Stunning Coleus

Well, I put them under lights and last year I ended up cutting them about every 2-3 weeks they did real good! Some set seed and the seedlings are popping now too.

Thanks BB! I have dozens of coleus in the south window, growing fast!

I use soil. I brought in an earwig and lost the first batch of cuttings.
Things are fine now. Took the first cuttings from this batch last week.

Bringing dirt from the garden will do that. although I have seen bugs come with purchased soil too...even had earth worms in a bag! LOL!

Village of Port Clem, Canada

I am intending to start new coleus from seed I buy.
Can I get them in assorted types or would a packet be all the same... boring....

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

I have seedlings started that fell in the old pots from my coleus last yar so will have some new plants if I can get them past the critical stage... sometimes things just damp off here.

Saw a dang armadillo bug in on pot.. my biggest pbug problem in the indoor house plants that I bring in from fall is ants... I suppose I will be having a hatch on them soon. all I can do is wait, hope and pray none do, but if they do, I best get some ant spray.

I did not take any cuttings off the old plants.. I might but time will tell.

So, do you think we ought to start a COLEUS for 2011 thread?

Hi
Mixed seed packets work well as these guys show their colour early and you will know what you are getting.
I haven't tried the packet above but have done , I think it's called Stained Glass series, there was a nice cross section and the plants were easy to grow and heathy.
I am ordering seeds for this year too as they turned out so well last year.

Good idea to start a new 2011 Coleus thread!
