With AZ Gardens, the initial experience was good. My order consisted of 2 Dwarf Babytears, 3 java moss, a 3 pack of rocks and 20 Nerite Snails (god like, supposedly). HOWEVER, when I received the order everything looked ok, except for the brown look of the moss and the Nerite Snails that had a thin layer of water in the bag they were in. I placed the moss in my aquariums hoping the brown would go away but as of yet (3 weeks) the brown has not gone away and it looks dead. The Nerite snails that they "CLAIM" are basically god like and cannot die during transport, only 4 out of the 20 are alive, the others never moved from where they were placed in my aquariums and some of them didn't even have trapdoors on them when I put them in the aquarium (I thought they were small snails and the trap was way inside the shell. I emailed this company and no response. I have called during regular operating hours and the phone simply continues to ring with never any answer. I do regular water changes and weekly check my levels and everything is always good so since there are a few survivors its not my aquariums, it was the quality of the Nerites that AZ Gardens says they will never replace or refund for Nerite Snails, because "They simply will not die." I am very dissapointed in them and have sooner found out that they are rated an F in BBB

All the negative reviews are accurate, I just recently ordered 20 neon, 20 green/fire tetras, 20 blue tetras, some plants on Monday 4/4/2011, they said they shipped out Thurs but I doubt that theyre telling the truth. Friday morning I recieved the package box from UPS directly. Bags were in a box stuffed with bubble wrap and newspaper. Water was ice cold. 1 bag with 20 fire/tetras all DOA and water dirty with plant material which look like it had been decaying for days because the water was brown colored. The other bags had 8 dead blue tetras and some still dying, the bag with 20 neon alive in cold water, and plants did not look healthy. I called and spoke to Pete who said just email the number of DOA. I did and they never responded or gave me credit. I tried to call and they never answered the phone. If your lucky , you will get the fish alive because they survived bad conditions. But theyre method of doing business is unethical to say the least. Oh, did I mention I added 4 killi fishes hoping to get a pair and they sent all males. I'll take the lost and never do business with them again. I have to change my account number because they may try to charge my account again, I dont trust them.

OK, I must say that I was horrified when I read some of the negative reviews, especially since I did my research AFTER placing the order on-line with Arizona Aquatic Gardens. I placed an order on Monday morning from the East Coast for several very rare and unique species of aquatic plants and fish. I carefully read the terms and conditions on the vendors website and noted that most plant & live fish orders were shipped on Thursdays. I received an e-mail from UPS informing me of the shipment and tracking number on the Thursday of that same week and received all of the plants ordered on Friday. All of the plants ordered were in very good condition, and some of them exhibited such prolific growth upon arrival, that I was able to separate them and derive several healthy plants from a single-plant purchase. The shipping charge was based on the weight of the overnight package and matched UPS' rate chart to the penny. I must admit that the shipping cost was high, but this was the rate that UPS charged to ship an overnight package. Wait... I have not yet mentioned the live fish. My only disappointment was that the fish that I ordered were not in the package with the plants that were ordered on the same day. I was so looking forward to receiving these specimens, since I have never seen this species offered in any aquarium store (I'm 53 years old) and I thought that they would complement my aquarium at home very nicely. I read the terms and conditions on their website again and it said that the invoice would show that I had a back-order if the order was not shipped complete. I also noted that AZAG would only charge 50% of the standard shipping charge for back-orders and that I would have the opportunity to chance this order if desired. I waited one week... and no shipment. I e-mailed AZAG the second Monday (since their website explains that they are very busy with filling orders the rest of the week and Monday is the best time to contact them) and I received a response from Peter stating that my order would be going out in this weeks shipment. Shipment went out as promised, confirmed by e-mail from UPS and I received my two houseguests by overnight mail on Friday. As agreed, the UPS charges were charged only at half the standard rate. Note: All specimens arrived healthy and alive and are currently thriving and growing well in my home aquarium. Although I would have preferred the entire order to arrive in one shipment, after calculating the additional cost incurred for shipping, the difference paid was negligible. Overall, my experience was good.

I too ordered a number of invertebrates from Arizona Aquatic Gardens which arrived almost all dead, but it was through no fault of theirs. My wife's brother suffered a heart attack and my wife, who is usually home, was at the hospital when the first two delivery attempts were made, so the shrimp had spent three cold days on FedEx planes and trucks before I could pick them up after work the next day. Everything was dead except for one lone cherry shrimp and the mussels. (My wife jokes that that was the most expensive freshwater shrimp ever sold, cost about a buck and a quarter for a 1/4" shrimp.) They did make a follow-up call and I explained the situation, and they were extremely nice, even offering to give me a full credit for the order (not including shipping of course.) I didn't take them up on that because it was completely not their fault and I wouldn't have felt right about it, and I never again ordered because I didn't want to risk even another $50 shipping, so I can't say for sure how they would have performed had we been home to receive the order, but I certainly had no complaints with their service. Everything ordered was correct in the order as well and was well packed in two large standard styrofoam fish boxes.

The shipping was quite expensive, but since I have shipped live fish next day air the cost wasn't totally unexpected. This was several years ago and they may not even be under the same ownership so your mileage may vary, but my experience with the company was as positive as it could have been considering the circumstances.

You decide.

Many plants received were
- frozen enroute.
- smaller than represented on their website
- fewer than ordered
- were substitutes of what was ordered

Restitution was refused until a claim was filed with the credit card company. The content of the second shipment was agreed to beforehand, but was comprised of a plant mix totally different from the original order. Many of these plants were sold off to recover the money I paid to AAG.

I have totally no way of knowing whether AAG operates out of the owner's garage as is intimated in the other reviews. But Google Earth shows his shipping address on a road devoid of buildings in the middle of the desert north of Tucson.

BBB of Tucson does rate AAG with an "F" for a refusal to respond to customer complaints.

AAG has a wonderful website, however, with hundreds of plants and animals on offer. They do not accept returns, they state clearly they will substitute what they have on hand for what you order, they will only offer store credit for confirmed DOA's, they have a $35 minimum order (even for replacement and for back orders), and their flat shipping charges are twice of what UPS charged them for the box they sent me.

Like I said, you decide.

I have purchased from This company and be warned fellow gardeners that this company az gardens does not grow or raise their own plants and aquatic life which they claim on their website.
The high rate of DOA is due to the fact that they have all thier live goods and plants tran shipped to them. They will place a huge order with their supplier who is in California. The supplier or transhipper gets in the live goods from overseas. They are then sent toAZ GARDENS. By the time AZ gardens gets the order form his transhipper in CALIFORNIA, The fish, shrimp and snails have spent at least 3 days in a bag. If you examine their packaging closely you will notice that the materials used is Not of US origin.
Their plants are purchased from Florida Aquatic Nursery. They lie about growing their own plants. They will never allow you to see thier facilities or pick it up locally!! Now you know why

I should have read the other comments before ordering from this company, so I would have known that they were hard to deal with!! I received plants that were frozen. ( I assumed that they froze when they were left outside my door, and that would be the carrier's fault, but the package did not say that it was plants, that they needed to be handled with care, that they could not freeze, or anything for the carrier to know.) The package was a beat up old cardboard box with the plants in plastic bags with a piece of newspaper covering them! Hello, they were being shipped to NY...it is the middle of winter!!! I contacted the company 4 times. I left two voice mail messages, and two e-mail messages. I also in good faith placed 2 more orders asking for a reduction in total of each one as a reimbursement. I received nothing. The reply I received was totally out of line....not sure who the guy is within the company that has been contacting me, but, wow, he is bad for this company's business....he started out by saying he did not get my messages, that "e-mail glitches are common"...after a few e-mails back and forth, he became personal..stating that, "reacting is not healthy", and that if I posted on a forum that I could land in serious legal trouble....I became sooo frustrated. Most companies will work with you, even if they don't think they are at fault to keep a customer. All I wanted was for them to reimburse me half of the cost of the plants. The e-mail that I received was totally out of line, ( he was threatening me, and chastizing me like he was my father). If I had any thought about using this company again, this person made it so there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I WOULD ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN!!!!

Oh, how I wish I had done my research! Like many others, it never really occurred to me to have to do so; I have purchased so many fish from so many vendors and have NEVER had a DOA!
That said, let's start at the beginning. I placed an order on Dec. 16 for 6 Irian Red Rainbowfish. I expected to have the fish shipped either the next day (Friday) or Monday at the latest as is customary with all other live fish merchants I have dealt with. I noted they charged my AMEX on the 23rd, so I assumed I would see fish the next day. Numerous voicemails were either not returned or unable to be left due to full mailbox. Same with Emails. By Wednesday the 29th I disputed the charge with AMEX and contacted AAG to cancel the order. Guess what? Instead of cancelling, they finally shipped the order! Next day, I was at home when UPS dropped off this strange looking box which i opened immediately and turned out to be 6 DOA fish. The packaging was totally inadequate, just some thin Styrofoam (hello? it's WINTER!), very little water and a few greens thrown in for good measure, and not marked "live fish". Poor things.....

Despite the grave reviews I saw online & the rebuttals from the company claiming reviews were written by competitors I decided to place an order. I ordered 9 fish & used their default shipping ($42.00 - pretty standard charge for overnight fish delivery). Fish arrived in a cardboard box with bags inside wrapped in newspaper & bubble wrap. The water had leaked out of one bag completely & two of the 9 fish (5 different species) I had ordered were DOA. By about 4 days later all were dead but one. The survivor by the way was a fish that I did not even order, he was automatically sent by the company as a sub for the fish I ordered. Contacted the company immediately & when everyone else died, the same person whom I had spoken with 3 times was pretty nonchalant about the whole thing & offered to credit my account for the 2 DOA's. He also informed me I would have to pay shipping again to reorder! Have been keeping fish for over 15 years & have ordered online many times before & since ordering with this company. I called before I ordered & questioned the company about the bad reviews & let me warn you they have smooth operators answering the phone who assured me I would not be sorry I chose to give them a chance. HEED MY WARNING SHOP ELSEWHERE!!!!!! At this point I paid $80 for the one remaining live fish & $60 for the order I placed elsewhere for the fish who died from this company--by the way the ones from another company came packaged appropriately in a cooler & are all healthy & happy swimming in my tank!

I think that the 3 positive comments in the sea of negative feedback are fake!! They are probably listed by the employees / owners of the organization. They are fish killers and I will not support their horrifying business with my hard earned dollars.

I placed an order for 9 Crossocheilus Siamensis (Siamese Algae Eaters) with Arizona Aquatic Gardens on Monday 7/12/10. The order came quickly (7/13/10), and I was happy because I didn’t want my fish to be overly stressed or in shock from the travel. I opened the box and three of the 9 fish were DOA. The interior of the box was hot. These fish cannot survive an environment warmer than 78 degrees. The remaining fish were placed in the tank to adapt to the temp change for 2 hours. I was not able to find three of the fish on Wed (7/14/10) by Thursday (7/15/10) I found the fish at the bottom of the tank dead.

On Tuesday, after opening the box with dead fish I sent an email with no response. When I found there were more dead fish I called their listed numbers. One maintains the message that the mail box was full, while the other remains ringing. I then sent another email requesting some resolution. Shortly there after I did a google review search for Arizona Aquatic Gardens and found so many reviews just as the one I am currently writing. I see that people have been charged multiple times after the sale was complete, that is a big no no and considered fraudulent activity. Fish are constantly DOA and there is no satisfaction in their service.

When I made my way half way down the page and noticed all the negative feedback, I called American Express. (Thank god for their guarantee policy) and notified them about the 66% death rate from my order. They reversed the cost of the six fish, charging it back to Arizona Aquatic Gardens, and blocked them from making any future transactions to my account.

There are much better fish suppliers to be found on the net. DO NOT order from these people. Fish to me are like my children, I take very good care of them and ensure that they have all of their needs met. For someone to send them in such heat is disgusting! They directly or out of ignorance murdered what should have been my new babis. They are horrible, unprofessional nightmares!!!!!

I sent the following e-mail to onlineorders@azgardens.com, 4/24/10:
“I question the recent charge by you on my Visa credit card. I placed an order on 4/21/10 (order # 104847) and the total on my receipt was $48.37. The post to my credit card on 4/22/10 was $74.20. What’s with the additional $25.83? I would have expected notification by you regarding this charge. I don’t believe that this would be for shipping based on my previous order 4/10/10 (order# 106377) – The receipt on that order was $39.29 and posted to my credit card at $44.29. The additional $5.00 on this order was acceptable as covering shipment.
The additional $25.83 on my latest order is unacceptable and I would like an explanation. I understand that you are closed on weekends, so will postpone calling my credit card company to dispute this charge until 4:00pm (MST), Monday 4/26/10, expecting a reply from you prior at either my-mail addr or (260) my phone nbr If I do not hear from you I would also want my current order cancelled.
Sorry for placing this time limit, but as a customer feel it’s a fair request. I tried calling your company once at 520-742-3474 and twice at 520-742-3777 late yesterday afternoon (Fri, 4/23/10) - Your 520-742-3474 goes directly to a “”This mailbox is full” message (also defaulted to this message when I called for a status on order # 106377) and there was no answer at your 520-742-3777. I also feel that sending a simple e-mail requesting an explanation would not be responded to - This assumption is based on two previously unanswered e-mail asking for a status on my first order prior to it being shipped.”

This e-mail was never responded to. They made a shipment in spite of this e-mail. Since, my credit card was charged an additional $53.37 and $64.74!

Of 4 Red Cherry Shrimp ordered, 2 arrived DOA. Of 3 Siamese Algae Eaters, 1 arrived DOA and 1 was deformed and died within 24 hours. Another was dead this morning. I have a very large, well established tank. I take water chemistry readings every other day…Yesterday’s (4/29/10) reading: Ammonia 0 ppm, Nitrite 0 ppm, Nitrate 0 ppm and Ph 6.4. Chemistry is not a factor. I figure, why bother contacting them as they would probably never respond or if they did, they would probably charge my card again!

What am I doing about it:

1. I’ve contacted my credit card company and am sending supporting documentation.
2. I am filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), [HYPERLINK@www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov]
3. I am filing a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), //www.ic3.gov. This also gets the information to the Internet Fraud Complaint Center (IFCC) and FBI.
4. I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) - Check them out on the BBB web site.
5. I am also sending a complaint with supporting documentation to newspapers and television stations in their area. I will send the same to their local DA's office.

I placed an order on March 10th and they charged my credit card on the 17th. When I did not receive my order according to the shipping faq on their website, I tried to call. I reached a recording that said their mailbox was full and could not accept any more messages. I emailed them on the 24th and received no reply. I've tried calling them several times since on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as they suggest on their website and always get that same recording.

I have had the bank issue a chargeback today after another unsuccessful attempt to contact them. I cannot reach them by phone, they do not respond to email and they have charged my account for merchandise ordered nearly a month ago that they have not shipped. I would strongly recommend avoiding this company altogether and making your purchases elsewhere.

On April 9th, 2010, mad4roses added the following:

Well...

I thought I'd check my account today to see if my credit went through and there was a surprise waiting for me. My original email receipt from them was for $35.20. The original charge they made against my account was for $40.20. I assumed the additional $5.00 was for shipping. Today, when I checked my account - I see they have just posted another additional charge of $15.78 today. (Interesting how that happened immediately after my dispute was filed.)

We are now up to $55.98 for $35.00 worth of snails, plus the $36.00 the bank charged for the dispute, plus possibly another $36.00 to dispute this new charge of $15.78 (it's pending - I have to wait until it posts before I can dispute) - for a grand total of $127.98. For snails. That I don't have.

Nice, eh?
On April 14th, 2010, mad4roses added the following:

I have discovered (through the powers of my own deduction, certainly not through any effort to communicate on AAG's part) that the additional charge was for shipping. So it was $20.78 total to ship a $35.20 order that arrived in a box that would be too small to ship a Rubik's cube.

Apparently, they decided to suddenly send my order after I disputed the charge through my bank. 14 of the snails I ordered were DOA, but I'm done. I called the bank and told them to let AAG keep the money.

Their indifference, the complete absence of any communication, the inability to contact anyone when a problem arises, the ridiculously high and hidden shipping fees, the month-long silent wait and the dead snails is a lesson learned. I won't be back.

I should have done my homework, but I guess I've become a bit lax after having such good internet purchasing experiences for many years. My plants -- $60.57 worth -- arrived mostly frozen, packed in a too-large box in plastic bags and newspaper. Not even a warmer in the dead of winter. I had stupidly assumed the $5 "box" fee would include either a warmer or one of those nice little styrofoam boxes -- or both. Of course, to be fair, I need to mention an ice storm delayed delivery; nonetheless, the plants were not packed for winter shipping. I have sent two emails, the first asking [per the website instructions] what action should be taken, the second asking for a refund of $17.94 for three plants that were not included. I have received no response. In addition, the website says everything is "fully guaranteed" -- except for any problems incurred during shipping. Further reading in another section of the website states pretty clearly that things aren't truly guaranteed: "It is YOUR #1 responsibility to properly acclimate your new aquatic life, and make sure your tank has all of the appropriate water parameters and environmental requirements the particular species needs to thrive. DOA's that occur after your animals are installed in your water are your responsibility." BTW, that includes plants. So, how wonderful! Let's all leave the frozen plants in nearly dry, frozen plastic bags instead of attempting to revive them! I'd also like to mention quality: I paid $29.99 for "Java Fern Lace mounted on driftwood." The website states: "Microsorium pteropus "windelov") Lace Java Fern mounted on Driftwood These are 10 - 12" pieces of driftwood with about 20+ plants of Lace Java Fern generously rooted in." I received 4 root sections with 18 individual leaves not "rooted in" but superglued onto the driftwood. The white superglue is very ugly and is clearly new as there are no roots actually attached to the wood.
Finally, the shipping, which just showed up on my credit card, was a whopping $53.02. So in total, I've spent $136.53 [including the charge for the three plants not shipped] for some mostly -- others totally -- dead plants and a piece of driftwood covered with ugly white superglue. I don't know who I'll buy from next, but it won't be this guy.

Just a quick update: still no response to my emails. I guess they simply ignore complaints.
On April 9th, 2010, lkarnatz added the following:

Not only did they not advise the freight charges, but they immediately charged my card for the goods....$10.00 more than they quoted! As soon as I saw that the charge had been made for more than the quoted selling price, I e-mailed the company canceling the order and demanding a refund. Within a day I got a confirming e-mail stating that my card had been credited....again not true. We went around and around on this until I simply decided that this was a scam operation and turned the matter over to my credit card company. They got the issue resolved but it took 30 days to do so.

I am a California lawyer and my husband's immediate notice to them not to ship weeks before is a legally sufficient notice of recission. I responded tto Ms. Jones email that I would likely submit an order on the next Monday, i.e., Nov. 9, which is a pretty clear indication of our understanding that we had not ordered anything. On November 4, I visited this website and others, and became aware of problems others have had with AZG. At that point I had no intention of ever ordering from AZG. That afternoon to my great surprise, without any acknowledgment of any order or any notice of shipping, we received a package containing two dead, one dying, and three stressed but living CPDs, packed in a huge used box for which we were charged $5 in a bag containing charcoal or some similar abrasive. Shipping costs were nearly $32. Two more fish died before the day was out, and the next day, the last one died in his hospital tank. I sent photos. Today Jones offers to give us a credit or replace the two that I can prove were DOA, i.e., $13.98. Out of pocket loss on this transaction is $76.00, for which we received absolutely nothing of value. Why would I spend another $32 in shipping, $5 in box fees to possibly recover less than $14! STAY AWAY from this vendor.

I paid $41.24 for the snails and $14.30 for shipping. At that time, I called and talked to Peter who said he would ship out a replacement because their shipment is guaranteed. The reship consisted of snails I didn't order (15 Olive Nerites), plus they charged me another $37.98 for overnight shipping. When I called Peter, he said I would have to pay extra for overnight shipping. I could not seem to get him to understand that I didn't order what I received. I emailed several times with no response. I finally called and spoke to Nick who said he didn't know how that error happened and that he would refund that shipping cost and send the original order. Neither event has happened. On 6/19, I finally emailed and asked that they cancel my order. Nick replied that my order would be shipped Tuesday June 23. This shipment also never took place. I emailed again asking that they cancel my order. I have since gotten my pond snails locally. I also have filed a complaint with the BBB. AZgardens has not responded to them either. I only used AZgardens because they were closer to Utah, but I'm now back to using thepondguy.com.

I too have been a victim of AAG's shipping "policy". As a first time customer only because I received an unsolicited $6.00 coupon in my email, did I make the mistake of ordering from this company. Due to their policy of not determining shipping fees till shipment, they do not include the shipping fees on the invoice for what you purchased.. I ordered a few plants, less than $30.00 worth and was charged $50.55 for FedEx Priority Overnight Shipping separately. I was stunned when I saw this amount appear on my credit card. I have never purchased anything on-line that I wasn't privy to all charges prior to shipment. I took the advice of another writer in this area and have filed a complaint with the Arizona BBB. I encourage everyone to do the same.

UPDATE: After forwarding my dispute information to my credit card company regarding the unprofessional and blind billing issues with AAG, I just received a full refund on the order and shipping. I also provided the BBB rating of "F" and they are not an accredited business due to their failure to address the majority of complaints.

I have some issues with this company, although they also have some good points. They billed me when I ordered the minimum order size of mosquito fish (51 for $35.19 + $5 for box). I prefer to be billed when they ship, especially since they didn't ship for 3 weeks. They also do not send email so you never really know what is going on. They were very polite when I called, and did call back when I left a message. The fish arrived just fine. The BIG problem was the cost of the shipping. They claim they can't calculate shipping until they ship, and then they make a second charge on your credit card for shipping. In my case they shipped to Colorado, not far from AZ, but the fish were shipped in a large styrofoam box FedEx Priority. I was shocked when I was charged $81.36 for shipping. This is very high and I would NOT have ordered the fish for $35 had I known it would result in $120+. Just be prepared for this. This was not the handling charge, but the actual shipping charge from FedEx.

Back just before 9/11 this I ordered plants fish and tools from this company. They told me twice my order had shipped. Turns out only half of it had shipped. When I asked about the rest they came up with this lame (jingoistice) excuse that it was the muslims fault!? They specifically pointed out they did not want to deal with the muslims (Pakistanis) that were supplying some of their tools. They expeceted me to take their side! 9/11 was terrible but to use it as an excuse for your TERRIBLE service was awful. I decided never to use them agian

I ordered several Nerite snails from AZ Aquatic Gardens. After waiting over a week for an order confirmation, I emailed the company to inquire about the order. I never received any snails from them. This company is a FRAUD. Do not buy from them.

I ended up paying $40 more in shipping than expected.
The plants were sent out on Thursday, holding them up in the fedex center for the weekend, with my smaller plants arriving like squishy spinach. We'll see if they live.

Won't buy from them again.

I just had a situation with a "Arizona Aquatic Gardens". I emailed them asking about a SOLD OUT fish on their web site and this is a copy of the email they sent back. I thought it was unprofessional and RUDE!

(This text was ALL BOLD Notice they don't have spell check) ...
You must re-read the site. We have a $35 dollar minimu for live goods. and we DO NOT sll sexed fish, this is mentioned on every fish page on the site. I copied and pasted below. (End bold text. This was copied from their page. I didn't change a thing)
We ship most "Fish, Shrimp, & Snail Only" Orders out on Tues nights.
We do NOT sell sexed animals, please do not request paired or sexed fish.
Please make sure your live good order is at least $35 bucks. There is NO minimum order amount for shipping dry good or non-perishable items. You may combine Dry Goods and Live Goods to get to our $35.00 mnimum. (I didn't touch the spelling. That's all on them!) We always ship "Plant Only" Orders out on Thurs nights.
YES, You may combine Fish, Shrimp & Snails with your Plant Order and they will be shipped in one box on Thursday night as well. You must have your order placed by Monday night at 7pm for same week delivery. Orders placed after our Monday deadline will ship
the following week. You will get an email confirmation from us
when your order ships out.
All of this information is available in more detailed form by clicking the "Ordering" or "Shippng" (more spell check needed!) tab above
end message.......
With this said. I won't be buying fish or plants from them, and I won't be emailing with stupid questions. They may have me arrested next time!

I will never purchase any living item from them again. Their plants came in in good order. They shipped the clams in wet printed newsprint with no water in a plastic bag.. I thought everyone knew how toxic the ink was on newsprint. I guess these people do not know.

I emailed them twice with no response. And I still haven't been charged for shipping yet.

After only two days, all 21 shrimp have died along with the flying fox and an Oto. The shipping box was POORLY insulated - just the top and bottom with 1/2" styrofoam and a hand warmer on the bottom. The temp of the water in the bags was 60F. I picked up at the Fedex store.

I took two hours to aclimate the shrimp. They looked great when they went in, but in two days, they all croaked. My tank is well established and stable.

I should have questioned their intentions when I noticed my presale questions were not being answered. I was anxious, so I went ahead and ordered. Mistake.

I just finished submitting a Credit Card dispute.

When the forecast is 10 F, you would think they would delay or better insulate. Wrong.

I am very disappointed. I cringe at the thought of looking at my Overnight shipping cost. Just like my stock portfolio, I will not look until the statement comes.

Avoid these people at all cost. They want to sell only.

Save your money. Do not buy fish from this company. Their aquatic plants are still OK but their customer service is very poor now. They used to be a good company years ago before they started to offer tropical fish. It is hard to envision this company will survive in a long run with such poor feedbacks, considering they are many other companies who offer much better service and prices out there.

I have been royally screwed on shipping charges and have lost the fish I ordered! I ordered 5 siamese algae eaters and 6 cherry shrimp, the total for these was around $57. When I went thru the online checkout there was an estimate given of $35 dollars or so for shipping. The day after I received the package 4 of the 5 SAEs were dead, and I found the 5th one dead this morning. I've seen a couple of the shrimp, but fear that some of these may be dead as well. My tank is already established with several other fish that are doing perfectly fine right now. I called AAG today to find out what they could do about this. The guy I talked to just told me about all the stuff that I could have done wrong, talking about adding salt and other chemicals to my tank, then he told me that he'd send me some new fish if I'd pay for the shipping again. However, he couldn't tell me how much that would be. He switched me back to another person who looked up what I had paid for shipping. There's a reason they don't tell you when you order what shipping will be, because the shipping charges on my order (for a 4 lb. 10"x10"x10" box) was $76!! What a freaking ripoff!!! Don't waste your time or money on these clowns.

I ordered from Arizona Aquatic Gardens in July. They did not have the items I wanted in stock so I then canceled my order. I had several major problems with this company.

1.) Yesterday, November 13, I found a package on my porch. After opening this package, I noticed it was packed with bags of fish. They sent my order 4 months after the date of purchase, and after I canceled my order!!!!

2.) In addition, their website states: "Back orders generally stay in our system for 4 weeks automatically, after that they are cancelled. You will have to order them at a later date when they become available." WHY DID I RECIEVE A SHIPMENT FROM THIS COMPANY FOUR MONTHS LATER, EVEN AFTER EMAILING THEM TO CANCEL MY ORDER?!?!

2.) After cancelling my order, my credit card account was never credited.

3.) I received no email from Arizona Aquatic Gardens that this shipment was being sent. Therefore I was left to improvise on an aquarium for the livestock. However, I did receive a tracking report email from FED EX. I just so happened to check my email after the fish arrived.

4.) They sent me the WRONG SPECIES. I had ordered two bumblebee gobies of the species Brachygobius doriae, which are a brackish water fish. I received four freshwater bumblebee goby species, Brachygobius xanthomelas. These are obviously different from the brackish water species. They have a horizontal band running through their eye, their dorsal fins greatly differ, they are less robust then their counterparts, and they are very ugly compared to the other species.

5.) Arizona Aquatic Gardens also replaced a tiger goby with two bumblebee gobies, without my permission. The statement indicates that this was done at no charge, except cost of the Tiger Sleeper Goby was not removed from my bill. In addition, two bumblebee gobies cost $7.96 while a tiger sleeper goby cost $9.98, a difference of $2.02.

6.) A tongue sole I had orderd was DOA.

After my encounters with Arizona Aquatic Gardens, I wouldn't recommend anyone to order anything from them.

I ordered a lotus earlier this year, received it when promised and though it was small it did appear to be a healthy root. I will be attempting to contact the company soon as it has yet to send up any viable leaves. The root still feels firm, but all it has managed are three very spindly stems with no leaf formation on the ends. I will up-date here with their response. The reason I am commenting now is the cost of shipping. I sure wish I had read comments here before ordering. The plant total with tax was $41. Shipping was $45!! Not overnight.....just their standard rates. I won't be ordering again soon.

If I had known about the shipping costs, I would never have considered using this company. The shipping cost nearly as much as the order, and the order was a little over $100. That, in my opinion, is ridiculous, and misleading, especially to withhold costs and then give estimative figures as low as 20-$45 on their website. What do you have to do to get $45 in shipping, order a single plant or fish? This is a qualified negative review, however, as Arizona Aquatics does have some good points.

The fish arrived in remarkably good condition, though the corydora species ordered was not the corydora species that arrived. It was a species that I personally like bettter, however, so I wasn't too upset. In fact, I was rather pleased that Arizona Aquatics isn't as abreast in corydora identification as I am. The plants are also healthy, albeit on the smallish side, and I, as a aquatic plant specialist, do not agree on their method of transporting plants. It is too hot in the Summer to rely only on a plastic bag. You need at least a soaked paper towel or newspaper to keep the leaves moist.

It is a shame, really, about the shipping, because otherwise, I would gladly continue to give them my business. I've ordered plants online and opted for Overnight, and at the most, have been charged $45, for an order that weighed twice as much as this order did. Truely a shame.

A long story short, if you've got the dough to fork over for shipping and want some quality stock, by all means, use Arizona aquatics.
