I have a small pond that I use to attract birds, and have a problem with algae. I've been looking for a submersible pump bag and something to control algae, and ordered AlgaeFix and 2 pump bags from this company. I wasn't told how much shipping would be when I placed the order - so that was slightly unpleasant, but I figured, hey how much can shipping be on a $51.47 order?

The order came today. The AlgaeFix had not been secured in the package and leaked all over. It had been sent FedEx ground, and the FedEx people had somewhat damaged the box, so that the AlgaeFix had also gotten into the 2 pump bags. Shipping was $12.13, whoa! Okay. I called the company, per instructions on the label to report damage. I had to call at my expense, by the way. I mentioned that the pump bags were way too big and that about 1/4 of the 64 oz of AlgaeFix was no longer in the container, but was absorbed by the packaging, the catalog and netting of the pump bags.

Very nice lady at Aquatic Ecosystems offered to send me a new 64 oz bottle; I said just send me the 16 oz I'm missing, but those bags are still too big, and I can't use them. She said that they can't use them either, since they're damaged. I pointed out that someone could get a free dose of AlgaeFix with them!

So, I'm out the $19.56 for the bags I can't use or return, plus the $12.13 for shipping, and I still don't have a filter bag that I can use. I didn't get quite the good deal on the AlgaeFix that I thought I was getting, versus local prices when you add on the shipping.

It's my fault that I ordered pump filter bags that were too big, so that's not the company's fault. It's not the company's fault that the box was damaged in transit. It IS the company's fault that the lid on the AlgaeFix was not screwed on tightly -it was enclosed in a ziplock bag, but that bag leaked when I pulled it out. The company is making good on the missing AlgaeFix. So, I'm going to rate them a NEUTRAL.

I did order the correct-sized bags somewhere else, though.

Anybody want to contact me about 15"x24" pump filter bags? I can't use them!

On April 5th, 2007, PlainsWoman changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following:

On April 4th, I received the other 16 oz of AlgaeFix, as promised, in good condition.

On April 5th, I received in the mail a credit of $19.56 for the pump filter bags that I cannot use. This was totally out of the blue.

So, I am changing the "Neutral" to "Positive" because of the excellent customer service shown by the company.

Since we live in the area, we were able to call our order and then pick it up. They were very helpful and polite. Most of their stock is geared towards larger lakes and ponds, but they had exactly what we were looking for. Would buy from again.

I ordered snap fittings from these guys for building a greenhouse out of PVC pipe. They have the hard to find 4 way fittings for a very good price. I got my order in 3 days! I will definately order from them again. I found their web site easy to navigate, and the ordering/payment process to be extremely easy.
