What's Happening in your neck of the woods? Friends...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thought I'd move us over this fine almost spring day...

We came from here:

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1077282/

"M" what are runners - for your vehicle or floor runners...I might have missed something lol - guessing is fun..

Ann bet you look spiffy in your new jacket, getting new spring clothes sure does bring a smile...

Are you getting a sunshine kiss today? Cannot think after the week we've had that we truly will be getting rain/snow tomorrow, tell me it isn't so...guess sooner we get it sooner it will be over...how many days until spring?

I've planned if weather somewhat co-operates with me that I will get the pond up and running ..once that's done I feel like spring has arrived..don't you love the sounds of water splashing?

Keep looking at the greenhouse I pass daily to see if they are open..want to make sure when the lilac trees that are continuous blooming come out that I get there on time to purchase 3 or 4...so far, still closed...drats...

How's Cooper doing this morning?

Thanks for moving us. Haven't worn the jacket yet - will probably keep it in the closet for a few days.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Have any of you checked out the continuous blooming lilac trees?

Ann, saving your jacket for a special day is fun..

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

Ok sunny Alberta is true to it's name today however it's not that warm.
This weekend is the last competition for DD's Cheer team. After work dash to let out the dog and play with her before DH gets home and we dash to try and get a seat at the competition. Then Saturday am back to the competition untill about 1 pm.
Then the extra $ the government has put into medicine means my MRI that I thought would take months maybe years is now scheduled for 3 pm Saturday! WOW that is good service, Dr appt to MRI , 10 days. Maybe now I can figure what the heck is wrong with my knee and get it fixed.
Hoping my saved Canna's will come to life now that I've potted them up, it doesn't look to promising. Might have to buy one or two which I didn't want to do.
Bye for now.
Ann

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ann what is DD competing in?
I'll say that's quick, nice to see $$$ spent in such a positive manner..I've waited for my stress test that I'm taking on Monday since beginning of January, would hate to think how people cope with it's a life-threatening situation

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

Betty
DD is on a Cheer Team for her School. Cheer is now a Sport. Team competes with dance and gymnastic patterns to music as a team. Her Team came in 4th in the Provincials two weekends ago so this is the last ,almost just for fun, competition of the season. Her team has won the sportsmanship award at two competitions so far.
It is the first Team sport I have attended that when a competing team struggles or has problems all the other teams sitting around the mat start cheering with them or counting their pattern out for them. Every thing is done to a count of 8 so they may not know each others moves but they all know the count. We have had some brand new teams that did compete for the first time and the teams watching are all claping and encouraging the newbies on. Very Heartwarming to see.... not like the cutthroat other sports I've watched where the parents boo kids and ref's.

Sorry Betty I kind of rambled on. I hope your stress test comes up soon. My knee is not life threatening for sure.

Linda How is Cooper doing today?

Ann

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

It's sunny and cool, windy here today. Days like this I wish I were a pampered cat, laying in the sunbeam.

Ann, good wishes on your DD's competitions. That's amazing that you've got your MRI so fast. It wouldn't happen here in BC. it's been over a year since I was referred to the both the pain clinic and a neurologist that specializes in headaches.

I can't say that I've heard of ever blooming lilacs, but the regular lilacs are budding up here.

Cooper is heading in the right direction, slowly. I was on the phone with vet again this morning, and we'll let him have today as a 'tincture of time' day and if he's got the same umm... bowel motions tomorrow as he's got now, it's back to the vets.

We've got a busy weekend. Tonight we're at a friends 65th birthday dinner party. It's theme is we are to dress up in the occupation we would've had if we didn't take the course we did. I'm taking a 9x12 pan, with sand in it, marked off with string 6 squares. I"ll have my little trowel, a small brush, and a sieve. In one square I'll have a white glass stone - for the ice age, another will have a penny - for the bronze age, the iron marker from an old monopoly game for - you guessed it, the iron age. I also have a couple bits of broken pottery to go it as well. I was always interested in archeology. Tomorrow out for another evening dinner with friends, then Sunday we have about 14 here for a potluck, they are the steering cmte from church who are working on getting the process started for our church to be an affirming congregation. It's a process for a united church to go through. Plus there's activities in the day times as well. So, I better get a move on.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Betty .. RUNNERS' are running shoes .. umm .. sneakers ? Nikes, Adidas ^_^

Cooper sounds to be 50/50 .. hope that escalates to 60/40 soon.
Your weekend sounds full .. just trying to iamgine the tray with the sand .. quite clever Linda ...

Alta Ann .. the Ontario CheerLeading competition has come and gone .. gosh .. quite the PHYSICAL deal that !!!
Good knews re your MRI .. good luck with that !!

Have just watched 2 movies .. both good !!! Amazing .. Surrogates (Bruce Willis) .. and .. Up in the Air (George Clooney) Still have 3 more to watch but have a week to do that in ..

Woodstove is telling me sleep is not far away ..

Take care all

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hoping this morning Cooper is up and at it and back to old self...or new self might be better right? Oooh sounds like this weekend will be so much fun..never thought of a theme party such as you are going to..have to keep that in mind..

Sneekers..ahhh don't know why I thought maybe it was a specialty runner for Lorna to walk on, that's how much I know..lol..

Early morning here, woke up just before 4am tried/tried to sleep but no go so decided that I might as well be productive..got another bag cut out ready to sew, putting the golf rag quilt together so figure at the rate I'm going I'll be napping by 2pm..

Mighty cold out there, not sure what they are calling for as it's been revised about 3 times over the past 24 hrs. - NOT outdoor working weather though..

Ordered a bi-fold door for basement entrance closet, am hoping tonight I can con Greg into coming and installing it, Melanie is off to Meaford for hockey and taking Kyle to Collingwood for Kyle to see the specialist, still amazes me he works Saturday's but from what I understand he has a travelling practice so guess he must do..so, if I promise Greg a home cooked meal he just might go for it..so now I have to weigh 'cook and get door put on' OR see if I can install and NOT cook..you know me and cooking, I usually get involved in some project and end up burning what I'm cooking...

Hope you've all something spectacular planned..taking a line from my friend Judy and 'hope you get kissed by sunshine'

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Mornin .. Being kissed by sunshine, but BITTEN by Jack Frost as well Betty .. BRrrrrrrrrrrrrrr .. just back in from a Lilly walk and it is COLD here .. mind .. I am facing east with the sun at my back coming through an east window, will likely not be able to sit here much longer as my screen will be too difficult to see .. it's 14F .. that'd be .. OUCH .. hurts to crank up my brain .... I think it'd be -10C (or there bouts)

I also wakened early , but, was able to shut off my wee bean so that I could catch another half hour of shut eye .. now I feel like I cheated myself .. can't win.

DUMP DAY .. be still my heart .. but .. once you get shed of all the accumulated 'STUFF" for a week it always feels better .
Have to take the 2 watched movies back .. and hold back from picking up 2 more .. still have 3 to watch !!

That first cup of coffee was so good, I do believe I'll make another .. was TRYING to avoid coffee, but, have failed miserably I'm afraid :-(

Good luck with the door and the meal Betty .. Kyle sounds to be making out OK .. and, as I hear it, we, too, have 'travelling specialists in this area who work on weekends .. not so much orthopods but here it's Dermatologists.

Have a good one everybody ^_^

Hi everyone - know I haven't been on much.
Lots going on here........

Anyway - hope everyone's having a great day, and know that I am always thinking about you ^_^

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

A nice sunny day - Seedy Saturday here- thought I would check it out ( have never gone before) and besides needed to get tomatoes for a friend who was going skiing. I will never go again unless they find a better venue.( which they are trying to do) Open at 10 arrived at 1030, parking about 2 blocks away,( this is a location with large parking lots) place was packed, could not hardly get into the tables. Got the tomatoes and some poppy seeds and left.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Gosh Carol .. that sounds awful !!! I guess the folks who put it on are trying to remedy that ? Gotta give you credit, I'd have left I am sure ..

HEY Susan ^_^
Can imagine the house selling/staging is taking up lots of your time. A very stressful endeavour .. but .. always well worth it in the end. Wish you only the best ..

The dump (landfill site) was DUMPY LoL .. found out our landfill does NOT take GLASS !!!!! So .. off to town we went ..
Spent a good piece of time in Shoppers trying to find the BEST price on 1000mg Vit C .. doesn't it make you crazy when 'they' put things 'on sale' .. but .. the item really isn't if you REALLY look ~~~

Bathed Lilly this aft .. DH helped .. Lordie .. we SO have to have her groomed .. she has some mats !!!!!!!!!!
Lorna tried to brush her .. but .. not too successful ..

Weather has been cool .. but extremely SUNNY :-) the wind is kinda not welcome !!

Supposed to warm up tomorrow ^_^
Will do laundry then and hang it outside !!

Hope everyone is A OK !!

~M~

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Yeh they were doing an exit survey and we chatted for few minutes- hard to find a spot , indoors, inner city twice the size with good parking! ( this was a community centre next to a big outdoor recreation park )

Victoria Harbour, ON

Freezing here, they had called for rain/snow mixture but none today, not that I'm complaining..
OK what's wrong with kids these days..lol..mom here get up just after 4am, been going all day, would have finished the rag quilt had I not had company (that's ok though) Greg comes over, I managed NOT to burn anything, even turned the fan on over the stove, first thing Greg asks is 'what did you burn mom?' imagine...

I had my door after having to go and replace it, sent wrong door, 2nd trip to Midland in 1 hr....first was Fabricland, just got back and realized wrong door...Greg here ready to install, spaghetti which he loves, talk about trying to get him in the mood, lol, did a lemon pie, his favorite...it was only 3 and he's standing at the stove starving, said he'd not eaten all day, finally takes his plate of food into living room, gets involved in a movie and this is what happens...oh/oh no door today, says he'll drop by tomorrow..likely story..lol

What I did hear though as I worked on the rag quilt for his brother is in passing (about 5 times) I get told how his quilt in the basement, the one he cuddles in is falling apart, yep, won't last much longer...had company come in, showed them mom's cross stitch quilt, Greg comes in to say I'd best make sure I put his name on it and goes on and on again about being cold in his basement, his quilt falling apart..I burst out laughing..told him I'd gotten the hint and for sure over the next few weeks he'll have one, can't have my boy cold now can I...

"M" do you have to pay to dump or do you have a 'pass' because you own? We have big object pick up but it's not until May, long time to keep junk..

Wow Carol, that's a far way to walk just to pick up a few items..

Oh someone is at the door, must run

Marilynne - have you ever noticed that on Senior's Thursday, a LOT of things go on sale at Shoppers - just a little bit so that they don't qualify for the 20% discount?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Yes, these things take time (staging, etc), and I'm not doing a terribly good job of it, time-wise LOL
Otherwise, if I had the time, etc, I know exactly what they place should look like LOL (while still being liveable).

Take care, everyone!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Susan ... my S in Law is a realtor .. when we bought this house ( a long time ago) she told me that it was imperative to 'stack' things in closets of the house we were selling. Like stack sweaters, boxes etc . gave the appearance of 'more space' .. as well .. the 2 most important rooms to 'stage', are the bathroom and kitchen ..
I wish you all the very best, it's kinda stressy for sure ..

Greg looks comfy Betty, probably dreaming about his new quilt ^_^

Ann .. I find my mind is just not analytical enough to keep ahead of the discounts. Like yesterday .. Life Brand Vit C was on sale .. well .. there were SIX types on sale ... 500mg tabs, 500mg caps , chewable, orange flavoured .. 60count, 75 count SHEESH .. walked over 10 feet, and here's the Jameison brand NOT on sale and cheaper .. buyer beware.

Doing laundry today .. it's sunny but cool so just the sheets on the line this time round ..
LOTS of Robind hoppin around .. love'em ...

So .. off to fold clothes, change beds and make dinner .. OH .. and perhaps take a stab at the TAXES !!!!!!!!!!

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lol "M" most likely he was..vacuuming all the threads from the rag quilt..lordy it goes from one room to another plus almost microscopic dus from the cuttings..rag quilting drying and then I'll post a photo..was trying to think if when doing the others I could work outside, lot less cleaning to do...managed to dust, vacuum and just cannot warm up, chilled to the bones...brrrr..haven't even been outside today and most likely won't..

Wondered if a hot bath would work but if I had one that would be the end of my day...I'm upstairs cleaning and then crafts downstairs call, making more pocket bags ..between the 2 projects and up and down all day long I should wear off enough calories to warrant witting with coffee and lemon merangue pie..hmmm, think I will...

Susan, I have a friend who does staging in homes, when her hubbie died at age of 31 I had her doing stained glass/sewing etc. and helped her get back on track via proposals for financial fix she was in..she says she owes me a house makeover but I'm the type of gal that once I set a piece of furniture or object someone it's there for life..kids used to make fun of me, they'd come in and move something and before they'd leave I'd know it was missing so not so sure I'd be a good one to try it on..know she's do a fantastic job but likely 10 minutes after she'd leave I'd be back into my regular decor..

My sister Sharon had someone come in and she's more than pleased...just one room the coloring just didn't grow on her, in the agreement she was able to have it repainted..I still have to get over and see it...

I'm sure you'll do fine Susan, I never understand when people are purchasing a home why the decor is so important, really it's the house they want, can't they use their imagination?

But you are all right, they most likely want to imagine the sizing as per furniture..space etc.

Well, if I stop here much longer that will be the end of me..

Now that I've told you all what I'm up to, all of which isn't very exciting please tell me what you are up to..I can live vicariously through you!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

My Shoppers keeps the 1000mg Vitamin D in a totally different display area at a vastly cheaper price.

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

Everyone seems Busy this weekend.
DD's Team came in third and got medals this weekend, yahooo they deserved it! They have worked very hard and looked crisp and well timed which makes the performance look very professional. They Love their coach and would do anything for her so it sure is a cult, but in the good way, very inspiring for young women to have such a positive role model.
MRI went well, in and out, sort of. I don't know how anyone who has to go all the way in copes with the feeling like a coffin aspect, yikes. Just went in to my chin but that was far enough and it took 20 minutes. All in all it was way easier that lots of other things and certainly didn't hurt so that was nice. Now just off to the experts for their direction.
Marilyn there is a horse detangle spray that is called Show Sheen which I have on hand for when my Cleo, a standard Poodle, has ear mats. I just squirt some on and leave it soak and something in it lets the hair be brushed with out much pulling. Be careful where you spray as it makes floors very slippery!
Maybe it would work for you too.

Linda, I too am hoping Cooper is feeling better and still at home.

In regards to Shoppers... I always double check everything because it seems they forget to either put things on sale to match the flyer or forget to take down the sale sign. If you take the time to point it out to them I have had positive experiences so it seems they don't have the time to keep up with the promotions. Anyway I have found quite a few other stores are just as bad so I'm very careful and bring the flyer with me to have it handy.

Susan Home stagers usually know how to make your home appealing to a wide variety of folks which helps those who can't visualize their stuff in your home. Friends who have used this service have been pleased and found the money was well spent.

Betty cute the way your "boys" still squabble for the comfort of their Mom, LOL as if you would let either be cold!
Bye for now
Ann

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ann, congratulations to the team, nothing nicer than seeing your kids doing positive things, wish there were more role models like their coach..that's what is needed these days..

How long will you have to wait for the MRI results?

I'm off for my stress test this morning, looking for something non-cafeine to drink..nothing here..should have thought of that yesterday..tappping my fingers until the little town variety store opens

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Hmmmmmmmmmm .. what about water Betty LoL .. have been buying bottled carbonated water for a few years now .. actually do like it better than FLAT water ..
Good luck with the stress test.

Ann .. after my 'little spell' at the dentist 2 weeks ago, I'm thinking if i ever have to have an MRI I am going to HAVe to be sedated. Glad it's done for you and MAJOR congrats to your DD on the win :-)

I bought some Johnson and Johnson detangler for babies .. well .. she may be our 'baby', but, obviously baby hair and Westie fur are 2 different and distinct entities !! She enjoys the bath .. but OH so does not enjoy the brushing afterwards, was able to get some tangles out though.

The world of 'BIGBOX ' stores BEGS us to all be careful when it comes to their pricing policies .. I get SO annoyed when I get to a display and there is NO price posted .. be it Shoppers, SuperStore, WalMart , Zellers etc .. finding a staff member with the correct info on pricing can be a bit dicey as well.

Another busy week ahead, physio for Lorna is increasing .. so .. it'll be 3-4 times this week ...

Take care all .. welcome to spring ^_^

Thanks All for the Congrats for DD.

Went to bed with fine sprinkles of water coming from the sky and woke to an inch of snow stuck to windshields and everywhere. One of the pain in the butt to scrape off things. If we warm up a bit it will all go away. We do need the moisture just not the ice!
Ann

cullman, AL(Zone 7b)

Its a bit chilly here but thankfully we havent had rain or snow.. it was a sunny weekend in the very low 40's.. Still havent seen any robins.. However we have lots of plants on the go.. Daylilies (i think thats the ones coming up) and my iris' are starting to come up.. My hydrangea bush is starting with buds.. So hopefully even without the robins spring is here...

Ann hopefully it was just melt, I hope theres not more snow your way...

I find one of my biggest pet peeves is when i get the "big box" fliers and something is on sale but they dont tell you the regular price.. I want to know what I'm saving..
jen

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

A nice sunny day yesterday but I was working at Lougheed House so no gardening. Today ( and tomorrow I think) are rather cool and dull and maybe some rain.
Hope to get going in the garden mid to end week.
Otherwise nothing much going on here. Not that there is nothing to do just that I dont feel like doing it!
Maybe another dog coming into rescue but I will not be fostering this one if she comes.

Fredericton N B, Canada(Zone 4a)

I thought spring had really come.I sat on the front porch in the sun on Friday.Today I woke up to a white world.I consoled myself with Bougainvillea I've managed to keep alive this winter. My living room window is so full of Orchids the plants have invaded my bedroom.JOY

Sorry to hear about the rain and SNOW elsewhere .. we have wonderful weather right now, sunny and about +4C

Good news today .. Lorna will be BRINGING HOME the prosthesis (if all goes well) this Thursday .. will share 2 pics from today .. I AM in one .. just my hair behind her shoulder LoL (in a full length mirror)

I am becoming 'ADDLE BRAINED' .. I posted 2 pics the SAME !!!! Have news for ya .. you can fix spelling and/or grammatical errors with 'edit', but' you can't remove a pic .. so .. last one for today ^_^

PS .. Lorna is going to be trying SLEDGE HOCKEY on April 11 .. it's just a VERY preliminary thing, and, just for FUN !!!

Thumbnail by MarilynneS
Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

Marilynne Lorna sure has a big smile on her face! That is super to see.
That sledge hockey looks exciting and I bet a lot harder than we might think.

The sun is now shining brightly and snow is melting like crazy, that is a good thing.
Ann

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

Lorna looks great. I agree with Annabell, I bet sledge hockey is really difficult.
I'm glad that those of you with real winters are experiencing Spring, finally.
Cooper has had trouble today, back at the vets for more tests. We got a call this evening that there are 2 kinds of antibiotics ready for him, so will pick them up in the morning. It's been a week, he's lost a kilo, and he's just not himself. We do have really good vets though.
It was a really busy weekend, too busy for my liking. I tried to post last evening but ended up just staring at the screen.
Betty, are you feeling rested now?
Linda

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Wishing all the best for Cooper Linda .. quite the worry.

Still pitch black outside, but, the furnace has been coming on all night so I have NO doubt that it's a cool one out there, that said, I see no snow on the lawns.

DOing something today I have NOT done in years!! Shopping for a new set of DISHES .. basically plates (dinner plates) Several years ago I bought some extra plates .. I usually have sets of Corelle, but, I went with a heavier plate .. last night I about dropped the 4 heavier plates while taking them from the cupboard .. my hands simply will not support the weight of them .. so .. I'll pass them along and find something lighter ..

Hope everyone has a splendiferous day ^_^

~M~

cullman, AL(Zone 7b)

~M~ I love Corelle dishes, I sware there the best dishes in the world.. My stepdaughter left one outside on the step. I didn't see it, kicked it 4 feet on to the cement driveway it bounced once, and there wasn't even a chip.. I have had them for years. I just replaced them last year to the square plate with bamboo leaves, the other ones were blue and my kitchen was green so it was time..
Weather here is 43 I'm hoping by 2:00 it hits 50..
jen

Victoria Harbour, ON

Brrrr only 3 degrees here..raining and dull..calling for snow on Sunday and Monday, bring it on, sooner it comes sooner we can get cleaning our gardens..that's a months worth of work for sure at least for me...

Dr. said I was quite fit, did 97% on my stress test, whatever that means..says he believe I've angina and hardening of the arteries, both of which I imagine comes with age...have to make appt.with family doctor as Dr. Fahy wants me to have several different prescriptions..I'm not a pill taker so it's most likely a waste of time...

Got home after 2:30..layed on the couch, dozed until son Greg came over at 5:30..just after he left around 6pm off I went to the couch and slept till just before midnight, then off to bed and could have slept well into the day..unusual for me...here at the office I'm clock watching, fighting to keep awake..am sure it will be another early night..probably won't play t.v. bingo, that jackpot will just have to wait!!!

Look at that smile..Lorna must be feeling ontop of the world..sledge hockey, hmm, watched them play at the Olympics, think it's much more work than regular hockey..endurance wise for sure...

Other than paper plates, yes I do use them, being on my own why have dishes..lordy I'm lazy aren't I, but I do love my corelle as well, easily replaced, light and decorative patterns are quite nice and many to pick from..

Wow Jen, you've got Florida weather there in Windsor..this morning I had to let the vehicle warm up for ions to get frost off the windshield..

How's Cooper doing? still not quite up to par...perhaps the meds will work..it's as expensive if not more to care for our furries as it is for ourselves and we do so without a thought to the cost as they are truly part of our families..

another kitty much like Riley has picked me as a possible place to live..sits on my staircase each and every night..looks healthy enough, isn't frightened of the cats nor of Sailor..of course I worried it was hungry so have been feeding it..mistake #1 right?

Been looking for robins, not one as yet..I'll do the 'happy dance' when I first see one..

Joy, that bougainvillia is spectacular..think if we look back on last year's weather and gardening spring efforts we're ahead of the game we're just too anxious because of the extreme warm weather we've had..patience..is a virtue right?

Carol, is Lougheed House open all year round? Guess now that spring is coming it will need more staffing..

My 2 nieces just came to me and said my SIL (Paul's wife-my BIL & Boss) just fell and as he's in the city they must leave to go to her..she has anxiety attacks since she had her kidney replaced so needs someone ... they think she may have broken her arm...drats that's not good...

If I've missed anyone, my apologies..

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Betty .. all the best to your SIL .. hope her arm isn't broken ...

Paper plates do inhabit this house .. mostly in the summer, although, have used them following Xmas parties just to use'em up .. kinda nice ..
Never did get into town today .. I sat down to do the taxes and DANG me .. I always get baffled and befuddled at the RRSP section .. I did see it through to the end, but just KNOW it is incorrect, so........... :-( off to see Consumers Tax Consultants next week ..

Watched a 'herd' of Roins just bob bob bobbin along the back fence this afternoon .. LOVE'em ^_^

Hope you catch up on your sleep Betty, nothing worse than feeling 'boggy' .. used to happen to me on midnites around 3am .. usually had to go and stand outside to get some fresh air ..
Congrats on passing the stress test !!!!

Off to make supper ...

Take care

~M~

cullman, AL(Zone 7b)

well i dont know if its florida weather but today so far its 6:00 and were at 55 degrees.. was a nice sunny day, all the birds were singing all day, still no robin in site.. My iris' and my hydrangeas are starting to take off.. we have the odd other plant starting.. Nothing on the trees yet..
jen

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

Jen, it won't be too long till your Robins return. Isn't it nice to hear the birds.
Betty, glad you passed the stress test, now about following Dr.s orders about pills..... nuf said :) If she's broken her arm, lets hope for a clean break and a quick recovery.
~M~ I gave taxes a brief thought, when do they have to be in by?

I spent 2 hours in the yard, pulling dandelions, then cut it, and clean the sides of the glass pots we have around with plants in them. They were showing their winter grunge. Cooper is looking more himself today, he was outside with me, just enjoying being outside.

linda

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hi - sorry I'm not on much........ I'm that tired......... worked 11 hr day yesterday, and I'm FRIED... Add to that all the getting rooms re-purposed to make them look spacious.
Betty - a lot of people have no imagination when they see a house - it's got to look like a magazine ad (they wish they live in such a place) or they can't see past the personal stuff. That, and if it's cluttered, they think the home hasn't been well-maintained.

Marilyn - thanks for the suggestion about stacking - you're right, it not only looks spacious that way, but it looks professionally cared for.... I'd forgotten about the looks of it, but I'd planned on doing some stacking, now I'll do more :-)

Only thing I can't decide on, and could use all you lady's advice on....
I have a mounted sewing center, and it will be coming with me when we move (it's kinda like a murphy-bed style, folds up closed when not in use, 6' long when it's open). I won't give it up - took too long to get a proper sewing space!
I can go back to sewing on the dining room table for my quilting, and will be putting my fabric stash away of course, but not sure about my "center" in the meantime, for "showing".

♫♪~§usan~♪♫

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Betty LH is open all year round. Happens that this year closed over Xmas and most of Jan for floor refinishing and then my surgery so that is why I have not been there for 3 months.
Paid staff who run the place are minimal due to not much in the way of funding. Curator for instance only works 2 days a week, archivist same thing! All the interpretors( like me)and all the folks who work in the gardens are volunteers as are many who are involved in other programs. One of the front house (FT ) staff has been given/taken on the job of costume mistress but only been given an extra 8 hours a month! Tough. They are working on something now which has to do with being designated a museum which apparently will mean access to more funding.

Gotta g o watch curling- Canada vs USA ( ladies) tonight I think.
