Daylilies: Singles to doubles?, 1 by coleup

I have about 30 "clumps' of single and 2 of double ditchlilies along my front ditch. This year there fewer singles and many more doubles than the two I started with. Is it because the singles have become doubles or that the doubles have really outpaced the singles in proliferation, or ?
