The worst ever. DO NOT BUY from them!

I was tempted by the their low prices and wonderful plant selections, so I took a gamble (I knew the reviews here before I placed my order), and I paid the price. They sent me almost dead sticks other than plants. None of them made it. Luckily it was a small order.

I just received my order of 5 fruit trees from Autum Ridge Nursery.
I am very happy with them. They were packaged very well and the roots were packed with a water retaining gel and wet newspaper and enclosed in a plastic bag. They still had plenty of moisture when they arrived.
Trees even budding and very much alive. Even the free gifts were budding.
The package they came in was Cardboard tube and had a Large Notice on it that Said Perishable Goods Please Rush. They took 2 weeks to Arrive from the date I ordered them , Which was very Reasonable Concidering the Low shipping They Charge. I live in Washington State so they had a long way to travel to get here.
Before Ordering from Autum Ridge Nursery I started to fill out an Order Form for 2 fruit trees from a Nursery in Washington State. The 2 tree's were $46 then $16.00 shipping{ Remember I live in Washington State} then State tax added. So my total was going to be over $70 for 2 trees. Granted they probably would have been larger trees.
So I decided to go for smaller trees and get all 5 types I wanted from Autum Ridge Nursery.
And all for around $50.00 and that include's the $7.50 shipping. {Had a long way to Travel}
After reading some of the Bad Reports here I was a little worried. But Concidering some of the Complaints such as...
1 - Just have Paper Label's that don't weather well.
{Hey People this company is trying to keep costs down,
Would you prefer they raise their prices and do Fancy and better label's,
OR
Do like I do and make the lablels yourself. Only takes a Couple of minute's and it isn't hard to do. And all you need to do is cut up old plactic lids to make them.}
2. - Complaints that trees are dryed up twigs when they receive them.
{I certainly didn't have this problem. Could it be they are Ordering in the hottest time of the year. Maybe they should concider this when Ordering. }
3 - Tree's shipped Bareroot and small.
{Remember People this is how most trees are shipped unless you want to pay Super High Shipping Costs. Also remember the roots are include in the size of the tree.
And all my tree's have very nice and sturdy and healthy looking roots.}
Anyway Just Wanted to get My Very Happy With Tree's Showing Here.
And Point Out to All the Complainers. If you want 6 ' ready to bear tree's Go pay the Higher Prices.
Thank You,

Reading about all the people this company has ripped off and they way they treat customers just makes me so mad. This company should not still be doing business.
For those that have been abused by this company, if you paid for your order with a credit card then you can file a chargeback with your credit card company and get your money back if this company refuses to give you a refund. If the credit card company finds the dispute in your favor then the credit card company will reverse the payment to Autumn Ridge Nursery and credit it back to you.
Your credit card company will almost always find in your favor and reverse the charge. Autumn Ridge Nursery can claim they never issue refunds all they want but the fact is, they simply can not keep your money without giving you the items that you paid for. The items also must be in a condition that could be reasonably expected based on the description of the condition of the item at the time of purchase (re; you can't send a customer a dead plant when the customer paid for a live plant. Unless the plant was specifically described to the customer as being dead and based on that description the customer decided to purchase it and paid for it, it is reasonable that the customer can expect to receive a plant that is alive)
Taking pictures (especially digital pictures) of the dead trees/plants when they arrive along with the package and all the packaging materials is always a good thing to do. Some online nurseries/companies will accept an emailed picture of a plant that arrived damaged or dead as proof for replacement/refund instead of sending the damaged/dead plant back.
Another thing you can do to help protect yourself in the future when buying plants (or anything else) online is to open a PayPal account. You can get a debit card for your PayPal account, just like any other regular bank account, and use it to make your online plant purchases. PayPal has a very good buyer protection program. For an extra layer of protection you can attach your regular credit card to your PayPal account and pay for purchases with your credit card through PayPal. That way if you open a dispute about a purchase with PayPal's buyer protection and you either do not get refunded totally or PayPal does not find in your favor in the dispute you can then file a chargeback with your credit card company.
I have a small business selling plants online (Greenhouse Foliage) so I know how these things work. If the plants you paid for arrived dead (or otherwise not viable), were the wrong plants or did not arrive at all, there is no reason that Autumn Ridge Nursery should keep your money (requiring customers to pay 50% plus shipping for replacements is absolutely unbelievable)
Just be sure that you do not let this or any other company string you along until the deadlines for filing disputes and chargebacks are past. Most credit card companies allow 60 days (some allow 90 days) to file a chargeback and PayPal allows 45 days to file a dispute. If an online company doesn't send your order before the deadline, then go ahead and file it as an item not received (PayPal will automatically refund buyers for items not received if the seller can not provide online proof of delivery, such as a tracking # showing delivery). If you are looking to order from a company that ships at specific times instead of shipping when the order is placed, then find out when those shipping times are and place your order as close to the shipping date as possible.
Do not forget to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against Autumn Ridge Nursery and/or any other company that conducts their business in a similar manner. You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Federal Trade Commission regulations state that a seller MUST ship out purchases to customers within 30 days of receiving payment from the customer. It seems that Autumn Ridge Nursery often does not ship out orders for months after charging the customer's credit card. This is against FTC rules and can and should be reported to the FTC. Unlike the Better Business Bureau, the FTC has the power to put Autumn Ridge Nursery out of business if they receive enough complaints about serious regulation violations.
Sorry to have taken up the space for such a long post. If this post helps anyone to get their money back from this unbelievably horrid company or helps prevent anyone else from getting ripped off, then it is worth it.
Please feel free to email me either through D-mail, through my company's page here on this forum (Greenhouse Foliage) or at my email address; Lokiwan@gmail.com

I ordered a Rio Samba rose bush last year for about $8.95 from Autumn Ridge. When it arrived I planted it immediately. When it bloomed months later instead of being a Rio Samba (red/orange/yellow color) it was pure white. It was a pretty bush but not what I ordered. I wrote Autumn Ridge and they said they would replace it but for me to dig up the other one and mail it back. That is ridiculous. I'm supposed to dig up a bush, wrap it up someway and spend probably $8.95 to send it back. I wrote and told them this and told them I didn't think I should do all this as it was not my mistake. I had placed several orders before and thought they should make it right. They did not answer. I just placed an order with Summerstone Nursery (didn't know it was Autumn Ridge who I swore to never buy from). Imagine my surprise to find this site. I would have never thought it was the same place.

We didn't think anything about researching this nursery site, as it appeared to be very reputable. We did receive our "free" plants very quickly. We did think it was strange that these arrived before the 21, two to four ft. trees, that we paid for. We promptly planted our 6 free plants, and did comment that by splitting a couple at the root site, we would actually end up with 8. After a couple of days, we did contact the nursery by phone, and were told that the purchased plants had been shipped, but were being trucked from TN to OK, and therefore would arrive in 11 to 15 days. We waited and waited, it has now been 11 days. We decided to call again, because of the prompt delivery of the free trees, and were told that all 27 trees were to have been in the "tube". Needless to say we were stunned. We were asked if we still had the box with a sticker stating who packed the box. We normally do not keep packing materials once we have received and approved the merchandise. We went outside and counted the shrubs that are the exact plant we chose for our free gift. We were indeed able to split a couple at the root and ended up with a couple of extra. Nice little extra gift, but in no way makes up for the $125 worth of 4 ft trees we paid for. I will say that we were able to get a hold of someone. She did agree to send us 21 more trees, however was very argumentative about the fact that all of the plants were not included in the box, or that any of their plants would be shipped in anything other than a "tube" wrapped in a small piece of newspaper. We are still awaiting the arrival of our 4ft "trees". At this point we would urge anyone who has a decent local nursery to get off their fanny, and go out on foot to look for your plants, and above all, research anything you purchase on the web, and believe the reviews you read. We have found this to be a very reliable souce on hotel rooms as well. So far the plants we did receive appear to be doing well, and are of a reasonable size for mailorder shrub. I guess we will be really surprised if our 6 to 8 ft shrubs, grow into 100ft trees!

I purchased two fairly large orders of fruit trees 2 years ago ( one in the fall and one in the spring) from this nursery before I was aware of this Web Site. The first batch was ok ( definately nothing great for the price) and they initially grew fairly well for the first several months ( later stopped growing as well), but the second batch was very poor, took over 4 weeks to reach me and were very small and dried out . ( I known I should have sent these back and disputed it with the credit card but procrastinated and was an optimist). Unfortunately everything the negative comments in this site have detailed are essentially true. I was not knowlegable at that time to known better but I certainly do now!!
1. No invoice, even when I called and asked for one,
2.very poor labling of trees ( although I was able to figure out which was which and put my own labels on the trees)
3. Very poor packing ( dried out - and trees mashed together)
4. VERY small trees -especially with the second order
5. The " free items " are not worth anything
6. . I ordered mostly " semidwarf trees" and now realize that none of these are grafted or budded trees. thus CANNOT BE SEMIDWARF TREES. These are all obviously seedling trees.
7. Also, now that they have leafed out one season , many of the trees are obviously a different species than they were labeled. I AM HESITANT TO BELIEVE THAN ANY OF THE ORDERED TREES ARE THE VARIETY THEY WERE LABELED.
8. Most of these trees have not grown well ( although most but not all, lived) and I am considering taking them out . ( trees from other nurseries have all grown well). The few which are doing ok I may keep and eventually use for grafting or budding a different variety.
9. When I called customer service I did not get satisfaction ( won't go into these detail since many previous persons have detailed these problems

BASICALLY YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR and it is better to get a few quality trees from a quality nursery than purchasing from this nursery.
I strongly recommend not purchasing from this nursery .

Others were double-stemmed sprouts, again, clearly simply seedlings destined to be full-grown trees and not likely to be true to type (especially the apples).

It was only then, alas, that I did my duly diligent Internet research and found the complaints here and on other sites.

I called to request info on how to return the shipment for credit and was told they'd replace the items but not issue a credit.

This guy totally went off on me and said we don't deserve a refund and he put a good male customer on hold to deal with my crap, etc., etc. I hung up in tears. I have never been treated that way before and I was just in shock. I finally called again at the end of August now and now mysteriously they never give out refunds and will send me another replacement in October or maybe next spring and they are "done" talking to me. (I am certain that I'll never receive anything from them next spring)They claim they have never refunded anyone and will not refund my money because it wouldn't be fair to the other customers. He also said I should have sent all the dead stuff back to them and that they can't trust that any of their customers know what they are doing, and that for all they know, everything was alive and I let it die. He just kept making accusations that it was somehow our fault and then said, "only God can make something grow-it's out of my control". They sent our order back in May the slowest way via the USPS, so it took 3 weeks...and after saying they'd send the replacement FedEx 2-day, they used the 3 week service from the USPS again. It's hopeless. No matter what you say, they treat you like crap and blame it on you. We paid $200 for one very young bush, and I have learned a big lesson. Autumn Ridge Nursery should not be in business, but they are, and we all have to research any company we buy from online. There are too many greedy & mean scammers out there these days.

I wish I'd have found these reviews before buying from this online nursery!

I bought four bare-root roses. Waited sometime then contacted them to find out what happened to my roses. They sent them PARCEL POST....well by the time they reached me in California they were all dried up and dead.

I contacted them and they never responded. I contacted them several times. Finally in the snail mail an offer to replace them arrived ...catch...I had to send them half the payment I had already paid for the dead roses. WHY would I do that?

I did manage to save ONE of the four. It was suppose to be a KORDES PERFECTA...one bloom finally and it's a common RED rose and not a very pretty one either.

They have NO customer support, don't bother. They don't live up to the promise they make and they don't return emails.
I learned well. I wouldn't buy a pencil from this company and HIGHLY suggest no one wastes one cent on this company!

This is a loose loose company!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. VERY UPSET WITH MY PURCHASE.

I am a rose enthusiast and was pleased to find this nursery that offered so many different kinds of roses and other plants. I ordered 8 rose's, 6 peonies, 3 hibiscus and some other plants. The total was well over $100. Well, all of my plants grew with no problems BUT all of the roses were the same Home Run shrub rose not any of the hybrid tea or floribunda's that I ordered. All of my so called "peonies" are growing except they just started blooming and are definately all hibiscus. Not ONE peony in the group of 9 lining my garden. I am very upset. I called numerous times, received no answer. I wrote several emails and was told I would not be given a refund but rather product replacement. I don't want anymore plants from them?!? Who are they kidding? Like I would really trust them to send me the correct plants at this point. I would LOVE to be part of a class action lawsuit against this company.. They are a huge fraud.

Disappointed Gardener,
I ordered on May 16,2007 order number 317359,total cost 231.81.
I am known for my green thumb. I used miracle grow product soil which has given me good results with daily watering for the first 7days and then every other day.I have invested so much time with my order with very little fruits of my labor.
50 spruce trees. They all died. I gave them every fighting chance to live. cost 62.50. These were small trees. I would have understood if maybe one-half had died.
2 white spruce trees. 6.50
10 dogwood sticks called when I received the order in charge Chris states, plant them and give them a chance. 15.00 lost still have the sticks no growth and planted who knows.
4 white delight creeping phlox they all died 14.00.
25 strawberry plants 3 have shown growth. The plants are still in the ground and maybe next spring will sprout out some growth.Who knows!!!!! 9.95 total -1.20= 8.75
For a total loss of 106.75
The positive results are my 4 apples trees they look great.
I am sure maybe my grape vine plants and blue berry plants will survive. I have some hope.
Wish me luck......
When I found this web site. I feel much better and worse at the same time because at least other people had the same luck. I emailed the site for autumn ridge customer service. all of the experiences need to be sent to the Better Business Bureau. This company need to send refunds to all their customers or gift certificates to another nursery.

I must agree with the negative experience others have experienced with this company. I too ordered (toooptimistically it appears). THe order was late and in an unacceptable container, poorly packaged. After nearly two months, the results are conclusive: 90% DOA. After reading others, I will not waste my time working towards a refund. This post hopefully will alert others before it is too late

I'm very upset with myself. I always research products and companies very thoroughly before buying anything... except with "Autumn Ridge Nursery". For some odd reason I found the site and just ordered without looking into them. If only I had found this site earlier. I've wasted $175 of good hard-earned money on a bunch of dead twigs. They said the order would arrive in 72 hours but it was almost a month. 34 trees came in one small box with gel around the roots. I soaked and planted the same day they arrived. It's been six weeks and only 3 trees have shown some life. They were planted correctly and watered every day. What to do now? Since it would appear the company won't refund I'm hoping the credit card company will. Otherwise all the money and time was for nothing. DO NOT BUY FROM AUTUMN RIDGE NURSERY !!! I'm so glad there's a God that doesn't let people like this get away with stealing from others.

I too wish that I could have read the comments about ARN. My plants came in a cardboard tube all crushed together. I immediately soaked the roses and called the company because they came 15 days after I ordered them. They replied in the following way; box the bushes back up and ship them to TN and we will replace them for half price. What makes anyone believe the second shipment would be any better? My advice buy from a reputable firm, Jackson & Perkins, Rosemania, etc. My first order was my last from ARN.

Order # 314807, 12 fruit trees $112.65. I received a 36" x 3.5" cardboard tube with all the twigs wrapped in plastic and moist gel on the roots. The white paper labels were damp and glued together. I saw no graft marks on these 1 yr old fruit trees. A scratch test revealed all but the three that had buds sprouting were shipped dead! I planted them all anyway. I could not tell the height to plant these straight tap rooted twigs , they had no fine roots or graft marks to judge. There was no answer from a call to Chris the supervisor from the label on the cardboard shipping tube. I e-mailed the company and received no reply to refund $80.65 for the 9 of 12 shipped dead trees.I called the office and the person said they could send a Replacement form to reship in the fall. Then I received an e-mail reply to my original refund demand and it said to wait to see how the [dead]plants do, then reship in late October? I want my $80.65 of $112.65 refunded! I have other trees delivered.

I ordered around 130$ worth of plants. I was told that i would be receiving plants not root stock. either way when i received the plants and unpacked them, all of the labels were made out of paper and they promptly fell off. I had ordered blueberries, blackberries, boysenberries, grapes and other variations. Now i had no clue what they were and the shape of them was poor. I have a nursery of my own and was pretty sure that they would fail. I was told to wait a little over a month and nothing has grown, inside is dry and all 5 free plants dies. I was told over the phone that i would be allowed to get them again for free but they shipped me out a piece of paper saying that that if i wanted them i had to pay for half.
Moral of the story is pay in credit card so that when you have a problem you can dispute and not have to pay immoral people for the items you didnt get in the condition guaranteed.

Also forgot to mention, I keep seeing posts about how people might not know what they are doing. simply inexperience. I happen to own a nursery and even ordered from 5 other nurseries at the same time, so that I might find a company to do future business with. I was hoping to buy large quantities and resell plants that were in bloom or either presentable. With the other companies their plants were not in poor condition (even rootstock) and 2 sent me small plants with leaves and dirt and I definitely did not have the same negitative experience. This was just a trial run and i was totally dissapointed.

Im not trying to discourage anyone and hopefully your experience will be better -use a credit card

I should have searched for feedback, before I placed my order. Disappointed in delivery and product. I am sending back the order of dead twigs and letting my credit card company handle the problem. Has anyone worked through their credit card company?

This was the second order I had placed with Autumn Ridge and it was for 10 rose bushes. I placed the order on May 2, 2007, and they arrived on or about May 11, in the tube that everyone seems to be getting. Ours was damp and still had ice crystals in the newspaper that was wrapped around the bushs, but they seemed awfully dead looking and dry at the roots. We rhought.it may have been from the shipping and we immediately put the rose bushes in buckets of water to soak overnight until we could plant. We had also ordered the fertilizer tablets, which were recommended, 2 per bush, in the bottom of the hole...All instructions followed ( I have lovely roses from different sources, so we are not novices),
I now only have 2 roses showing slight life out of the 10 and like so many other complaints, I called the nursery, talked to a gentleman named Landon, who said they would not refund my money to my credit card, but would send me a replacement form to fill out and return ASAP to ensure I would have my rose bushes shipped in Spring of 2008. I told him this was not satisifactory and he said that was all they could do. I asked why they could not give me credit and he said it was company policy. I never saw that on any thing when I placed my order. I agreed to filling out the form. Well today I received the form and low and behold, they want me to pay half price for the dead rose bushes, which I refuse to do. I am also going to submit the copy of my order, a letter of complaint, my notation of date, time of call, and person I talked with, to the credit card I used, KY Att'y. Gen's. Office, the KY BBB along with notifying the TN BBB and possibly the Atty Gen. Office of TN.
We should get rid of companies that do not stand by their products and then try to scam people.
By the way, the freebies..They died too.......
Hope everyone gets their money back and gets good nursery products. Wish I had seen this Web Site before I ordered.

Dear Folks...I wrote to the Atty. General's office of KY with CC sent to the Atty. Gen. Office of TN, the BBB of both KY and TN and received a reply from both the KY office of the Atty Gen. and the BBB telling me they had sent a copy of my complaint to Autumn Ridge, and if they do not hear from them within a month another letter will be sent. Also the KY BBB has filed a complaint on my behalf. My credit card has issued me a credit for the amount I paid for my dead rose bushes plus S&H until resolved.. Maybe if we all stand together and write to the TN, and the state offices that I did, where you live, and make complaints about the nursery, they will have to come up with refunds for your and my money. I do not want any more dead plants.
I had fairly good luck with the first order of trees, but again the free "gifts" died in a few days of planting. Good Luck to all and hope you will take my suggestions in trying to close this company down. I have a feeling there are hundreds that don't know about this web site to make a complaint. I am so glad I found it accidently.

Folks, Just wanted to let you know that after the letters that I sent to the Atty. General's offices of KY, where I live, and TN, the BBB offices of KY and TN, and after calling my credit card company, I got a REFUND from Autumn Ridge, with a copy of a letter from A.R. signed by a Melinda Womack, from the Atty. Gen.'s office of KY, stating "I deeply regret that this customer was very unhappy and I thought giving the refund would resolve this complaint sooner." What bull. She never tried to contact me to resolve anything. I guess it takes someone higher up to help resolve. Hope this helps you all to go forward to getting your money back. It takes a little effort and time, but it evidently works. I got nearly a hundred dollars back and that was worth the time and a few stamps. Just thought you might want to know. Good Luck. Junebug

Autumn Ridge Nursey was a huge disappointment. Most plants died and I never received some of my order. I asked for my order to be cancelled and for a refund on my CC. It never happened. I placed my original order in March and received most of my plants in June- too late for most of them. I truly feel like I was scammed. Haven't been able to reach anyone on the phone. Very disappointing.
