I order some White Feather Hostas from them last year. They arrived, a bit tiny, but all three came back this year.
The company was called Gorges Garden Center
On Dec 2nd 2015, and I felt they were good to do business with again as I had no problems. I saw an email from the for Fire Hydrangeas on their Hydrangea trials. I ordered and when they didn't arrive, I emailed, and they stated March. When they still didn't arrive, they said, oops we forgot about Easter, and we dig on the weekend. That should have tipped me off right there. I called and someone called back and said Oops we are really behind, give us a week.
Got the package yesterday, a bag of dirt with some roots and a tag that said White Hostas. Didn't even have the right order numbers. I ordered Fire Hydrangeas in 1qt containers. No response to email or phone yet. Phone goes to voicemail. As I am writing this right now I received and ad email from them. To busy to answer emails, but not to busy to have more sales.
They are having another flash sale, they are apparently now listed as:
saleforplants.com and thehostafarm.com with Garden and Lifestyles LLC at the bottom of the email and a Coeburn Va physical address.
If I get resolution on this matter, and a refund, I will post here, but a business that has 50% bad feedbacks, is concerning to me.


On April 13th, 2016, TMKC changed the rating from negative to neutral and added the following:

Paypal sent me an email saying that Gorges (now Hosta Farm) had agreed to a refund. I never did receive a response from the seller. I have changed my review to neutral, but I will not order from again.

I have placed 37 orders with The Hosta Farm and have never run into a problem that did not get resolved. They left a few items out of an order last year but took care of it in just a couple of days. I am an avid gardener and shop with with many online and catalog nurseries because they always have plants I can't find locally. The Hosta Farm is my favorite source for Hostas and shade plants.(I do wish they had more shade perennials to choose from) Their plants are of nice size and their pricing is great. Customer service can be a little slow but I just figure it's a small company.

They are running a name your own price sale for customers on their mailing list and I must have changed my mind on the varieties I wanted and what I was willing to pay dozen times. I felt like I was driving the lady handling the price offers crazy. But she was quick to update my offer and resubmit my pricing form each time and kindly let me know that I was in no way bothersome. So Kim if you see this tell your boss you deserve a raise just for putting up with me today. I have been a customer for three years and have never had a problem with customer service or plant quality. I will be a customer for as long as they will put up with me.

I placed 3 different orders last year and by mistake doubled up on a variety that I had already ordered. I discovered my mistake the day before the order was to ship out and the plants had already been packed and waiting for UPS to pick them up. Kevin at customer service contacted the shipping manager and they sorted through the stacks of boxes to find mine. They took out the ones I ordered by accident and replaced them with ones I requested. Try to get Amazon to do this for you. I was highly pleased with my plants and my experience with The Hosta Farm and have recommended them to my gardening friends.

My wife ordered several hostas and they arrived in beautiful condition. However, one hosta, Rhino Hide PPAF, was the wrong plant. Rather than blue with a lighter center the leaves were blue with a gold edge. In addition, the plant was not shipped with the official tag provided by the tissue culture nursery with every patented or PPAF plant. TheHostaFarm.com explained in an email that the plant shipped was the Rhino Hide sent them by their greenhouse and they agreed to refund my money. I still do not have a refund or credit to my credit card account. Customer service was reponsive but not knowlegeable about hosta plants. If and when my refund arrives I will revise the experience to "Neutral" but I would not order a new higher priced hosta from them again.


On June 28th, 2010, treemon changed the rating from negative to neutral and added the following:

Customer service was very responsive and credit for the incorrect hosta has been posted to my wife's credit card.
