Aitken's site is up; says that catalog is soon to be mailed.

Mid America sent me a catalog I recieved today. Because I ordered all those TB iris from them last year. Fat chance they have that I will be ordering again though I did open up the catalog and look at the pictures of the 2011 introductions.

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

Why won't you order from them?

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

Because I got really tiny rhizomes last year many of which are still not even growing this year. I ordered early enough and asked for my order to ship in July and they shipped them in August. They will never bloom this year. Plus since I was waiting for the mid America Order so that I could plant them and see how much room I had left, all my other iris orders were planted late too. So very little of what I planted might bloom this spring. All because I tried Mid America. Forget it, I am ordering from Schreiners like I usually do if I ever want to order again.

Pleasant Grove, UT

The rhizomes I recieved from Mid-America were smaller than they usually send but are growing well for me. The medians make almost instant clumps. Both Mid-America and Keith Keppel indicated in their catalogs that last year was the worst season weather-wise for growing quality rhizomes, wet and cool. Both apologized........I've already ordered from Keppel and may still order from Mid-America. I like theirs, Ghio's and Blyths the best.

Boise, ID

Try this one: wwww.candtirispatch.com they have over 3,200 varieties. I buy from them every year! :)

Philadelphia, PA(Zone 6b)

I've gotten iris from them as well - small but hearty. The only thing I didn't like was that they stapled the name marker to one of the leaves.

Philadelphia, PA(Zone 6b)

Stout's in OK is up as well...

I just received a Catalog from Winterberry Gardens but I have never ordered from them. I sent them money for a Catalog two years ago and now I get the Catalog. I do love the picture of one of their 2011 intros, LINDA LANG. Wow, that neon raspberry color. I do so love the vivid color irises.

South Hamilton, MA

I noticed that C & T have quite a few miniature dwarf irises.

One place I did buy from and just loved last year was ROCKYTOP iris. Since I was looking thry this thread just now, I just looked at their website. It said that Catalogs are to be mailed at the end of March but I haven't gotten mine yet. The website still needs updating to order for 2011 also.

Appalachian Iris Gardens is our own tntigger. She is a wonderful seller! You can find many of her photos in plantfiles.

Lewisburg, KY(Zone 6a)

Oh, good I didn't know that.

Also I have been looking on Ensata.com. I would like to add pink and white ones to the lavender I have. So many pretties to grow!

Philadelphia, PA(Zone 6b)

I have - very nice, hearty iris from Appalachian.

McGregor, IA(Zone 4b)

So many beauties out there! If i can only overcome the rot problem!

South Hamilton, MA

Do you have raised beds? Talk to the local iris society as well.

Lewisburg, KY(Zone 6a)

another question please? If you join the National Iris Society do they send out a nice publication? I am already in the Hosta and Daylily societies. Club fees at local and national levels run into money. Just wondering if it is worth it. Could someone send me an older one to ck out?
Thanks,
Teresa

The Tall Bearded Iris Society puts out a wonderful magazine. Check it out.

Lewisburg, KY(Zone 6a)

Hi, Paul
Are the publications by the Region?

South Hamilton, MA

The American Iris society puts out a quarterly magazine. If you join AIS you are automatically a member of the region. Regional publications vary.

Pleasant Grove, UT

TBIS Society puts out a national publication with many gorgeous pictures with good informative articles. Median Iris Society puts out a nice magazine if you are interested in medians. And then there is the AIS Journal. Each have some regional references depending on who writes the article. To many of us the magazines are the main benefit of membership. Some regions put out news letters. Ours doesn't. Hard to get volunteers to do these things.

South Hamilton, MA

See ISM newsletter at mass.irises.org perhaps it doesn't have the first dot. I forget as I have it on favorites. Comes out twice a year.

Pleasant Grove, UT

Lucy...thanks for the suggestion for the ISM Newsletter. I'm working in the yard today but will look tonight,

Hi, Iris-addicts

Thanks for all the good info here!

I've been out of communication on DG for a while and haven't visited the Iris forum in a couple of years. I just checked in to find out if any one knows of a good supplier of 'short bearded iris' and 'median bearded iris' (that is not too expensive) and who sells nice big rhyzomes?

I just need good growing selections that bloom early with the daffs and tulips. Mostly pretty blues, pinks and yellows with a little interest in the bloom. (I don't need the latest intros or the most exotic.)

If anyone has any suggestions for a grower/seller, please d-mail me...

Thanks for all the info on this post and the others too, by the way. I'm feeling like I'm getting that Iris fever again! t.

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks everybody for d-mailing good info to me.

I've had lots of fun going over the grower websites and the society webpages and have ordered a few new early blooming irises.

Hustisford, WI(Zone 5a)

So which ones did you order? Inquiring minds want to know! ~j

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)
