If you are wondering why I make reference to ‘Emma’s Texas Asagao Plantation’ . . . a friend of mine in Japan tells me my property and growing methods of Morning Glories is my ‘Texas Asagao Plantation’ . . . So, this has stuck with me.
I am growing around 700 Morning Glory vines this year. After culling some of my Cross grow-outs, and adding a few that I started later in the year balances back to around 700 vines. I am growing some new Japanese Morning Glories this year as well as many of my Cross Grow-Outs. I do numerous cross-pollinating every single day and as a result I can not possibly grow them out right away, so I pick and choose what I grow each year to start working on, and this happens to be one of those years that I have quite a few that I am growing out. For sure, this hobby keeps me busy with what has turned out to be a full-time job, but I so enjoy seeing these beautiful blooms every morning . . . especially my new additions.
Where do I grow over 700 Morning Glory Vines?
I have a very deep lot with about 300’ of Fence Area where I have MGs currently planted. This does not include MGs on many Trellises/Cages/ Stands/Pots/Bamboo Teepees and several areas growing on Lattice throughout my property. I utilize EVERY single available spot/area that I can throughout my yard
Growing and Crossing Morning Glories has been a full-time hobby of mine for a number of years now, which is mainly why I have so many growing this year. I currently take between 300 to 400 photos a day - which is the only way I ‘Really’ get to enjoy my incredible blooms. How else can you enjoy this many Morning Glories in such a short time every morning.
We all enjoy looking at photos of Beautiful Morning Glories, so I thought I would share some of mine with you.
Because I take so many photos and have so much to share, I will simply be listing as numbers. If one of the many photos is from a Cross, I will have an “X” next to the number. The numbers are my ID for the photos, and will not be in any particular order. The majority of these first photos are mainly my Crosses. I am now in the process of organizing a lot of Japanese Morning Glory blooms that I will post before very long.
Hope you enjoy these Beauties as much as I have . . .
