Have been ordering bare root and potted trees & shrubs from
Musser Forests since 1996. I am very satisfied with the
quality of the stock and especially with the packaging. The potted 3 yr Kousa Dogwood that I ordered in 1998 arrived as a skinny 18" stem with 2 or 3 leaves and now (4.5 yrs later) is a very lovely, full 8 foot tree.

They often include extra plants with the bare root orders. Their customer service is friendly and professional. Will order more plants in 2003.

Very good service. Their phone help was very professional. You can talk to a forester if you wish. Plants can within one week of expectaions for an early April delivery. All plants were in good shape. My father has been ordering from Musser Forest since the 60's.

I ordered about $100 worth of plants from Musser Forests last fall. They arrived at the right planting time and were in excellent condition. I have ordered plants from several other mail-order nurseries over the years and I feel that Musser Forests has provided the best plants. I am definitely going to order more for the spring of 2002!

My father has been ordering from Musser since, I believe, the 1960's. So, when I purchased my 5 acres I followed his lead. I bought 50 Hemlocks (5 yr. transplants) and ten Siberian Dogwoods last spring (2001). I have lost about 4 hemlock - may be a result of this being my first time planting bare roots. The dogwoods are doing fine. I found their service to be excellent and was even able to talk to a forester several times for advice. I have ordered 45 more trees for this upcoming Spring. Plants arrived in great shape - roots were very healthy. Their prices are also very good.

Had almost 100% survival of the large group of spruce trees that I purchased. They arrived well packed. I will definitely order from them again.

Trees arrived on time for our planting zone. Excellent quality and very little loss. We have ordered several times and will continue to order. Our favorite source for internet trees.

We've had pretty good experience with Musser Forests. We placed an order with them for a variety of trees and shrubs. All came bare root and in their dormant state, with a few extras thrown in 12 American cranberries instead of10, etc. Most of the plants have survived; the losses can probably be attributed to squirrels biting the tops off! Just beware that the plants are small and will take a few years to reach a decent size. If you're wanting to screen your view of the neighbor's pool, you'll be planting sunflowers, cosmos, and castor beans for awhile to fill in while the shrubs grow.

In a word, awesome. I ordered some potted shrubs, and they arrived looking like they had just been taken off the nursery shelf and handed to me. Perfect condition. Their packing system is wonderful.

I have placed small orders from Musser's twice (2 seasons) and was very pleased with the quality of the seedling that were sent, and the quantity. I received an extra Sumac one year and an extra silver maple the next. When 3 of my silver maples didn't survive I called and they promptly sent a credit. I will place another order this year. My only problem with them is trying to choose from the wide selection of trees and shrubs they offer. The catalog is well written with information on not only size and light requirements but moisture preference and soil preference. Now if their catalog would just get here.

Absolutely top-shelf. Delivered everything on schedule, true-to-size, at the best prices I've found anywhere for years. Always packed well (gel-coated bareroot stock to prevent dehydration), if not over-packed. Success rates have been phenomenal. Only draw-back is the need to buy quantities that most folks can't handle, which can lead most folks to either over-order (and over-plant) or try to sift through the various "collections" or "special offers". Quantities of ten is the lowest in many cases. But they really are the best; so if you can't deal with the quantity, find a friend to share it with.

Their catalog is very thorough---listing common and scientific names, cultural information, hardiness recommendations, and excellent photographs. Most items are priced quite reasonably and offered in minimum quantities of ten--although a few items are available as singles.
