Can someone help me ID this perennial? It grows in a shady area. It's winter hardy to at least zone 4-5. It's about 30 inches tall. In the spring, it had more red in the leaves. Right now (in Madison, Wisconsin) it's sending these long, skinny flower stalks out with little red flowers on them. I hope someone can help me.
Help ID please!
Looks like Tovara Painter's Palette.
Persicaria virginiana, don't know which cultivar. See link and decide: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=persicaria&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=virginiana&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&searcher%5Bgrex%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search .
Thanks. I think that's right. I'll check the link to decide which one.
I'm not sure. Mine turned out to be Painter's Palette. Of course mine is no longer around, not to be seen again until maybe April or May. Did you check the link that greenthumb99 suggested?
