Well, here I go again. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I planted this Cockspur Hawthorn within 8' of the driveway, but after visiting the Minnesota Landscape Arb I quickly realized it was a mistake. These trees can get very wide, which I was aware of (and admire), but somehow failed to consider when planting. I'm now I'm left wondering when would be the optimal time to move it. Should I do it now? This fall? Next spring? There's room to move it several feet further back from the driveway, so that's not an issue. BTW, it was planted from a container and the bare ground is where a mature Northern Pin Oak that died from wilt was recently removed.
