10/12/2020: I have, since posting this thread/question, learned that the plant is called False Oregano or Jamaican or Puerto Rican Oregano (Lippia Micromera). I wanted to update the thread accordingly.

This is an herb that is used widely on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago that is called Portuguese Thyme locally as it is used by the local Madeiran Portuguese community to make a Christmastime dish called Garlic Pork ( Carne de Porco e Alho in Portuguese). I suspect that the plant is a variety of Oregano but am not certain as they also grow thyme there that is not the same plant/herb as this...it may well be a variety of Thyme?

Any help in identifying this plant would be much appreciated as I want to source it locally here in Atlanta.
