Front Yard Garden

Potomac, MD(Zone 7a)

I've been learning about front yard gardens and decided to give it a try here in Mary;land. The theory is that grass isn't so special, requires harmful chemicals to maintain, and just isn't that great overall. Flowers and plants are a lot prettier! So here's a photo of my front yard, with the house at the bottom of the picture, driveway on left. The bed is about 35' at widest point, 30' deep. I'm zone 7, good old Maryland clay, WSW exposure, mostly sun. Slight grade drop to street.

Here’s a list of the plants I have. (Any suggestions for arranging would be great.)

1 Mature birds nest evergreen 3x3x3
1 Mature helleri holly 3x3x2-½
6 Miscanthus
100 Bearded Iris
6 Peonies
9 Agastache, gallon size
8 Balloonflower, gallon size
9 Abelia, gallon size
5 Lavender, gallon size
Lots of Ajuga
36 Lamb’s ear
7 Helianthemum rock rose, gallon size
7 Clara Curtis daisies, gallon size
Underplant with daffodils, muscari, allium, shorter iris, crocus
3 Pink Yarrow - gallon size

I may add a couple of small evergreens for structure and winter interest.

The soil will be amended and tilled, then the fun begins.
