Neutral | MudFingers (5 reviews) | On May 5, 2021, MudFingers Alexandria, VA wrote: Purchased 108 Liriope spicata plants in c. 2.5" containers: all but 3 were severely rootbound. The remaining 3 were only moderately rootbound. A humorist would say that I received much more than what I ordered; a gardener would say that significant additional time was required in order to plant. (Cutting the roots to open them seemed as if it would have destroyed almost all the roots since they wound around the planting medium numerous times.) |

On May 4th, 2010, tonybertino added the following: We'll have to agree to disagree on what variety of hosta I received. I'm not sure how you can so easily give a definite answer based on the picture I sent you versus every picture I've seen of that variety. The ones you sent me have a light green leaf with a yellow variegated edge. Every picture I've seen of Sundancer, including yours, shows a much darker leaf with a white variegated edge. If it is in fact Sundancer, then I question it's sun tolerance. Perhaps it will turn that nice darker shade of green with a whiter variegated edge when it's been in the shade for a while, where apparently it belongs. I say that only because since I transplanted them in a very shady area a few weeks ago (in much WORSE soil conditions I might add) they are 3 times the size they ever got before and show no signs of slowing down. Any number of factors could cause plants to perform poorly, did you test the soil? Perhaps it's as simple as adjusting the pH. We have not had any other complaints about performance of these plants. All we can do is deliver healthy, thriving plants - which you said we did. The performance of those plants is common knowledge, we did not make it up. If they did not perform as they should, it is because of environmental conditions, not because we mis-advertised them. I invite you to send photos and we will confirm that you were sent the correct plants. On May 4, 2010 4:22 PM, Classy Groundcovers added: Hi Tony, |

I am sorry to say that most of the plants vere root bound, some so badly, iI had to use a razor blade to cut the roots. Also, a lot of old growth, yellow and brown. From the ratings I expected a better product. I am happy to say, however, that the grasses are doing well, and should be o.k. So I remain neutral about more ordering from this company. They were from the end of a crop and by that point had foliage equivalent to a gallon. Most people would appreciate getting a plant with foliage and root structure that was substantially more mature than what they paid for. |
Neutral | Lucy_gardener (2 reviews) | On Jun 19, 2007, Lucy_gardener Rochester, MN wrote: Shipping was rapid but the plants were too small. I ordered pachysandra and astilbe. The pachysandra were barely rooted cuttings, some with only one small root attached. The astilbes were divisions, again, very small divisions. All were leggy. For the prices charged, I expected more. On June 20th, 2007, Lucy_gardener changed the rating from negative to neutral and added the following: However, the pachysandra will root almost anywhere and is doing fine. The astilbe top growth died off but the roots seem okay. On Jun 19, 2007, Classy Groundcovers responded with: " On Jun 18, 2007 9:35 PM, Classy Groundcovers added: Regarding the pachysandra that you paid $0.87 each for, why didn't you contact us with your complaint and give us a chance to correct the problem? We certainly would have either reshipped you better plants or refunded your money. |
Neutral | doriob (1 review) | On Jun 21, 2006, doriob Valley Village, CA wrote: I just wanted to let people in the west (AZ, CA, NV, OR or WA) know they shouldn't waste expend valuable time and effort selecting and filling their cart with plants like I did, only to discover at checkout that THEY DO NOT SHIP TO THESE STATES. On June 21st, 2006, doriob added the following: The statement made on the main page is poorly phrased and potentially misleading. It states that ""CG" ships free to the continental US (except for AZ, CA, NV, OR and WA). You may specify any shipping date when you checkout." This statement could easily be misconstrued as indicating that shipping is available to those listed states, albeit for a price. In other words, you could easily read that as saying "yeah, we'll ship to AZ, CA, NV, OR and WA, but it ain't free." Instead, it should explicitly state on the main page that, "Due to agricultural restrictions, WE DO NOT SHIP to AZ, CA, NV, OR and WA" then the consumer wouldn't have to click on a link to "read the fine print." On Jun 21, 2006, Classy Groundcovers responded with: " On Jun 21, 2006 1:47 AM, Classy Groundcovers added: Why do the restrictions imposed by the departments of agriculture for those states warrant a neutral rating for us? We state this on the main page of our site with a link to a page explaining why. On Jun 21, 2006 12:31 PM, Classy Groundcovers added: We updated the statement to be "we cannot ship to AZ, CA, NV, OR and WA", sorry if you perceived it as misleading. It's not reasonable to expect us to explain the reason on the main page of our website. On Jul 27, 2006 9:07 PM, Classy Groundcovers added: To make this situation more obvious to those visitors who do not enter through the main page, we now display this comment when an item is added to a cart... " Please note: we cannot ship to AK, AZ, CA, HI, NV, OR or WA."" |
