ridesredmule: It looks like cat ears until you hit send, then shows up as the smiley face! ^_^

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Well. I'll be dog gone. Ain't that neat? Thanks
I love learning new things, don't you?
Thanks a bunch!^_^

(Zone 1)

I don't think it works anywhere except here on DG ... something Dave thought up for us! I love the smiley face. ^_^

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Me too. I kept seeing them, now I know how to do it^_^

Mableton, GA(Zone 7a)

I saw someone had made music notes. How did they do that?!

And I still don't know how to italicize things. Can anyone explain that to me?

All I know is the smiley and how to bold. Is there a cheat sheet somewhere?

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Yeah, that would be nice. A Cheat sheet.

(Zone 1)

Well, I can do musical notes but it's with some little program thingy that was already on my Mac that someone told me how to find. There is a place on here somewhere that tells how to do the italicize etc. I will look around and see if I can find it.

if you are using a PC do a search for "alt codes", you'll get whole list of them.

a few examples

hold the Alt down and type 1(on the number pad NOT the numbers above the letters) =☺
Alt and 3 ♥
Alt and 1 then 3 ♪ ....hold the Alt key down the whole time while typing the 1 and then the 3
Alt and 1 and 4 ♫
Alt and 0169 ©
my name with the accent is Angelè alt 0232
and on and on ^_^

Macs are not the same but you can find instructions for them online too.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Easier still, on your PC, go to Start>All Programs>Accesories>System Tool> Character map. From there you select, copy and paste. No need to memorize keyboard shortcuts, it's all on your computer.

show off!!, LOL!!!! ^_^

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

To italicize is the same as for bold except you use the letter 'i' instead of the 'b'
So < i > at the beginning and then < / i > to end it, except without the spaces as I have shown. (I did a combo of both bold and italicize)

WOW!! I could be here all day. I'll have to print it out and put my cheat sheet up next to my computer. What a geek I am!

(Zone 1)

LOL, I searched everywhere I could think of on DG and still can't find the thread/forum that gives directions for italicize, bold print, quotes in the box etc. I have to have cheat sheets for stuff like this too because I'm more than a "Geek", I am old ... AND blonde! ^_^

I have the character palette for my Mac right at the top of my screen but it doesn't offer many symbols that I use.

I always have to search for it to remember how to do the blue quote box so I usually just type "I quote" lol

When I hold the shift and press the six, underscore and six again, I get the above when I use the number keys across the top of the keyboard. When I use the numbers on the keypad, I just get the underscore. I have a Dell PC at work; what am I doing wrong?
