My fly traps have looked great all spring and much of the summer but we are having a heat wave (100+ for about 12 days and not cooling off much at night) and their leaves are turning black. They are in a tub of water and not too dry but just can't seem to handle the relentless high temps. Is this normal for them?
My pitcher plants are doing great, even the 2 purperea are making new pitchers.

Heat and VFT's
Your plants are beautiful. The traps only live a few months, so this may be their natural cycle. I am in temps in the nineties and my VFTs seem to be doing well. I do think they will be happier when the temps drop a little.
I hope its just a nat. process, they have done so well for me I would hate to have them die. I guess it makes sense that the traps made in spring would be dying now. I never got around to putting them into a large bog planter and now that will have to wait until they wake up next spring.

VFTs DO lose a few traps throughout the season. Don't sweat it!
