Comments regarding Hawaiian Botanicals

I just received my first order from HB today. It came promptly, was very carefully packaged, and the plants are in beautiful, robust condition - wonderful specimens! They even included a bonus plant which was a nice touch.

I emailed back and forth with Jeanie for several weeks to make my selections and ensure that everything I wanted was in stock. I found her to be very patient with all of my mind-changing, and quite friendly over the phone. Our interactions were very positive and I did not find her rude or pushy, unlike others here.

Yes, their website could be updated a little more often, as there were several things that were indicated available on the site that were actually out of stock. However, Jeanie was very knowledgeable about their inventory and made replacement suggestions that were more than acceptable. It's obvious that she and her partner put a lot of time and attention into the plants and it shows in the quality of their product - if the website gets a little neglected because they are busy, I think that's fair enough!

I have been a customer of theirs for a few years. I would agree that sometimes they are so busy that they seem unable to assist you. However, this is not the norm, because I have had Jeannie and Jack both personally help me for extended periods on many occasions. Their selection of plant material is so unique and wonderful and they work hard to keep it in top shape.

I've gone a couple times as well as ordered online from them. I found Jeanie to be helpful without being overbearing. I could look around and have any questions I had answered without being hounded. Ordering online was very prompt and professional. They shipped my Tillandsias within two days of ordering, and provided an invoice and tracking number. The plant arrived next day in perfect condition, and was a gorgeous, healthy specimen. She even included a free bonus plant! Would definitely order from them again.

As a carnivorous plant enthusiast, I've had many great experiences with this nursery. The courteous service that Jack and Jeanie provided by email concerning my orders were outstanding, and so were the plants! I was always astounded upon opening the box, each plant was securely and carefully packed to avoid any harm during shipping. What really got me was the generous size of the plants - Sarracenia rhizomes bigger than the size of tennis balls with simply gigantic leaves, when I only purchased 3.5 inch pot sized ones, or slightly bigger. If the plants weren't huge for the pot size advertised on their website, they were extremely colorful and healthy. With each order, I received an extra bonus plant or two as well.

Years later, the plants are still extremely robust and growing very well. Will definitely order again.

Tremendous customer service from this couple! Emails answered prompty, plants arrived in AMAZING condition and were vigorous, healthy and extremely robust. The owners even worked out a shipping strategy to get the order to me during a warmer break in our weather to reduce the risk of shock or rot (unlike another company), but without making me wait for months to receive my purchase. They have also referred me to links connected to my areas of gardening interest, without me even asking. Friendly, supportive, with FANTASTIC plants! Couldn't recommend them more highly! GREAT JOB! We have been plant shopping at Hawaiian Botanicals a few times each summer over the last 5 or 6 years and would give this place a high rating. We recently built a small pond with waterfall and went to Hawaiian Botanicals to figure out what kind of filter we could use that would work with the pump we already owned. The owner was super courteous and gave us all the attention we needed--he even showed us how to build an inexpensive filter out of basic parts that so far is working just great and saved us a lot of money. We also bought a number of pond goldfish from their healthy stock and the owner was very patient and friendly as we picked out the exact 8 fish we wanted--those fish are now eating and doing great in our pond. I've never had an experience where I would give either of the owners a poor rating, they have both helped us many times. They spend time with you if you need it and both are very knowledgable, the plants and fish stock are great (loads of plants you can't find anywhere else!) and the prices are hard to beat. A lot of what's in my subtropical garden came from Hawaiian Botanicals and I have recommended them to all my gardening friends for plants or ponds.

I like the selection of what HB has to offer...and everytime I call their nursery, I find them very helpful and patient with me. I've also referred a number of friends to them and I think they're fairly happy also.

i am a carninorus plant enthusiast who was envoled in the local cp club in vancouver.i was the president organizer of the club for over 15 years and i am still envolved.i have known the owners of hawaiian bottanicals for over 8 years.my personal experience is they were honest thougtfull hard working and ran an excellent bussiness as well as contributing to the local cp community with their own time.

I shopped often at Hawaiian botanicals and since I got my first plant, Aristolochia gigantea there, I have been hooked on tropical plants. Through the years, I got tropical bananas, rare delachampia vine, and green smoke waterlily from the nursery and the plants go dormant in the winter and comes back stronger each year and explode with colour in the summer.
It is a pleasure just going in to the nursery to have a browse and watch the carnivorous plants in action, and there are wonderful additions through the seasons.
I can't wait to see what I am going to get for this summer as additions to my tropical garden, there are always wonderful surprises there.

I recently ordered a few tillandsias to be delivered to the opposite end of the country. They arrived in 2 days, perfectly packed and in great shape, and that was at a time I knew the co. was extremely busy just opening up for the new season. Would definitely order again.
