Just received my first order from this company and I wish I had known of them years ago. Very healthy, good sized plants with not a single frond damaged in shipping. Would not hesitate to recommend this nursery highly.

I may be the only one thus far with a negative for this nursery, but I am only saying what I feel. I grow ferns, and have many many of them. I ordered a few new ones for this new spring, and got some from Fancy Fronds, as well as a few other nurseries. When they arrived, they were of course in their dormant stage which I expected. Only problem is, they are still dormant. I dug a few of them up and examined them for any signs of life, but there were none. Every one I got from FF is dead. I will not be doing business with them again.

On May 9th, 2009, StellysPapa changed the rating from negative to positive and added the following:

I'm retracting what I said earlier. I sent an e-mail to Fancy Fronds explaining what had happened and even said I was not asking for a replacement. But, today, May 9th, I get in the mail a package from Miss Judith, she went ahead and sent a replacement without my asking. So, therefore, I change my negative to a positive.

Ordered several years ago as this company is within 100 miles from me. Received beautiful ferns. Am now going to order more as I was extremely pleased with the service as well as the quality of the plants. Thanks for a great experience.

Fancy Fronds Nursery has a great selection of ferns, as well as Spikemoss (Selaginella). I recently ordered 14 ferns and the plants arrived quickly and in excellent condition !

I recently received my second order of ferns from Fancy Fronds Nursery. They arrived promptly, all of the plants were fairly large (especially when compared to those from other mail order nurseries), and in great shape !

Highly recommended.

I recently received my third order of ferns from Fancy Fronds Nursery. Again, they arrived promptly and in great shape !

Site is very informative. Excellent search capability, comparable to an encyclopedia of ferns for easy/quick reference. Had a minor hiccup when placing the order and I inadvertantly duplicated it, but the owner quickly emailed me and a refund check for the difference arrived with the ferns. The ferns are beautiful, nicer than others I've seen mail order or otherwise. Very healthy and quite vigorous, far surpassed my expectations on size as well. If these don't make it, it will be my shortcoming, not the ferns. Owner also sent a free fern with the shipment. Very nice thought, not sure if it was because of my initial mixup or simply as a bonus for the order, but either way I would have been just as pleased without it. Again, top quality, very nice, I look forward to finding a place for it. I would highly recommend this site for both experts and novice growers. I believe that you will not find a more knowledgable or helpful vendor.

Judith is very personable and ready with advice. The ferns ship promptly and arrived in great condition. Not only does she have a broad variety of ferns but her level of service exceeds most other mail order operations.

I haver ordered ferns from Judith at Fancy Fronds several times since the late nineties (back when catalogs were still printed on paper...). My experience has always been the best possible. Judith is very knowledgeable about ferns and very helpful when you have a question or concern. The ferns are top quality, excellent size and very reasonably priced. This winter I contacted Judith to see if she would be able to find me some Dicksonia fibrosas (a tree fern that, from my experience, appears to do better than D. antarctica here in NE Georgia) and she went out of her way to get me some. I will continue to order from her as long as I have room for "one more fern".

I was tempted to try ordering from this company after viewing a positive comment on here and after much research about ferns and the "quest" for a few new varieties. I received my order in perfect condition and was most pleased. I even found a free gift with my order, a nice plus! I will be ordering from Judith again, she was great at communicating the status of my order and shipment too.
I am now spoiled by Garden Watchdog and find that if I check out a company first on here and find them to be a positive, then all will be well. I have received at least 10 orders this spring and I am very pleased with every plant. I don't know what I'd do without GW.

I purchased 14 ferns in the spring of 2003 from Fancy Fronds and must say, I am very pleased with the transaction in every regard. The web site is just great. Their selection of ferns is the largest that I've found on the web. Judith was very patient and responsive to all of my questions. My order was packed very carefully and arrived ontime and in great shape. And all of the ferns survived the year. I will definately return to Fancy Fronds to purchase my next order of ferns!!!

I was pleased and impressed after placing my first order this summer. Web site is informative, communication is clear and prompt, shipping is timely, packaging is careful, and plants are in excellent condition. It leaves me looking for other spots to plant more ferns next year, and I'll certainly order them from Judith at Fancy Fronds.

Have been buying ferns from Fancy Ferns for at least 6 years. Variety is fantastic. The quality of the goods can't be beat. I sent a photo of a fern to Judith at FF a couple of years ago. In a personal note she identified the fern -- but alas, didn't have any in stock.

My experience with this nursery was entirely positive. I ordered several ferns from Fancy Fronds after spending much time on their informative and helpful website. My ferns arrived promptly and were packed so well that not a frond was damaged, even though the delivery person left the box on end on my porch. The ferns themselves were much better than expected, being of good size, well rooted, and having the most beautiful green, unblemished fronds. They really surpassed anything available locally. I definately would order from Fancy Fronds again.

I searched the internet obsessively for ferns; Fancy Fronds had the best variety by far, and prices are average or better. Shipping is perhaps a little high, but not out of line.
The ferns arrived today and they are large, healthy, vigorous specimens. I'm very happy. If I could offer a suggestion for improvement, it would be to include cultivation info with the plants -- but, after all, that's available on their website.

This website is fern heaven! I took a chance last spring and indulged in an assortment of 8 ferns. The amount of intimate fern information is incredible. You know right away that these people love ferns and generously pass on their knowledge. After researching which ferns would perform best in my zone in Northern California, I submitted my order. My ferns arrived in perfect condition. I potted them in containers and summered them over in a cool greenhouse. The ferns were so amazing that I couldn't bear to plant them out in the landscape just then. They looked so good on the greenhouse bench all summer, I let them stay on display and admired them daily. I'll plant them out this spring in various locations but I'll no doubt replace the "greenhouse display" with another order from Fancy Fronds and start the process all over again.

This nursery appears to have the most extensive listing of temperate garden ferns in the country. Most are in the $4 to $8 price range. I have only ordered once, but shipment was prompt, the plants were healthy and good sized and packed well. I'll be ordering again.
