It's cut, tightened down, planed and sanded on the top and edges now.
Yippee! I don't have to pot on the ground anymore!

I just put that hanging Fern, (it's a Boston Fern of some sport) planter on the porch this afternoon. That thing is heavy, that's one of those over-sized hanging baskets. That Fern started out as a clearance Fern from Walmart about a year and a half ago. I think I paid around a dollar for it, but after I'd had it about 6 months, it just exploded in growth. 5th pic -
