Favorite palmate palm?

Garden Grove, CA(Zone 10a)

What is your favorite of the fan palms and why? What is your favorite fan palm that you own?

My favorite palm, which I don't have yet is the Bismark Palm. I love it's silver color, leaf shape and impressive leaf size.
My favorite fan palm that I have is Thrinax radiata (Florida Thatch Palm). It is tropical looking and looks great through the winter.

My favourites are the Licualas, and what I'd love to have is L. sp. 'Mapu' But I do have L. grandis, L. ramsayi, L. Wah, and L. spinosa. I've got a few small Bismarckia noblis silver form and like those as well, but the Licualas are my first preference.

It doesn't get much better than Bismarckia. I have two in my yard but they're still really small. I also like Nannorrhops arabica. I guess I tend to like the blue colored palms.

I am a Corypha fan myself, though can't grow them here. The massive leaves are great. There is only one species of Nannorhops- ritchiana... others are just synonyms... I like them, too, though... I like just about all palms.

That Corphya is massive!! Very impressive. Would it fit in my tiny planter?

It would easily, as it would die and never get too big

I managed to get two Corypha utan seeds to sprout but when I replanted them in a larger pot they died. Since then I've heard that they're very sensitive to root disturbance, and I'd believe it. Where I was living previously there were a few growing in the town centre. Watched them growing for over 20 years and they're getting quite big now. Hope I get to visit when they flower. For some really spectacular views of hundreds of them you should see the opening part of the film "Ten Canoes". The film is fairly specialist in tastes, but the scenes with the Corypha utan are breath taking.
