Better late than never. Still poor communication and timelines. |

I order some additional tools and am very happy with them. Will definitely use them again next season! On May 1st, 2017, LOVIE2 changed the rating from positive to negative and added the following: I have been dealing with this company since 2009 and up until April 2017, was pleased with the products and customer service. Something has changed and it has not been for the better. I placed an order in February for an April delivery for some seeds and a 2nd Mighty Midget Cherry Tree. The tree ended up on backorder until May 9th. I started calling on 4/12/17 to cancel the tree order (seeds were already received), and was told no problem, the cancellation was submitted and to expect my refund within 5 business days. I have called 4 times since with promises of a call back from the representative Gail and as well "Ryan" the credit guy via csr Michelle. I have not received one return phone call yet, nor have I received my refund, beyond my shipping refund which posted the next day after a call #3. It's now May 1, 2017 and I have gotten nowhere. I can no longer say this is a positive experience as the thrill is definitely gone. will never refer another person to this company. Extremely unprofessional and disappointing. On June 5th, 2017, LOVIE2 changed the rating from negative to neutral and added the following: I finally received my refund and a call from one of the managers there. I've changed my rating to a neutral as I am considering giving them another chance, After I place an order and receive it I will come back to add to my review and hopefully we will be friends again, and the rating will be back to positive! |

Harris seeds arrived the same day in a thin plastic envelope ($10.40 shipping.) Might be a great company but they need to put part of their high shipping charges into more substantial packaging to protect easily crushed and damaged seeds. |

My seed problem was rectified by a person from the company with customer service. Realize all companies can have defective seed. The majority grow true to the packet. They do have the most variety that their compeititors can't match, thus, will, and was planning on ordering again even if they didn't replace the seed. |

On May 14th, 2010, snapple45 added the following: On May 13th I received the replacement tree, as promised. I was utterly speechless when unpacking it because it too was very obviously dead. In fact it was even more dried out than the first dead tree! I didn't immediately call the company. Sometimes it's better to wait a bit to be properly composed. Holding off was the better strategy, because today, May14th, I very unexpectedly received a second replacement tree. This tree is very much alive and in relatively decent condition. There's been some tip pruning of what I suspect was winter dieback, but the tree is leafing out nicely. I'm pleased with this replacement. I'm leaving my rating at neutral. Although the company did stand behind it's nursery stock and make it right eventually, it took three trees to get one live one and communication was slow. |

Our supplier only ships at certain times because of the preparation required for live material. We offer multiple ship week options to our customers, but they are at set dates. For example, the products you ordered can only ship the week of April 26th and the week of May 3rd, and unfortunately the dates cannot be changed. We would love to accommodate customers who require other shipping times and therefore are working with the grower to offer more flexible shipping in the future." |

Since then, I have been actively spending a lot of money at various online nurseries/retailers and can say that these guys are horrible when it comes to quality and customer service. On July 31st, 2009, jajtiii changed the rating from negative to neutral and added the following: After making this post, DG copied Harris Seeds on my post. To be fair, they immediately contacted me and resolved my issue by replacing the plugs that had been shorted before. It would appear that my initial complaint was misunderstood. I suppose that I should have contacted them again to give them a chance to respond, but I assumed (incorrectly, it would seem) that they were ignoring me. It is very positive that they made the issue right. I only wish that it would have been resolved after my initial correspondence with them. |
Neutral | charlesgrey (6 reviews) | On Jan 13, 2004, charlesgrey Champaign, IL wrote: I placed an order for seeds and seed starting supplies which was delivered promptly. However, I started the pansies and was not impressed with the germination rate, so I checked the packages, and they are all packed for last year! They gave me 2003 seeds instead of 2004. When I pay full price for a seed package, I really expect fresh seeds. Otherwise, I'd go to the local home improvement store where I can get them for 50% off and not have to pay any shipping. |
Neutral | robacameron (19 reviews) | On Mar 7, 2003, robacameron wrote: My order took quite a while to arrive. The package came damaged, with a hole in it. It was a package simply made of weak paper, unlike other companies that ship their seeds in durable Jiffy envelopes. The seed packets are simple, but with good instructions. The seeds themselves were of good quality, although they were teated heavily, more so than other companies usually do. I ordered treated seeds by mistake. But, I expect they will sprout well and have no problems this way. I am willing to order from Harris again. |
Neutral | mdsbat (1 review) | On Feb 19, 2003, mdsbat Canal Fulton, OH wrote: Decent selection, but prices a bit high. was a little slower on shipping than other companies I ordered from, but not terrible (ordered from Pinetree and Cook's on the same day as from Harris, got their orders within a week, Harris took two weeks). Also they called and left a message that there was a problem with my credit card, when I called back to the extension they left, the woman I spoke with was nice seemed a bit clueless. said she wasn't the one who called, didn't have my info available, but took my info and said would look into it. My order did come through so guess everything was OK |
Neutral | Nell495 (6 reviews) | On Apr 1, 2000, Nell495 Manassas, VA (Zone 6b) wrote: I would like to add a comment on Harris. I ordered an inexpensive propagation chamber (a Styrofoam cooler heated with a light bulb) and an Abutilon plant, not seed. The "cooler" came long before the plant. While waiting for the plant, I started Abutilon seeds from Burpee. I had 15 gorgeous 6" plants weeks before the poor spindly 8" plant arrived. I have worked and worked with the plant but I think it's a goner. The "cooler" on the other hand is an unqualified success. I have started many plants in it and have had uniform (excellent) germination. I will order more propagation systems and never order another plant! Don't know about their seeds. |
