If your computer has a card reader you don't need the cable just take the card out of the camera, put it in the card reader, down load your photos then delete the photos from the card and you are ready to go again.
Attached photos show the low capacity SD card that was in my new camera and a 2GB that costs $12.
Hope I haven't been bashing your ear about things you already know and the 38 photo limitation was for another reason.
