AHHHH! The weekend's here:

Happy Day to all.

Saturday Thought for the Day:

“Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections.”

To continue re:

Quoting:
Question to pose to your kids: "What do you think your mother/father and I would rather have you become - happy, successful, rich, or good?"
This comes from my favorite radio talk show host, Dennis Prager. It provokes some good conversations.

Welllll, if I were a parent, I would want only one answer: 'good'

One can't be happy all the time, success is a debatable thing (look at one very successful golfer), being rich (in money) will not buy you happiness or goodness (ditto last comment). However, goodness can make one happy, rich in life, and a successful human being. These are my words, not DP's.

One father called in and described how his son had answered the question very much to his delight, and he remarked, "I guess we did a good job raising you." To which his son replied, "Well, yeah, but I learned all that stuff from Barney." LOL!

These aren't my words Kathleen, but I couldn't agree more.

Good morning everyone.

As much as we needed the rain, I'm really happy that today's a real SUNday. Hopefully this will give the rain that fell a chance to find its way into the ground.

Sunday Thought for the Day:
If you smile at me I will understand, 'cause that is something everybody everywhere does in the same language. --David Crosby, Wooden Ships

Nice language, too! ^_^

Desert Pirate. Love the smile quote. I was in a mall one day, not to long ago with my DGD's at that time 17 and 15. I told them I was going to show them an experiment. I told them I was going to nod at someone and then smile and I would get a smile in return. They did not believe me. Actually they thought grandma was losing it again. I did so and out of five individuals, I got 5 smiles. Then I said, you try it. They did and they got the same response. Actually, some individuals came across with a great big smile.

Had great rain yesterday into the night. It has passed onward East and then the high winds came in. That was good because it blew all the gunk out of the air. Now everything is clear but crisp.

Nice thought! Don't you love to laugh? Now you can enjoy images, too!

(Zone 7a)

I love to laugh. It keeps you young and it makes life worth living. ^_^

It must be Monday..................

Happy day to all!!!!

Monday Thought for the Day:

Laughter is the shock absorber that eases the blows of life.

Amen!

It's a good thing we're communicating via the written word, 'cause my voice is gone completely. I got up this morning and found the entire roll of toilet paper in a pile on the floor and telltale kitty scratch marks on it. I tried to yell at her and all that came out was a little squeak. She looked at me with this quizzical look and kinda turned her head to one side. It was so funny I couldn't be mad at her anymore.

Hope everyone has a beautiful day.

Wednesday Thought for the Day:

When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily with the other.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

I'm speechless. LOL Hope it doesn't hurt.

Good morning everyone!!

I suppose I shouldn't listen to the news before I post a thought. It tends to leave me a little jaded. OH WELL!!!

Thursday Thought for the Day:

The word ‘politics’ is made up of the words ‘poli’ meaning ‘many’ in Latin, and ‘tics’ as in ‘bloodsucking creatures’

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

What about gardeners?

Love this one.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Hey y'all I got two thoughts for you.

Don't believe the setting on your computer that automatically defrags the thing once a week. It lies.

Welcome, SharonKWinter. I've tried the smile experiment, and always enjoy the response. : - )

So many good ones. I don't know who said it, but it's been rattling around in my brain for awhile, so here you go, tag you are it.

DP, Hope you feel better soon, I can just picture the tp all tangled up with claw marks in it.
Marie, I've missed you and am glad you are back.
ima, you always have good ones!
KC, maybe I'm answering out of turn for kwan, but given the statement she made,
Gardeners Bloom!
I'm back!

Hey SingingWolf, it is me, Skwinter. Just changed my name because of many questions if I was male or female so now everyone know Sharon is on board.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

I would have thought it would be "de-flowered".

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

I was wondering about the similarity 'tween names. Thanks for the heads up! Always good to hear from you!

Another thought for the night.

I'm not saying that you are getting old, but you have lived through two generations of Star Trek.

I like mine better, Randy, although technically you could be right. Especially given at least one definition of the term. LOL!
I just have to share this photo of Buddy Holly with you all that I took today. I guess he wasn't warm enough and burrowed under the area rug in front of the wood stove. Got to love him!

A little long, but worth considering:

“Manners are of more importance than laws. Manners are what vex or soothe, corrupt or purify, exalt or debase, barbarize or refine us, by a constant, steady, uniform, insensible operation, like that of the air we breathe in.”

Have any of you seen the TV spots put out by The Foundation for a Better Life? They make me smile every time I see them. You can view them here:

http://www.values.com/inspirational-stories-tv-spots

"Concert" is one of my favorites, but I don't see the other two I like: the big bad hockey player singing "Itsy bitsy spider" to his daughter and the mother who supports her son in every sport, which ends with him singing to her. They are worth sharing with your friends and family. It's a great site to explore.

Gilroy (Sunset Z14), CA(Zone 9a)

Hmmmm....I see I'm going to need to keep tissues next to my PC.....

(Zone 7a)

SW, you can speak for me anytime! LOL I love the card your friend sent you, too!

"De-flowered"...heh heh heh. I like it.

I'm in the midst of a move. I can't believe I'm doing this during the holidays, but that's when this place came available so......

Any way..I got my phone service connected yesterday and Directv today. I'm gonna move my sofa, bed and coffee pot tonight. I think that qualifies as living there. I may be out of touch at least as far as daily contact, but I'll be thinking about you all.

I guess I need to change my "hometown" on my personal page here.

Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.

You all always make my day. So many different thoughts and ideas rolling around in my head.

Because, "I yam what I yam" (Popeye), I wanted to take a moment to share with you one of my deep held beliefs.
Especially it seems really important this time of year when commercialism is being shoved at us constantly.

"Our land is more valuable than your money. It will last forever, It will not even perish by the flames of fire. As long as the sun shines and the waters flow, this land will be here to give life to men and animals. We cannot sell the lives of men and animals. It was put here for us by the Great Spirit and we cannot sell it because it does not belong to us."

ima, you are right about the tissues.
Thanks for the leaky link, KC. : - )

Stop by if you need anything, Randy. Are you getting DSL?

I recently bought a book. I was surprised to see that books have a "Shelf Life". The sell by date on the back of the book said January 2010.
I always thought that a good book was forever, until someone "borrows" it, or until your kids destroyed it.
For that matter, where else would a book belong except on a shelf or in a stack?
The world gets curiouser and curiouser every day!
