Comments regarding Sebright Gardens

A friend and I have ordered from Sebright for many years now and have NEVER been disappointed. The plants are usually very large with lots of roots. We order from a few different hosta places, and Sebright is perhaps the last order we receive in Spring, but it is by far one of the best. The plants are well worth waiting for. They are also very pleasant to talk to on the phone and are willing to answer any questions we might have.

I don’t order hosta mail order very much but I have ordered enough to say this was by far my best experience. The plants were HUGE! Very healthy with abundant roots. I placed the order on Monday and received my plants on Wednesday (OR to WI) which was unbelievable - I’m still waiting for plants I ordered a few weeks ago from a place much closer to me than OR. I will definitely be placing another order with them again next spring if not again this fall.

I've never ordered plants on line before, sorted through all the reviews for numerous sources for Hostas and Ferns and decided to try it with Sebright. There choices were almost limitless. They had some of the difficult to find varieties I wanted and all the reviews I could find were fabulous! They wrapped the roots in wet paper towels, then plastic wrap and a rubber band. The roots were huge and amazing and arrived completely moist, even after a delay in the shipping only due to Covid19. The leaves were large and fresh. You never would have known they had been in a box a few extra days. Follow the enclosed planting directions, especially the bit about soaking in water for a short period of time and you wont be disappointed. I potted them up within an hour of arrival ( my idea), and planted them about 2 weeks later. They took off as if they had never had been disturbed. These ended up far better than anything I have picked up at nurseries over the years. Some were large enough that I held my breath and gently divided them and every plant and division is a huge success. . It doesn't get any better. Can't wait to visit their display garden. Will definitely order here again!

The hostas I received were big and they sent doubles on the smaller varieties. Kirk was quickly responsive when I had a question about billing or shipping. I will order from them again.

I have purchased Sebright Gardens' epimediums and hostas from their nursery and garden sales but recently had the great experience of buying mail order. The size of their plants is extraordinary compared to most mail order nurseries. I was worried about their coming bare root (which does reduce shipping costs) but I should have had no fears. The plants arrived in beautiful shape, extremely moist, well wrapped, and cushioned in shredded newspaper. I recommend them highly.

I have been buying ferns from them (and iris from their sister company Mid-America Gardens) for several years. I have never been disappointed in their products, and they are very nice to deal with. I love their fern collection!

I have received two orders from Kirk Hansen at Sebright Gardens in the last month. The plants were excellent. The divisions were generous. They made the journey to SC in good shape. At first, I was concerned because they were bare rooted, but I potted them straight away and shaded them; they seem to never have suffered from the changes. Kirk is very personable, helpful, and seems interested in every customer's success with his plants.

What can I say, except OMG WOW about the ferns & hostas I recently received from Kirk & Thomas!!! Once again, their plants exceeded my expectations & I could not be happier!!! Super fast order processing & shipping! Plants are always carefully packed & their customer service is A+++. I will be placing another order with them today!

I placed an order of 20 ferns from Sebright Gardens, sebrightgardens.com; and I received the ferns right away. Sebright Gardens excels on all counts: Excellent customer service--excellent packaging & shipping--and superb ferns. The exquisitely beautiful ferns arrived in perfect condition. After the Sebright Gardens plantsmen got an indication of my tastes by reviewing my fern wish-list, these gentlemen were kind enough to suggest other "must have" ferns for my collection. The recommended ferns that I received are truly exotic and much appreciated since I would never have come across these rarer ferns on my own. I look forward to ordering from Sebright Gardens again--and I will definitely look into their specialty, Hostas.

Ordered two Hostas from Sebright and was a bit nervous, as I knew nothing about them.

Happily, the Hostas arrived in a timely manner and both were in excellent health, including roots and foliage. But what was really thrilling were the sizes! Most Hosta dealers send one or two divisions, but the ones that arrived from Sebright had at least 3 divisions each, with additional eyes growing. While their overall price and shipping costs are slightly higher than average, the sheer size of the divisions are so impressive they're WELL worth it.

I will definitely order from them again.

Last year I ordered a 'Gentle Giant' hosta from Sebright Gardens. It was reasonably priced and to my delight, the plant I received far exceeded my expectations. The roots were full and mature, and the leaves completely filled the shipping box. I gave the 'Giant' a special place in my shade garden and it is thriving now, a full year after planting. I greatly recommend anyone looking for hosta give Sebright a try.

Had a great time visiting the gardens last week while on vacation. It was nice seeing what mature plants will look like before your purchase them. Due to traveling I had to have them shipped and was very pleased with the service and quality of the plants I recieved.

I bought from them this past weekend 4/7/07 at the third annual Gardenpaloosa in Oregon and when I asked about visiting the farm sometime I was invited to just drop in that same afternoon and chat with Kirk and look around which I did. At the farm I bought several more of their great plants. I found both Thomas and Kirk to be extremely knowledgeable and hospitable and found out that they are testing their stock for HVX and so far they have tested well over 200 of their mother plants with no sign of the disease. Kudos to them for their attention to this awful hosta disease! I bought several of their wonderful well grown plants and found all of them to have huge root systems and great growth. Their prices are very reasonable and I give them a super hands up. Thanks Guys I WILL be back soon for many more!

This is an excellent company to buy hosta from. It is affiliated with Mid America Garden, which is a great place to buy iris!

I have never purchased from this company via mail order, but I have bought directly from the nursery. If you ever get a chance to visit, don't hesitate. It's wonderful to be able to see the plants in person..what a selection! All of the hostas are in excellent condition and reasonably priced. I bought 'Paul's Glory' and it was very healthy and grew nicely. Kurt was also very friendly and easy to deal with. I would assume that a mail order experience would be just as pleasant.

I highly recommend giving Sebright Gardens a try.

I placed a hosta order with Sebright this Fall, and they were wonderful to deal with. I ordered by phone and they were very pleasant and helpful with my order, and as well as a couple of hosta care questions. I needed them to be flexible with the delivery time and they met every expectation. The hostas were resonably priced, arrived well packed and had amazing root systems. I was even asked over the phone if I had any other hostas on my wish list because they like to add a bonus hosta to their orders.

I will definitely order from Sebright again, and encourage others to order from them as well.
