Based upon the slick advertising of Merry Tillers as being the very best, we ordered the best unit they offered at $1400 +. When the unit arrived, it had missing assembly parts and the assembly instructions were full of page and reference errors. After multiple stops at the hardware store for parts, we literally had to "jigsaw" the handles, cross-braces, etc. together. It took the better part of a day. Whew! Ready to till right? Not quite. The unit was properly oiled and fueled and simply would not start...not at all. With a short call to the mfg. company we would have a replacement or problem-fix post-haste right? No. They said they did not warranty the motor. Warranty? How is a new tiller right out of the box and never started a warranty issue? Nope, there was nothing they could do...just gave me the motor parts nearest dealer...it was "my" problem now. We then contacted the Merry Tiller retail dealer. They would fix it at the expense of $260 shipping to and from or they would take it back at a $220 "restocking fee" (+ shipping this totals $480 of our money to return the non-functioning tiller). How about this for customer service? If you are thinking about buying a Merry Tiller, please consider this experience of mine and buy something else. I would hate to know other people are going through this as well. Good luck.
