Comments regarding North Hills Nursery

This was an all around great experience. I ordered the plants (over 100) online on a Saturday night and got them all by Thursday. The adult sempervivums were much larger than ones I got from a competitor for the same price, and they had really good roots. The owner, Martha Cochran, answered emails quickly, and I am looking forward to visiting the nursery. This is the site to go to if you are a collector. These semps are so cool I felt like I was digging through a treasure chest. Lots of freebies had been added due to a special she was running - I stopped counting after a while; I definetly got my money's worth.

What a great place for succulents!! My order was packed and shipped within a day of my ordering. Plants were nice, labeled on the bags, with a label also in each bag. Nice bonus plants also! I will definitely go back here again.

I am so happy with my order to North Hills Nursery! I was able to take advantage of their sempervivum buy one, get one free sale. The plants they sent were in excellent condition and quite large, even the chicks. Martha’s emails made me feel like she really cared about the order and my satisfaction with the plants she selected. And she was generous with the free sempervivums.
I am quite fond of the Pacific line and among my purchases, I picked several of them. It was a pleasant surprise to find a couple of free bonus plants included, not just randomly chosen, but two different Pacific ones I hadn’t ordered!!! That was so thoughtful. Thank you, Martha! My wife and I visited North Hills Nursery last week and spent several hours viewing all the Sempervivums John has. It was a GREAT experience, just the crash course in Sempervivums from John was worth the drive! John and everybody there was great. He spent well over an hour giving me a very nice overview of sempervivums, and helping us choose plants.

Wow- what a great company. John had a 'buy 1 get 1 free' offer on his semps. When we received the order we opened the box and found a beautiful array of large and very healthy plants (hens and lots of chicks). My wife and I were very impressed with the size of the plants that John sent. We have ordered online from another nursery selling semps and they were very small and some didn't make it during shipping. It is nice to know that there are online nurseries (like North Hills Nursery) that are honest and dependable. We will definitely buy from John again. Thank you!

I really like succulents, and found North Hills Nursery on the web. They have such an impressive site, I decided to e-mail
John about visiting his garden. My wife and I drove 298 miles one way to get there, it was after normal working hours, but they graciously welcomed us to their garden. We were so engrossed with all of the beautiful plants, wealth of knowledge, and Southern Hospitality, three hours flew by.
John and Betty were the nicest people. They were nice sized plants, full of babies, very healthy, and great quality.
We would highly reccomend them to anyone wanting great plants.
We had a hard time deciding which ones to buy, we wanted them all. They have such a diverse selection of colors, shapes, and varieties. We did make our selections, and were excited about the bonus.

This is the second year I have ordered succulents from North Hills and I could not be happier with them. They are large hardy plant specimens and the folks at North hills take a great deal of care in packing them and providing information on them. I receive bonus plants from only two of the succulent companies that I deal with and North hills is one of them. There generosity is quite impressive as are their prices. I love North Hills!

I ordered the 18 count sempervivum collection and am quite pleased. The order came very quickly and was packed perfectly. The plants are very healthy. They offer a huge variety of hens and chicks and I will be ordering more from them very soon. These are great people and I highly recommend them!

I stumbled upon a link to their website while looking on methods of propagating Succulents. I made a small initial order based on the healthy looking plants they had in the online catalog. I was joyfully suprised to get the plants in about 3 days from order date. They were large, well marked, with lots of babies, and a beautiful bonus free plant thrown in the order. There were so many babies included with the mother plants that I was able to create a large dish planter just using the babies. I have since gone back and placed a larger order enticed by their current special of "buy one get one free" with any order over $50. I will be in Semp heaven. I can't wait. I have forwarded a link to their site to numerous friends, the website is easy to navigate and beautiful photos of their plants availablek with plenty of info about each plant.

First time ordering from this company, but it won't be the last. No complaints whatsoever.....Large sized 'hens' and many 'chicks' with each plant. Labeled and packaged well. Very Pleased!

WOW!!!!! WOW!!!!! I've just received my second order from North Hills Nursery. The plants are very well packaged and labeled, I ordered on Thursday and they were here on Monday. Awesome plants!!! Healthy and once planted they've just "come alive". They are fascinating and addicting! I now have 81 different varieties and am tickled pink! John, you have exceeded my wildest expectations! I guess I usually order off-season but have always been very happy with the semps you sent. This last order, though, was stunning. This is the best nursery I have ever had the priviledge to visit. I new somewhat I wanted before I arrived and John had the plants ready and waiting. I was so impressed with the quality of his plants, that my husband and I spent another 2 hours touring the nursery. Of course we found many plants that we just had to purchase. We left North Hills Nursery with hundreds of new hens and chicks to add to our garden. John was very helpful and made us feel very welcome. If you ever have the chance to visit I would highly recommend the stop. The internet just does not due the hospiality and plant quality justice. I will gladly revisit the nursery again in the very near future. The 2 hour drive is well worth the service that we received.

More bang for your buck here! John is Very generous with nice size plants very healthy and plenty of babies.I ordered on Friday got a email Monday that they had been sent got them on Wednesday! Now thats service. I got semps from other mail order places they but this is by far the best. He sent me some real nice bonus plants too with tags. I discovered this nursery while doing a search for Sempervivums.
Once on the site, it was like a kid in a candy store! So many colorful varieties are pictured on his website. I bought a collection and many specific ones that i wanted.
They arrived promptly, each packaged and labeled in its own paper bag.
There were bonus plants and many came with chicks.
I'm afraid i'm now addicted to these lovely succulents.
I'm sure i'll be back to buy more!

I have been extremely pleased with North Hills Nursery and I will be getting another order ready soon. My first order arrived healthy with strong roots and many offsets already. They were nicely packaged and labeled. It was like opening a present, impatient to see what the contents looked like and just loving it when you finally saw what was inside. Well since my last order from John When I ordered one of the collection I have proceaded to purchase about a $120 dollars more of the hens and chicks from him. Even though I loved my collection I have come to the conclusion that It's so worththe money to purchase the larger sized plants. I have completley covered a rock wall in my garden with these planst and have been so happy with my experience with John. The planst were HUGE with great root systems and every single one had new babies growing off of them. There were even bonus plants and I guess if John thought the plant was to small he put two large ones in the bag. So i really feel that this had been the best investment so far for my large garden and I cant wait to see them all start to grow in.! This is the best merchant so far that I have come across on Dave's garden web. Fast shipping. I always order on Friday when I get paid and they are here in Asheville never later than that following weds. Thank you again John for a great afternoon of planting. You might have competition from me soon since I have so many now!

This is a wonderful nursery, I discovered it through this web site as I have many nice mail order nurseries.. I ordered the 18 cell collection and they were here in 2 days. All still in their cells and individually labeled. Having been in the retail greenhouse and nursery business for several years, I am very particular when it comes to plant quality. I would rank North Hills Nursery at the top of the list! I will be ordering again!

Order plants late weds recvd them by saturday which was a nice surprise since I had already gone to all the greenhouses and bought other plants. Absolutely wonderful store! I placed my order on the 16th and received it only 4 days later! And the plants are just as awesome as the fast shipping! I loved the way they were packed, all in perfect condition when I received them, no broken chicks at all. I have ordered hen&chicks from a lot of different nurseries,but, by far the best plants came from John at North Hills Nursery. Not only did I receive beautiful mature plants,but, they had prime colors and babies on almost every plant. They are truely the same as the pictures that you go by when you are ordering.
