It's a lousy pic, for sure, and they are well hidden, to boot, but if you look closely you can see the striped tail of one kit near the center of the right side of the pic. The other kit is to the right and slightly above that one. Once you find the 2nd kit, you can see its eye looking at us. It's a rough picture, but it shows how the kits are up at the top of a very small tree. They are up above the trunk. See how there is nothing up there but skinny branches. I don't even think those branches would hold the weight of an adult raccoon - so the Mom couldn't even go up there to help them if they got in trouble. (Heidi would never have let her kits go up there.)
