Plant ID please

Port Norris, NJ(Zone 7b)

While visiting a friend I noticed this gorgeous plant just blooming its heart out.
I took pics of it & surreptitiously deadheaded one.

Cris, Those are dahlias, but I don't know the specific names. You might want to post these pics on the Dahlia forum for starters, and maybe the Plant ID forum. Good luck!

Daylily,
Thank you for the ID - I didn't realize Dahlias got so tall. The bush in
the pic is about 8 ft high.

You're welcome - yep, they can get taller than you think, and almost always require staking. But their blooms at the end of the summer are worth the trouble! Hope you get names for them.

Cris, If no one in the plant ID Forum comes up with a name, make a link to your request in the Dahlia forum. Good luck!

Daylily, Yes they were staked to the fence but once the fence ended
some were drooping a bit.

lol Stormy something else I'll have to figure out how to do :)

Cris, If you post your request in the plant ID forum, any of us will walk you through linking it to a request in the Dahlia Forum. We all learn as we go.
