Asparagus Fern is a vine!

I had no idea - I guess Asparagus Fern, Asparagus setaceus is not a true fern or is it? - I discovered it's twining tendencies when I brought mine indoors .. it's now on its way to mugging my window and blinds! I see a haircut in its future.

No, Asparagus "ferns" are not ferns at all--they're in the lily family.

Thanks! .. this opens up some new possibilities for placement. I've always seen these as stand alone plants in pots .. never saw one that was allowed to climb.

Mine climb up into the trees! The thorns are NASTY - they don't look so hot right now - freeze got the foliage. I SHOULD go out and pull and cut them, but nah - too thorny for me to mess with - they always come back.

Yeah the thorns .. being my first Asparagus Fern I was surprised about the thorns.
