it says red turk's cap lily VVA. But if you look it has big open nodding almost trumpet shaped flowers. I really want to get this!!! in seeds or tuber.
Thanks for help
Carol
Can anyone ID this Lily
Is it a lilium michiganense?
You aren't the only one who likes this! YUM!!!
I am thinking that this is the red form of L canadense
Your photo looks like it is just growing by a roadside. We sure don't see those here!
Beautiful, whatever it is!
I also think it is the red form of L. canadense.
Although M. michiganense has similar foliage, its petals curve backwar towars the base of the flower.
I got the pic off of a calendar from 2010,it says Pocahontos Country, West Virginia,
I was born in WVA but don't remember those LOL all the lilies that I have researched have the petals that flare backwards not nodding ones like these..
If I can find the proper name and where to get it will let you all know.. I always want the things I can't have Boo Hoo!!

I might also be L grayii. I think it grows in the Carolinas
Definitely a red form of Lilium canadense. And a beautiful specimen. The species grows best where there is a constant, ready source of moisture, and friable, rich soil, in part shade to sun. You will probably see it in catalogs listed as Lilium canadense var. rubrum, or Lilium canadense rubrum. But even those will have varying degrees of color, from orange to red. The normal color of Lilium canadense is yellow.
As Mainiac say, Lilium grayi occurs in the Carolinas, and the flowers do not flare as much as L. canadense.

Well after doing alot of research and trying to find a bulb or seed of the Lillium Canadense and the L. Grayii or even the L. Michiganese. I am thinking from what I was told this is most likely the L. Canadense var. I would love to have this all 3 or even in seed or bulb but every retailer is out even online!!
Thanks everybody
Carol
