Just curious if this is normal for a Sago, the plant is about 15 years old and usually only produces one cone at a time.
I did cut away about 8 pups earlier this year.

That looks quite good. It's out of the ordinary but not that unusual. Have a look at this site for photos of some variations in Cycas revoluta:
