Every time I walk by my lily seedlings from the seeds you sent me, I think of you. I'll make sure I walk by that area 2-3 times today. Have a super day.

A very happy birthday to you!

Since I spend all my time taking pics of irises, I guess that's what I have to give you.

It's so nice you have a birthday during lily blooming season. Karma.

I had to wish you a very happy birthday. I'm starting to try species lilies because of some of your pictures and information in the lily forum

Gee, thanks everyone.

Polly, iris is the second genus I have the most species of, and your photos, always welcome. Iris minutoaurea has bloomed for the second year now. Not posting pics here until IB gets it's act together revamping their policy of photo copyright use.

I too have plants/plants from seed received from others. They are welcome reminders of the giver. They become even more special when the giver passes on, and I am able to extend their remembrance by gifting said plants (or progeny) to others.

Tggfisk, I suppose you didn't keep a record of that one either...

Nice though, and thanks for posting.
Looks like L. maculatum var. wilsonii.

Or, do I detect a bit of tilt to the flower, or is it completely upfacing?

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

No, not completely upfacing. I manipulated it a bit to get a good picture. It was that or drape myself over the timber at the edge of the bed, lol! The neighbors already wonder.

To tell the truth, I did keep records, but no one at my house ever leaves my stuff alone. Kinda maddening for some unnamed person to leave stuff all over and 'clean' mine up ya know. Garden journal, maps, receipts, my things placed out to take to work..you name it. It's all up for grabs around here. Ahh! to have a space to myself...one day. It's a dream of mine;)

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

"Not completely upfacing" makes sense. I did send you L. maculatum var. wilsonii x L. leichtlinii. Leichtlinii is down facing and yellow, while maculatum is truely upfacing and orange. I had hoped for characteristic expression more midway between the parents. Perhaps another from that seed lot will flower differently, but there isn't as much variation when crossing species as there would be when crossing hybrids.

I am truly looking forward to these in the next couple of years. I wonder how much height they'll achieve. I kinda like the ripply edges, too.
