I have ordered from Palatine Roses for a nunber of years, as well as other nurseries providing roses. Palatine is always the best. Their roses are large and healthy and have huge roots. They have a wonderful selection of German ADR roses that have been tested for hardiness and disease resistance - important to me as I have a no spray garden in Northern Michigan. This is a family owned nursery and they have always been wonderful about communicating with me, quickly answering any questions and extremely helpful. The have on-line videos to show how to planta bare-root roses, how to prune roses, etc.

Thanks to a member named, coriaceous, I decided to buy from Palatine. I ordered from 5 different online shops. These roses by far came in the heartiest and sturdiest. They are much more mature than the rest. They were packaged impeccably. I will report back as my beauty's mature. Definitely throw in the couple extra bucks to order from here. I am thankful to all the people who wrote reviews as it helped me determine where to buy this year. The other places I ordered from were Chamblees (very young roses, but packaged nice), Witherspoon (ordered one China Doll Tree Rose, packaged great, had growth, and hearty), Jackson & Perkins (All tree roses, packaged great, dormant, starting to see very little grown), Edmunds (great packaging, healthy, received this first and already see growth). I'm not an advanced rose-grower, I'd say I'm intermediate. I live in Southeastern Massachusetts and am hoping for the best that I can have my own rose garden. I've been successful with perennials and they have all been translated elsewhere for my 30-40 roses.

I just received my spring order, 15 roses. All were healthy, hydrated, and huge---I wasn't expecting such large roots. Customer service was friendly and efficient. And this is one of the few places where US gardeners can get disease-resistant Kordes roses, so much nicer than Knockouts.

Thumbs up!

Great company run by a family who genuinely care about their customers and their products. Had several helpful conversations with Rachel and Rachel's Dad (sorry, senior moment on the gentleman's name).

As others have written, the roses arrived when promised, and they were impressive. Whomping roots and strong, healthy canes. All 17 have leafed out and are growing vigorously. Palatine is my "go to" company for roses; I highly recommend them.

Happy customer here. Palatine should be one of the top 5. Best place to buy rare roses as bareroot type. Long multiple canes and healthy long roots, nothing to worry about cut back the broken/damaged canes and roots before planting. Be prepare the large tank for initial soaking, definitely won't fit in the 5 gallons bucket. Plants are grow really quick. Just need to know that canadian multiflora bare root roses are not much stockier than bare roots available in here, but this is not a problem. Delivered as promise date, easy to place the order online, and lots of rare/beautiful varities to choose. Thanks

I purchased again this year from Palatine and flawless transaction. Only trick on purchasing canadian roses is that better buy in fall. Usually our rose season starts on end of December or early January but that time I cannot request roses from Canada to shipped until end of February or March. So I ordered in Fall and slight protected them, roses look fine and leaves out as US roses. This is a first time ever I grows bare root in Fall. Another benefit is that I can get more selection than Spring order. I hope they offer more european varieties which are not available in US. I'm wishing Black Magic HT and Summer Song DA..please!

I had not bought roses from Palatine before, but was looking for Kordes roses and wanted to give them a try. I ordered five Kordes bare root rose bushes this spring. The staff were very helpful and responsive to my questions. Each bush arrived in excellent shape, with multiple canes and the best root systems I have ever seen on bare root roses. The bushes leafed out immediately, and are now in bloom a little over two months after planting. I will never order roses from anyone else.

Everything was positve here. Customer service, timely responses and above all, giant roses. What I really appreciate most about the 4 roses I ordered was the giant root systems and clean grafts. The multiflora understock seemed to grow right up to the bud union, without the telltale 2 inch gap you sometimes get when roses are grafted onto Dr. Huey. All canes were nice as well. The roses are growing nicely now, and I anticipate them becoming very large and healthy plants. Already have my next order in for fall shipping.

I had a bit of trouble trying to sign in on their website to place my order, mostly because I was using an older browser. I emailed Rachel and she was amazing enough to take my order right then through email. Communication was fast and efficient. I asked for a shipment in late April so she put in April 30th for me, but was more than willing to change it to the 23rd if that was too late. Rachel is great to work with !
The roses were shipped on the 30th and arrived at my door the next morning. I was very pleased with the fast shipping, well packaged box and the enormous, healthy roses! Extremely happy with my order and will definitely order from Palatine again.

I ordered my roses from Palatine this year based on the varieties they had available, and the glowing comments on this website. I always read reviews of online companies, there are just so many that the experience of others is important when selecting a new one to deal with. Well, my roses arrived this week and they were beautiful. They were large, with lots of roots, and nice sized canes, and very healthy looking. I had occasion to deal with customer service and they were friendly and responsive. I will definitely order from them again. I can't wait until my roses start to bloom!

I just received and planted my very first order from Palatine.
I need to warn people that you will need to dig HUGE holes!
They send the largest bareroots with enormous root systems, superior to any I have received.
I normally can soak 3 roses per 5-gallon bucket but with the Palatine roses, a single rose took up the entire bucket. These are the most impressive bareroots I've ever gotten and I've ordered HUNDREDS.
The canes are green and moist and look like they will take off right
away. Shipping by UPS only took 2 days to get here in New Hampshire from Ontario. I have found my new favorite vendor and
am already thinking ahead to next year's order!

I have ordered roses from Palatine for the last two years and have just placed my order for this coming spring. I have several hundred roses on my property and have used many suppliers for pot grown and bare root roses. These are the best quality bare roots I have ever purchased---large, healthy canes and root systems. The service is great and the selections are wonderful.
Many thanks to them for some of my favorite varieties.

I'm a member of the Western Reserve Rose Society. My club orders from Palatine's every Fall. I've done this for two years (and will this year as well). The quality is first class. Their roses out bloomed and out classed my other roses IN THEIR FIRST YEAR.

Although it could be pricey to buy from this company if you live in the USA, if you live in a colder climate like I do (Northeastern Ohio), you can be sure that the roses received will do well over winter (I plant these in the Fall, yes it works) and will be the first ones up and blooming.

Their customer service (I use email) is prompt and helpful. No problems here.

I recommend this group.

I just received 6 roses from Palatine's. Fantastic. These roses are so much healthier than what I've received from other companies. I highly recommend them.

Note : I purchased these roses and have planted them in November. I live in Northeast Ohio outside of Cleveland. Because these roses survived Canandian winters this works out very well. I should have a headstart on Spring.

I have ordered roses from Palatine three times now and I am in absolute awe at the fabulous quality of the bareroots I have received from them every time. The root systems are huge and uncut. There are alot of little hairy feeler roots still attached which is excellent because they start soaking up the water first thing when the rose is planted. The stems are plump, thick, and dark green and well hydrated showing no signs of wrinkling or disease. The price is very fair for the quality of the rose I receive from them. They seem to specialize in Kordes roses but do have many other breeders roses as well. I hope that they continue to add to their catalog with more exhibition type hybrid teas, grandiflora's, floribunda's, and mini's.
All of their roses are budded onto R.Multiflora rootstock including the mini's. I think they are the only mail order vendor currenly budding mini and mini-flora's to R.Multiflora rootstock. Many folks have started budding their little roses onto Fortuniana but I think Palatine is the only one using multiflora. This is a boon since a large portion of the continent cannot grow fortuniana because of the cold winters that would kill them.
Lastly, their customer service is second to none anywhere. Rahel Berardocco is the customer service agent for mail order and internet sales. She is a gem to work with and is super friendly and knowledgeable as well.
I will continue to order from Palatine every time I possibly can when buying new roses. I hope they continue to add and update their rose offerings. I think if I were a serious breeder, I would work a deal with Palatine to introduce my new rose offerings to the general public for commercial sale.
If you haven't ordered from Palatine yet you are definitely missing out on a good deal. Give them a try and I am sure you will be as pleased as I am with their roses.

UPDATE 7/2009
I ordered three climbers from Palatine this Spring--Salita, Harlekin, and Roberta Bondar.
All three bareroots arrived as scheduled and I was amazed at the quality of these bareroots. They are easily the best bareroot roses I have ever received from anyone, anywhere. I planted them immediately after recieving them and letting them soak for 24 hours in a QuikStart/Water mix even though they really were still good and moist and showed no signs of dryness at all. Each one had at least 6 huge beautiful plump canes and huge root systems that were to die for. All three roses broke dormancy with ease and have continued to grow so vigorously that I am amazed.
I do think that the price of the roses and the cost of shipping is a little higher than most, but the quality of the roses you receive from Palatine really make the difference very minimal. You realy get your money's worth when ordering from Palatine.
And of course their customer service cannot be beat by anyone. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful and completely honest with the customer which I really appreciate.
All in all, there just are no better bareroot roses available from anywhere on the continent.
If you haven't tried ordering from Palatine you are really missing out on a good thing.
The only thing I can even think is negative is that they still need to expand their selection some more. However, at the rate they are expanding their availability of roses it won't be long until they are on an even ground with other on-line nurseries in just a short time.

This is an organic rose nursery which is specializing in the Kordes ADR roses. These are roses that have high disease resistance and many blooms. Most are floribundas but many are also hybrid teas. They are excellent for organic growers and have been bred as Germany has now not allowed any cosmetic chemicals to be used in gardening. I have many of them and can tell you that in my garden they are disease free and very vigorous.

I ordered three roses and selected ground transportation, from Canada to Calif. I was a bit worried but figured with the cooler weather, they would be fine. Upon arrival, despite having been in transit for a week, the roses were packaged so nicely that the roots were still moist and look fresh and healthy. The plants themselves were amazingly large, certainly compared to what one finds in the box stores.
A definite high recommendation for this mail order company!

My only regret is that I ordered 22 from Pickering and 11 from Palatine and I wish it would have been the other way around.

I ordered three roses in Fall/winter 2006. Two of the roses were sent as requested in April 2007. They were wonderful, huge bareroots. The third rose was too small to ship, but will be shipped next year. The two roses sent are doing very well and one is on its fifth bloom already. I am very happy with the quality of their roses and am already planning a list for next year.

I will second the acknowledgement here on the fantastic quality of Palatine's bareroot roses. I will further add that this family owned and operated business is a true pleasure to conduct business with. They are immensely accomodating, friendly and knowledgeable about the roses they grow.
The size of the Palatine bare-roots, the quality of the canes and the general garden performance once they are planted, has truly exceeded any other rose vendor I have dealt with to date and I have been purchasing and planting roses for well over 15 years now.

Although their selection is still somewhat limited and has a predominance towards Kordes bred varieties, they now ship to the U.S. and I believe them to be the best source of grafted roses on multi-flora that you will find in Canada and likely North America.

To place these remarks into context, my friends, family and I have been long-time customers of Pickering nurseries and still believe they have excellent bare-root roses and a fanastic selection, but that their customer service has deteriorated in recent years. Although I have not experienced it directly, many people have complained about inferior quality plants since they moved from their old Pickering, Ontario site to a new location in Port Hope, Ontario. While I still fully believe they deserve the excellent international reputation they carry in the industry, here is to hoping they correct some of their recent deficencies in customer service and plant quality.

In either case, Palatine roses is a source that should be tried and will provide you with a more than viable alternative for excellent roses grafted on multiflora and with exceptional customer service. You will be hard pressed to find better!

I have been growing roses in this location for more than ten years. I have about 250+ roses (who is counting? :-)

Palatine roses sent me the best bare roots I have ever received from any vendor and I ordered from most.

Palatine has also proved false the myth that roses grafted on multiflora or grown in Canada's short growing season are necessarily smaller when we receive them and they should not be compared to roses grafted on dr. Huey because Dr. Hueys are bigger by definition. My soil likes multiflora grafted roses and I had no problem with smaller plants coming from Canada if they were healthy.

Nonetheless the roses sent by Palatine were much much bigger than any Dr. Huey grafted rose I have ever received.

In the future they will be my number one vendors except if I am dying to get a rose and they do not carry it.

Let me add that Palatine roses offer some new roses that nobody else has in North America. It is a great pleasure to deal with this company. They are not only friendly but they are extremely knowledgeable and dependable.
