Paul is one in a million. He obviously loves what he does because he is brewing with enthusiasm. He is exceedingly generous and his plants are some of the very finest in my garden. The climate here can be a challenge for daylilies but virtually all of Paul's plants have thrived. I could go on for hours, but let me just say you will always be a happy customer with Paul.

I met Paul when he spoke to our daylily club, and he was one of the most entertaining people I've ever come across. I was also very impressed by his philosophy: the performance of his plants is more important than the flower itself. He makes sure all of his plants are super healthy and great growers, then if he does get a great flower, he already knows the plant itself is good. Of course, I had to buy from him, especially Eminent Domain, which is over 50" tall! He gave me Vitamin C as a bonus (value about the same as my purchase, when most growers offer 20% of purchase as bonus!) I can see why it's called Vitamin C! These daylilies were planted last spring, and they look as if they've been in the ground for years! They are already huge! What a great guy, and what super plants he has!

Just purchased a couple of cultivars from Slightly Different Nursery. Of course I'll have to wait until spring to report on the daylilies themselves (I have no doubt they'll be great plants) but I can tell you that Paul is SUPER, SUPER, SUPER! A real joy to deal with.

I threw a last minute, late season order at Paul, the owner of Slightly Different nursery and he went out of his way to make sure I got my plants exactly when I needed them-no muss, no fuss, just a package of great looking daylilies arriving at my door only a couple of days later. The plants were fresh and green and looked like they had been dug and cleaned about an hour before I got them. Each plant was at least a hefty four fans. They were still growing in the box, the way healthy daylilies will do. From our conversation, Paul was able to anticipate my taste and included a well chosen and much appreciated bonus. Based on my experience, I'd recommend you put Slightly Different nursery on your "A" list of places to get daylilies.

Paul of "Slightly Different Nursery" is wonderful to work with and very helpful with questions. The plants are spectacular. They are so healthy looking and large. I also bought a "name a lily" in memory of my Grandparents. The extra plants from this lily were sold to family members and money was put in the "family reunion" treasury. Check out his "name a lily" offer. It was a great experience working with Paul and "Slightly Different Nursery". I will absolutely buy from him in the future.

Paul Owens’ Slightly Different Nursery totally amazed us in 2009 with super fresh, huge, healthy daylily plants and extremely generous gift daylilies. In 2010 Paul Owens’ Slightly Different Nursery swept us away and completely exceeded our expectations with even larger daylily plants and numerous higher end gift daylilies!! The daylily plants that Paul sent us were humongous; only two plants fit into a five gallon pail for soaking and that was stuffing them in!! We had expected large double fans but many plants came in at large three and four fans and one was eight fans!
Paul’s generosity was incredible. With all those extra fans and I mean huge fans he still included numerous outstanding and extraordinary gift plants. And one month after planting his plants, many have sent up multiple scapes and have lots of buds!! Life on Perm (a Slightly Different Nursery intro sent to us as one of the gift plants) bloomed today and it was a real beauty!!
We have ordered from a heap of nurseries (thirty six to be exact) in the past two years for breeding stock for our northern New York gardens. Most sent us OK to very good daylilies in good condition but the overall quality, size, fan count and very generous gift plant policy of Paul Owens’ Slightly Different Nursery daylilies was definitely a huge, huge cut above the norm. Slightly Different Nursery is among those two or three special daylily nurseries at the very, very top of the heap for sure!!

I've had Paul's plants for 3 years - when I was checking all of my plants recently, I noticed that Paul's plants are the most vigorous and increasing very well. I have over 1500 varieties of daylilies, so I have a lot for comparison.
Without question, Paul's plants are superb and he is as friendly and helpful as anyone could want. As someone earlier noted, he does have a problem counting....but that is a GOOD thing.

I won several bids from Paul from the LA. He emailed me, and we corresponded a few times (he originally had his business about 40 minutes from where I live!) I won 2 different DL's from him...both were supposed to be TF/DF respectively...I think Paul forgot to count. The TF turned out to be about a 7 fan clump, and the DF turned out to be about a 4-5 fan clump. The bonus he sent, another hybridizers '06 introduction by the way, was 3 fans +.

This was my first time ordering from Paul and SDN, and I will definitely be ordering again in the future!

I came across Slightly Different Nursery on someones listing. When I went to the site I was surprized by the many types of daylily that they offered. Then I was even happier to find some lily on sale at 50% off. Later when I called with a question, I spoke to Paul and he could'nt have been nicer or more helpfull. It is refreshing to find a business that is both personal and caring about the customer.

All around A+! Excellent service, very friendly communication, some of the healthiest plants I received last year (and I received 15 or more orders). Divisions were very generous (no wimpy single fans). Thorough and friendly with exceptional care, Paul, and Slightly Different Nursery, provide an excellent quality product. Would highly recommend.

The owner of the Slightly Different Nursery, Paul, is willing to do whatever he can to make a buyer happy. He has always sent me the most wonderful large plants. Even though he says he's sending you a double fan don't believe it! Paul has consistently sent me more. You can always expect to get a super healthy clump from him. This gentleman pours his heart and soul into his plants and it shows. Every customer is special to him. I can guarantee you will be very happy with Paul and his plants. My wish is that he was within driving distance of of me. I would gladly lend him a hand if he needed it. I have the utmost respect for him.
