Comments regarding Antique Rose Emporium

I ordered six roses and all arrived in terrific condition and were of good size. I would not hesitate to reccommend this company, they do what they say, when they say and that is not as common as one would expect.

I am new to this website, but was estatic to see the Rose Emporium listed. I have been getting roses from them for six years. My mother also has more then twelve of there roses. We have always been satisfied with the service, the're replacment policy, and not to mention the roses grow wonderfully. If you are going to try growing roses, I highly recomend trying one for yourself.

I received 3 uniformly healthy Mrs. B.R. Cant and the much-coveted Lamarque for the big arbor today. I'm very pleased with my new roses, as always. I appreciate the extra care they take in packing the roses for shipping, too. They're also always willing to talk to inquisitive idiots such as myself, and the best part about that is their staff knows their roses. ARE is so good, it's almost not worth writing another positive review here as it quickly gets lost in a sea of satisfaction. But it does provide a record of their consistently superior quality through the years and they certainly earn the praise.

I called them, ordered and received my two selections in three days. They have excellent customer service and are very knollegable about their roses, so you can ask for their recomendations for your site and soil type.

After searching locally for lady banks yellow roses, I found a great price here, even with shipping costs. The plants arrived promptly & are big, healthy & hardy.

I ordered roses from three different places last year and I was by far the happiest with my Zephirine Drouhin from ARE. Delivery was fast, packaging was exceptional and the plant was the largest compared to the other companies that I dealt with. The Zephirine Drouhin that I had ordered from Jung the year before was miniscule compared to this plant (and it died, too)! This year, I'll only order from one company-ARE.

I finally had the pleasure of visiting this nursery and getting some of their roses. Also attended propagation and composting lectures. Their fine reputation is well deserved. Will definitely buy from them again, just as soon as I create some more beds.

i've ordered twice from this company in the past month. the roses are grown in a true 2 gallon container, have a good root system in place and look extremely healthy. they are larger than any i've gotten from other rose breeders by far. i have limited experience with others, so i can't say these would be the largest online roses available. the packing is terrific, shipping is fast and you can pick your ship date. i also really like their selection of tough and hardy texas roses. i will order again from them!

I ordered only one rose from this company, but I can tell you it seems a very healthy plant, arrived exactly when I'd requested and in perfect condition. I'm not that experienced with buying roses online, but when I have ordered elsewhere in the past, that company shipped bare root and had a minimum purchase requirement. ARE seems an especially good choice if, like me, you only need a plant or two.

I am fortunate to live close enough to make the drive (about 1 1/2 hours) when I purchase from the ARE. And I have made the drive many times, because it is well worth it. The grounds are a beautiful tribute to cottage gardens. And the roses - well the roses are in great shape. I recently purchased three Lafters, the runts of the litter - the last ones left. They didn't look great, but I know the ARE and I knew they would be just fine. They are more than just fine - they are fantastic. In two months they have more than tripled in size, are blooming like crazy, and healthy as can be. This is not a big impersonal operaton; it is "family" style with some of the nicest, most helpful people I've ever dealt with. You can't go wrong when you purchase from the ARE.

Packaging is excellent. The roses are large, bushy, and perky, in large pots (which I'm sure helped them travel in the heat without wilting). Many plants were listed as sold out since I ordered so late in the season, but still found 2 climbers that fit my needs. To top it all, I think that the plant prices and the shipping (while not bargain basement) are much less than many other suppliers. I will order again from this company.

I placed an order for the 'New Dawn' climber after a previous order from another nursery didn't come out of dormancy. Since this particular cultivar has been sold out at the other nursery, I thought I would check ARE out. I emailed them asking when if I had missed the last shipping date, as it was mid-May, and they told me to place the order as soon as possible.

The order was placed, and the rose arrived within a week. The plant was securedly packed, and the soil was a little damp still in the plastic pot. It has been transplated since in the ground, and it has been doing well (no signs of stress) in the hot sun with southern exposure.

Great shopping experience this has been; no hassle to deal with.

Wow. This company really delivers a great product! Their shipping was excellent and the plants arrived looking healthy. The roses were larger that I have ever received through the mail and they have taken off and already bloomed for me despite my delay in planting them in the garden.

I bought roses from Antique Rose Emporium several years ago and was elated with how healthy they have been! Over the last couple of years, I have sent rose bushes as gifts to my mother-in-law in Utah and to my sister in North Carolina. Both reported how pleased they were with the shipments and have sent photos of the now growing bushes and vines. They have used this company to give gifts of their own. ARE will continue to be my source for roses. Well worth the money!

All in all very nice plants and well packaged. One of the penelopes had only a few leaves on it, but the company said it should develop more to replace the ones that dropped in transit. Only problem I had with them is that that shipped one week too early, but the roses appear to be doing good. Very courteous customer support.

Great experience. Ordered 5 roses, and they were in beautiful condition when they arrived. However, one was the incorrect color. I telephoned them to request an exchange - they told me to keep the rose, with their compliments, and sent me the correct plant free of charge.

Add my voice to the chorus of cheering fans. I have been delighted with my past purchases from ARE and, as soon as I figure out a way to keep those darn deer out of my new garden, will definitely be placing another order.

I spoke to a gentleman on a Friday to place my order for 2 roses.

I wanted them asap but was informed that they would not be able to ship until the Tues of next week. Which means I would be getting my plants probably the following Tuesday, since I live in PA.

To my surprised, I received them on Thursday, the same week as they were supposed to ship. Perhaps they were able to ship early. Nevertheless, I am VERY VERY HAPPY as I do want to get them early rather then being in transit for days (not good the plants).

The size of the plants are HUGE in comparison with other vendors offering own rootstock that I have ordered from.

I WOULD DEFINITELY be ordering from them again!

Customer Service: I called to double-check the availability status of “Adam.” It was marked “Sold-Out” on the website. The representative confirmed that it was in fact, “Sold Out.” My subsequent response was, “Gee, that is too bad. I am sorry to learn that.” I gave it no further thought. The order arrived the following day with one additional rose I did not order. ARE included an additional “Adam” to my shipment at no cost! Amazing.

How many times have they quoted 7-Day delivery, and delivered roses to my doorstep in less than 24-hours! They are fabulous!

Their record of accomplishment: Over the course of four years, the rambling white “Monsieur Tillier” we think is a "Moonlight", a "Madame Joseph Schwartz" looked suspiciously to be a "Duchesse de Brabant", and the "Perle d’Or" did an untimely swan song. Their understudies each arrived the following day as if nothing had ever happened. The display goes on with less than a 2% error rate. We all applaud.

My only request is for some new “oldies” on which to dote.

I have nothing but positive things to say about ARE. They have a large selection of own-root roses, and a very informative website. The roses arrive quickly, well-packaged and healthy. Customer service is very helpful. My roses have always been shipped on the date I requested.

I've just got to add my two cents here. I've now planted ten roses from ARE, and I can't extol their virtues enough. The roses arrive big and healthy, and they start growing immediately! One of them, "Moonlight" I think, in less than a year has already grown about 8 feet up into a fig tree. Only one plant died, and that was because the soil ball fell off of the roots as I was planting it, but I sent in the tag and they immediately replaced it. If I had a bigger garden I'd buy 100 more!!

I am really happy with the roses I got from ARE! They were good sized, especially for own-root roses, and had really big root systems. I wish some of the other own-root rose nurseries grew them to this size before shipping!! I would order from them a LOT more were it not for their higher than most shipping charges. I do go to them, however, when none of the nurseries with more reasonable shipping have the rose I am looking for. The Antique Rose Emporium does have an amazing selection! The packaging is also really well done - not so much as a broken leaf, let alone root or cane.

ARE has a great selection of large own-root roses sold as potted plants. Every rose I've ordered from ARE over the years has been exceptional and is now thriving in my garden. Orders have always arrived precisely at the time I was careful to select during the ordering process, and customer service has been top-notch.

For northern gardeners in particular, a major benefit of ARE plants is that they arrive already hardened off, having been grown outdoors rather than in a greenhouse. This means that the plants adjust to their new climate much more quickly and take off like gangbusters!

I've ordered dozens of roses from the Antique Rose Emporium. All large and healthy, unlike the stock of few other antique rose growers I could name. They are always always my first choice, when they have the variety I'm looking for.

My one complaint is pretty rarified: can't they experiment a bit? They've barely added a new variety in the last dozen years. The catalogue hasn't changed since I was a slip of a girl. A little excitement, please!

I ordered a Green Rose and it arrived within a week of placing the order. The packaging was great. It was a decent size for the price.
I will definietly be ordering from this company again.

I ordered Enchantress, Pink Rosette, Souvenir de la Malmaison and Hermosa from here. They shipped the order when they promised, and a few weeks ago I found an incredibly huge box on the doorstep. Only 4 roses inside, but I could barely lift it they were so big. Their shipping is really not that bad either. Roses were so healthy, I found Hermosa and Enchantress blooming beautifully today. I can see why this place has so many positive remarks.

I purchased four roses from ARE this year. ARE is one of four companies from which I purchased roses this year. By far, ARE was the best supplier, the roses came as noted, in EXCELLENT health and have thrived in unquestionable fashion. I will continue to buy from this company in the future and recommend it to anyone interesed in antique roses!

Ditto on the superb packing, timely shipping, and most of all - - - HEALTHY roses!

Purchased two roses which were shipped promptly in their incomparable packaging. They had a fair bit of blackspot, and what looked like some mildew. One was smaller than the other, and more infected. Looked like it might remain the runt. They warned on their site that blackspot could develop in shipping. Still I was a bit skeptical - after all, this variety wasn't supposed to be bothered by blackspot at all, one of the reasons I'd chosen it!

With removal of diseased leaves and a week in the open air and sun both were putting on new foliage at a rapid clip. 10 days after arrival the larger one had bloomed! (5 days in the ground).
Now, a month or so along, they've both got lots of buds and have leafed out into lovely mounded shrubs. A few aphids have visited, but not a sign of any further blackspot.

In other words, they shipped very sound strong plants with established root systems, that can take the stress of shipping and rebound to their real glory quickly.

Will definitely order again -- both for their roses, and for their packing inserts, which make fine cat tunnels. A free bonus that they don't mention!

Ordered several ROSES from this company in March and ROSES arrived here in Kingston, NH from Texas the week I had asked for them, in perfect condition. They are by far the largest, healthiest of all the companies I had dealth with this year. This is my first year growing roses so I have many different types of roses in different sizes and conditions!, but I trusted the feed back of Daves Garden members. I'm not dissapointed. UPS has a track record of hurling the boxes down ramps at lightning speed so you wonder what you going to get if a mishap occurs but they were packaged by a company that cares about your satisfaction. There are other rose companies that are excellent as well, but this company so far has impressed me most. I will order from them next year and tell my friends and associates abouth this great company.

Because of all the positive feedback about this company I placed an order way back in October for spring delivery and spent the long winter months daydreaming of the day I would get my roses. So when the UPS truck pulled into my driveway yesterday I was like a kid at Christmas! I had no fears, because I trusted everyone's feedback here, and I was not disappointed! Its a long way from Texas to New Hampshire, but the roses looked remarkably good for being in boxes for a week...all bushy, green and healthy. The packaging was terrific, and the soil was still moist. By the way, I placed another order with them prior to receiving this order, so I should be getting more roses soon! This is a first-rate company, so deserving of the many positive ratings it has received....you can order from them with complete confidence as I did!

I ordered 4 rose bushes and received a confirmation email almost immediately. They even sent me an email giving me the date of delivery. The plants arrived securely packed, in perfect condition, green and much larger than I expected. I will definitely order from this company again and will refer all of my gardening friends to their website.

My order of eight healthy, well packed roses arrived on 18 April in two large and sturdy boxes and in excellent shape. I received an e-mail almost immediately after I placed the order and another e-mail when the order was shipped with tracking information. I am very pleased with ARE's service and I plan to do repeat business.
