I ordered in mid-February and was assured on the telephone that the order would be immediately. Three weeks later I had not received, so I e-mailed a cancellation of the order. No response, but a week later I receivd my order. According to the packing list it was filled and shipped four days after my cancellation and nearly a month after the original order was placed. I used this company because of promised quick shipment, even though their prices are higher than many other sources. I learned my lesson.

On March 12th, 2011, FLcustomer changed the rating from negative to neutral and added the following:

Follow-up: The company called to say they never received my e-mail and they never ship early because it is too cold where they ship from and the bulbs would never survive the truck shipment. This contradicts what I was previously told, but I was impressed that the company made a sincere effort to make amends.

Late last fall I ordered a collection of rare narcissus from Ashton Simms. They had listed several varieties of narcissus that look like they would grow well in Tucson's climate. My order consisted of Chinese Sacred Lily, Segovia, Grand Soleil d'Or, Canaliculatus Tazetta, Geranium, Golden Dawn, and Minnow narcissus. This was an $80+ order. It is now February and my narcissus are beginning to bloom and I'm disappointed. Right now 19 of my new narcissus appear to be Ziva Paper White Narcissus, a far less expensive generic white variety that I can pick up cheap at Walmart. None of the varieties I ordered are completely white so there is no mistaking the variety. All the bulb bags where labeled so they matched my order. I don't know which bag(s) were filled with Ziva instead of what I ordered. I'll have to wait until the other varieties blossom. I think each bag contained about 10 bulbs so I think two bags where substituted for the cheap variety.

It is probably an innocent mistake, but none-the-less I don't know how to fix the mistake as it is too late to correct the order and too early to identify which bulbs I'm missing.

I think Aston-Simms is a scamming site. All the positive reviews on Dave's Garden are from one week in 2006 and all the accounts were created the day the positive review was posted. It looks like more of the narcissus I ordered form them are not what I ordered. I have a small daffodil open which I recognize as a cheap variety. It won't survive the summer because it is not adept to this climate. I can tell the surrounding plants are of the same variety. It really looks like Aston-Simms substituted cheap paper white narcissus and cheap north climate daffodils for the Mediterranean narcissus I ordered.

Just be ware of this site. They seem to have a good Narcissus selection, but I would not trust them.

I have responded to Peter's attached message via email. If it turns out that my order was a casualty of an innocent mistake or the result of incompetence of a third party and Aston-Simms will offer a reasonable solution, I will revise this rating.

I apologize if I jumped to a false conclusion based on circumstantial evidence.

Aston-Simms is shocked to hear of this case. Our bulb distributor BulbTrends.com in Wisconsine (recommended to us by the Mail Order Garden Association), has until this past season proved extremely good. However, over the winter we saw many problems from late orders to a total lack of response on orders placed.

We have not been alerted to this problem with Kaled's order until now and we urge you to contact us and will immediately issue a complete refund as is our policy in this case. Our phone number is 732-649-4009 or I can be reached personally at peter@capabilitysimms.com

We have already ceased trading with BulbTrends.com and moved our business to two companies that have an excellent international reputation. We are looking forward to a very positive spring with them.

With regards to the comments about our previous reviews, we were in the first stages of our launch and as such were encouraging customers to leave comments if they felt it was warranted. At no time have we ever sought to mislead or "scam" our valued customers.

As a follow up to this post we are now contacting all our customers from the fall bulb season to ensure no one else has any problem. As always our phone lines are open to our customers.

Peter Simms - Owner"
