What happening to my Bizmarkia?

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

As you know, this has been a rough winter. Most of my garden is now at the curb.

I have been carting out seemingly good fronds from my B. Here is a close-up of the trunk, the furry stuff and a total shot.

It this just normal or is it going to die from our cold? Or is it sick?

Thanks for the help.

Hap is this Bismarkia still living ?

Hi lance,

Funny you should ask...

I was out yesterday and was sickened. As you see the new leaves are deader than a door nail and also the next oldest.

Is it true that if the new leaves, crown(?) die, it's a goner?

I loved that palm.

This is the newest mature leaf and that looks dead.

Thanks for asking.

Should I sent a time and place for the funeral?

You sure that's a Bismarckia? Looks more like a Latania. Need to pull those dead leaves and pour antifungal down the dark hole left behind... you never know... it might survive.

Actually, I have no idea what it is, but will go to HD and get the antifungal. Is there a specific name brand?

I've put it in as a baby 25 years ago and I would hate to lose it.

Thanks.

Hi Hap sorry for my the delay I've been on a rather large project near Los Angeles. I can only hope this palm can ingest the nutrition you need to deliver.Try starting simply with triple 15 ,the florida heat should do the rest if it's got a chance.P.B has got You on a good coarse with the Daconil. Good Luck
