ordered by mail as online is not possible.did talk to Jordan on the phone, but no return call from leaving message on answering machine. we received 2 boxes of 500 cabbage and 1000 plants labeled broccoli that are purple cabbage. all are plugs, but we ordered field-grown cabbage and float tray plugs of broccoli. order came a week early--in the coldest temperatures that we had all year. low of 5 degrees. the plants were really cold!! we have not received instruction as to what to do with wrong plants and do not know if we should expect broccoli. sent pictures for confirmation of type, but e-mail is returned undeliverable. each year we saythis is our last and it seems we have reached our limit of forgiveness. sorry Mr. evans.

We have ordered many times over the years from Evans Plant Company and have been satisfied, but this year (2013) we have not received our cabbage plants which were suppose to be here three weeks ago. I have tried emailing and have had everyone kicked back to me. I've left 4 voice mail messages and have not a had a call back about the order. It is very interesting that they can return a call when you say you want to order but never when you have a complaint. We still have an order of sweet potato slips that should arrive the first part of May. We will see. Of course, our credit card was charged as soon as the phone order was placed not at a time of shipment as so many other businesses do. Very disappointed with them this year.

The last few times I have order plants at Evans I 've been very disapointed with their plants.Order onions plants , they came wet and rotten, ordered cabbage, collards and broccoli plants and they are just tangled mess. The count is never right, always short. The plants are to small and die right away and forget about them answering the phone.
I said this before ,but did anyway but I will never buy from Evans Plant again.

I see this company is just as bad as it was 20 years ago. I had the same experience of getting small, rotten, mush for Tomato and Pepper plants. I was not able to get any help or satisfaction from Evans and ended up making an order through piedmont to get good plants.

We have been customers of Evan's Plant Company for 3 years; we never had a problem with the company until this year. We have had 4 shipments so far with another due today. We ordered all at one time. None of the plants were bundled and were literally thrown in the boxes. Out of 8 different items ordered so far, only one of them came complete and able to plant all of them. We can only hope our Sweet Potatoes come in a plantable condition.

On April 4th, we received Broccoli (half of the plants are planted, the other half (well the rest of the box) was just trash and I do mean trash. It looked like someone had raked up what fell on the floor at the end of the day and threw it in the box. Our Collards were beautiful. The Cauliflower and Cabbage arrived looking very sad, we planted anyway and they died within 2 days.
On April 11th, we received 1000 (?) Celebrity tomato plants. They were 2 inches tall and we barely got 200 of them planted. They are still pretty small after a month in the ground and we question whether they will even produce.
On May 3rd, we received 1000 tomato plants; these were good sized, but they were soaking wet and rotten in the box and we couldn't use any of them. They smelled like rotting tomato plants upon opening the box.
On May 10th, we received our order of 500 King Arthur Pepper plants, but only received 400. They were quite small and we counted everyone that was planted, we threw away only 1 or 2.
Today, we are expecting our shipment of sweet potatoes and will check them out.
Since the first shipment, we have called Mr. Evans 6 times and left messages; he never returned a call. Yesterday, I finally got him on the phone (by a stroke of luck). We very nicely explained to him on the phone what happened and he got very defensive saying "I don't send trash." Then he said, "I just send the plants; I don't guarantee they arrive to you alive."
He will not do anything to rectify this situation and I have called my credit card company who is disputing and collecting the prorated amount of the plants that we lost. Our total bill with them was almost $600 and it puts us in a lurch as we counted on those plants for our CSA and market sales.
Buyer Beware

Nothing but trouble with this company. Plants were delivered without labels and looked like they were stomped into the box. Company would not answer emails and when we finally got someone on the phone they said they would send a new order. IT WAS EVEN WORSE. The plants were wrapped in plastic and the mold that covered them smelled so badly my daughter became ill.

I took pictures to document for legal purposes. Have sent 5 emails and not one response.
