I placed an order with this company without reading any reviews. I did not receive an email confirmation, but I didn't think anything of it at the time, then one week later I still had not received the item so I emailed them to check on my order but I had no response so I emailed again to another address on the site and still no response, that is when I found the Dave's garden site and saw all the negative reviews. I went to paypal to issue a complaint/dispute and made several calls to the company itself, but was only able to leave messages in the general delivery box. Finally I received a message from paypal that my money had been refunded. One plus I have to say is that they did refund the money quickly, but I won't order from their company again.

I recently ordered 3 Crape Myrtles from the company even with all of the negative reviews. It was my first time using the company. I received a timely email response back regarding my order, advising me that 2 of the Crapes are out of stock & would be mailed to me this Spring. The other Crape in stock (Catawba) would be mailed to me in "approximately 2 weeks". I received my Crape in 3 weeks & 1 day and I am very pleased with it. It's a good 18 inches and very healthy looking. So far, I have no complaints.

I spoke with the Indiana Attorney General's Office. I was advised that due to the nation wide complaints and alleged fraud and theft, alleged victims need to file a complaint. The above address is where you can complete the complaint form. The form is a PDF file and very simple to complete. I will be filing a complaint and I urge all who feel that they have been defrauded to file a complaint. Due to the "across state lines" situation the AG office said that they will investigate every complaint to its fullest. Good luck to all and if you have any problems or I can do any more for you please feel free to call or e-mail. The AG consumer protection # 800-382-5516 ask for Susan.

A month ago, I ordered some platycodon seeds to be delivered to my mom over the phone and she still has not received them, even though they charged my credit card that day. I've called and left messages on the only number they list (765.584.2500) and no one has called me back. I've also emailed them several times and surprise - no response. I did a little search and found out that the manager is Charles Rich and his email is c_rich@richfarmgarden.com. I just emailed him hoping that he'll respond but doubt it based on their track record. I plan on contacting Winchester County Police, the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Protection Division of Indiana and so on. The seeds weren't that expensive but what's upsetting me more is the way they're handling their business.

In the spring of 2005 I decided to purchase seeds from this company to attempt some landscaping at our new home. I wish I had seen this profile about Rich Farm Garden. I was excited that it was a local company. (less than an hour drive away) Even though I live in Indiana, the same state in which this company is located, it took over 5 weeks to receive the seeds I ordered. After numerous phone calls and emails, I did finally receive seed. A few were what I had ordered and the rest were substitutes, even though I had expressly stated that I did not want substitutes. Would I order from them again? Absolutely not. I just ordered seed from two other companies and received them within a week and they were both located out west, not even in the same state of Indiana. If you plan to order from them, then at least expect some delay and make sure you give yourself enough time for growing before transplanting.

I placed an order for 12 seed packets on 05/14. I received an email from Rich Farm Garden letting me know that my items were being shipped out that week, but 4 of the seed packets were out of stock. The latter would be sent out the week of 05/21. I was charged for the items that I actually received, along with the full shipping & handling fees. Memorial Day came and went, and still no envelope with the remaining seeds waiting for me...I emailed RFG on 06/05, then again 06/07, and finally today 06/12. Tried calling, but got recorded messages only. I wish I had researched complaints against this vendor earlier. Like most, I was blinded by the wonderful selection of seeds that are supposedly "available". Upon viewing the complaints, I decided to stop wasting my time, called the credit card company, and requested a new account. Will proceed more cautiously next time…

which documents numerous account of their defrauding of customers. Have filed a BBB complaint with Indiana, Have spoken to the Chamber of Commerce and the Winchester County Police. I am filing to have the money returned through my credit card--checking to see if the card was compromised further by this company. I suspect it was. The police say they will call me back; the chamber of Commerce said they don't belong to the CoC, but they have talked to them.

The insanely frustrating thing is trying to be nice on the first few phone messages and e-mails. They have now unplugged their phones, and of course I never heard back. I'm furious. It's ridiculous that it's been allowed to go on so long.

I've filed a federal Internet Crime Complaint, here:

//www.ic3.gov/

I recommend you do the same. Wish I had looked them up first, and also wonder if they are connected with the other "Rich's" supply in Bloomington. Absurd.

I placed an online order with this company on January 25, 2007. I have to admit from the get-go that I had my concerns about them when they didn't send a confirmation email and therefore I also didn't receive a purchase number. I immediately sent an email to confirm their receipt of my order with the explanation that occasionally important communications are diverted to my Spam folder, and I questioned the lack of an order#. They did respond saying that an order# wasn't required. This seemed odd to me but I assumed the 'ya never know' perspective.

I sent them a money order for the $amount in question which fortunately was under $15. When the seeds hadn't arrived by early March I dropped them a low-key email inquiring about the status of the order [with no order# I forwarded the original online transaction intact]. They replied indicating they'd been waiting for some items to arrive so they could send all the items at once, and they expected these to ship--to me--on March 11th.

I purchase seeds from vendors all over the planet, and even though there have been delays of varying length I've never NOT received the seed in question.

Here we are in April and I've already sent 3 email inquiries about the status of the order that--border issues or not [I live in Vancouver, BC]--should have been at my door already. They haven't replied and having read the negative input of others who made the innocent mistake of purchasing from this company, I was shocked at its consistent 'non'-performance and implied crookedness.

I will likely contact the BBB and/or other in-state agencies that are geographically closer to the offending company. I wonder about this company's back story, and if they fell off the tracks due to some life-altering event. Again, ya never know...

I placed an order of 4 items on their website on 9/21/06 and received one item on 11/20/06. On the “packing list” sheet listed the rest as backorders.

Waited and waited still no package from them and this is now mid February 07, so I emailed them about my backorders. No emails back from them. Few more emails to them and still no answer.

So mid March, I gave them a call hoping to speak to a live person, but nope just a voice message asking me to leave them a message. I left them a message along with my phone number hoping for a call back. No call back!

Finally the week of March 19th got an email from their shipping department saying that my backorders were scheduled to be shipped that week.

Well, this is April and I still don’t have my backorders. It has been a very, very negative and stressful experience with them just for a few herb seed packets.

I am urging everyone not to buy from “Rich Farm Garden”!

On May 1st, 2007, gardenbumpkin added the following:

Okay, I finally got a refund check from RFG, but I am still on a mission to let everyone know not to buy from them because if I didn't filed with the BBB of IN. they would have ignored me and have taken my money and run.

This is what RFG wrote to Phyllis A. Magnuson (Consumer Mediator for Consumer Protection Division of IN.)

"She ordered seeds from us by sending a check in the mail without confirming ship dates. We shipped out the part of her order that was ready to go, but back-ordered -----worth of seeds that were not ready. We explained this to her on the packing slip that we sent with the first shipment, and also in a subsequent email:

LIAR, LIAR, pants on fire! I had tried to confirm shipping dates with them with so many emails and even a phone call and got no answers from them. Until the week of March 19, 2007, they emailed me "one lousy email" saying that my backorders were scheduled to be shipped to me that week (still have the email).

No backorders and I knew they weren't going to send me so thanks to all those who left websites for me to filed against them. Really appreciated very much!

So just remember if you don't get a confirmation order number or an email saying they have received your order then you know something is not right. Go after them.

I was browsing this website when I saw onion plants listed for $8.50 per bunch (bunches 1-6) with samplers being 20.00 a bunch consisting of 60-75 plants. With shipping being separate. Is this a misprint?
It's okay for a company to make a fair living by selling onion plants, but please let's not make a killing by gouging the customer. There are several companies out there particularly those who are suppliers that start selling plants two bunches, same quantity with shipping included for under $12.00.
I do not represent any company nor am I employed in the industry. I am just a home gardener who does a fair share of shopping for seeds and plants online. When I see onion plants like this at way inflated prices, there needs to be some light shed on this before someone gets taken. There are other sources out there who specialize in supplying onion plants at very fair prices. Buyer beware...

This "company" also goes by the name Agrich and should be avoided at ALL cost. Unfortunately they are easy to find in the internet - just do a search for "agrich seed" or "rich farm garden" - despite two different websites, it is easy to see these are the same people (or person!) - same location is provided for both companies - 985 W. State Road 32 Winchester, Indiana. You can look them up at //www.yellowpagecity.com - do a search for each and you will see them listed for the same address.

I paid for a seed order via paypal in September 2005 at just over $440 from their Agrich website. I waited for weeks and received nothing other than a couple emails with bogus excuses (e.g., crop delay). I eventually tried to get my money back via paypal - no such luck! I reported them to the BBB - spent weeks/months at this - in the end, this "company" even refused to respond to the BBB - my case is well documented with the BBB. Unfortunately, the BBB has no real "teeth" and could not do much other than to say the company did not co-operate. Bottom line - AVOID THESE PEOPLE (OR PERSON) AT ALL COSTS! This is definitely an online scam and hopefully enough people will eventually complain enough to remove them from selling online (ideally put them in jail where they belong!). There is so much more detail I could add here but I was so ticked off after all I went through last year, it is only now that I can stomach to even think about this again, let alone write about it! It is unfortunate that the Garden Watchdog does not have a 4th category for comments called "crooks" as this is where this company should be rated - a negative rating is simply not low enough!

I placed a fax order on May 6th for five trees; they claimed to have them in stock before I ordered.

Trees did not arrive by mid-June, at which time I tried to contact the company via e-mail. They were unresponsive. Called and left a message; no return call. Called again and got a woman on the phone who said she only worked the order desk and had no information about shipments. She gave me another e-mail address to send mail to. So I emailed that one instead. No response.

No response after two weeks of trying to contact this company about my order.

I'm going to try to get my money back through my credit card company, but I think too much time may have gone by.

If this is a legitimate company (which I doubt), they are blazingly incompetent.

They appear to advertise hard-to-find plants, and then drop off the face of the earth after charging your card. (That's certainly what they did to me.) I gave them many opportunities to explain what was going on, and they never even tried to.
