In the spring of 2009 I ordered 4 of the Royal Empress trees. I planted them as instructed and the first year they were barely 12" high. I wrote on 4/18/10 regarding my dissatisfaction but heard nothing. It is now another 4 months and they are about 36 to 40" tall. Where do they get 12 feet in one season?

Ditto to everything else that has been said. I purchased 8 "Royal Empress Trees" 3 years ago. They arrived looking pretty sickly. We planted them and hoped for the best. They did little or nothing the first year. I mowed them down. They came up the second year, but again did little or nothing. They, like others have said, resembled tall squash plants. I gave them the benifit of the doubt and let them go the third year. They have grown very tall ( 3' to 8') with very large (12" to 16") leaves, but are not trees. Again, they look like tall squash plants. I'm waiting on a response from them (and pigs fly)!! HOW DO YOU SPELL SCAM??? RUSH INDUSTRIES! STAY AWAY! Oh... I also purchased a very large bag of Quickgreen Grass Seed. Not 1 blade of grass came up. Again... STAY AWAY!!!

Ordered "Quickgreen" grass seed that stays green all year long. Sowed it in early May. Did great at first.....about 5-6 weeks later had 3 days of 85 degrees. It turned brown & died. I sent them pics & e-mail message. I was told 30 day guarantee only. Wel,l don't know about other parts of the US, but I don't think 30 days is appropriate & to me, this shows that they know it's a poor product.

My experience is similar to many of the above complaints. After several communications with Rush Industries via their customer support website, I have learned that they only furnish evasive non-answers to complaints. I was informed that they have a 30 day limit on cash back refunds. No mention of this is made in their FAQ website. The instructions that came with the 2 inch tall "trees" said to wait 3 weeks to see if the plants would revive themselves. Given the week or more it takes for the postal service to deliver small packages, this leaves no time at all for the possibility of a refund.

I ordered royal empress trees, and according to my growing zone the trees were to be shipped in the month of April. I received the trees(4) during the week of Memorial Day while on vacation. The trees had been sitting on my doorstep in the sun, and were barely alive. I followed the planting instructions, however the plants did not recover.
I called Rush Industries, and they informed me that the plants were not shipped during the regular time due to being out of stock. They then told me to dig the plants up and ship them back at my own cost.
They should have never shipped the plants, knowing that they would not survive the shipping during the month of May/June.
I will never make another purchase from them again

I ordered seed mats which took over 2 weeks to receive and once I received and planted them following their instructions 3 weeks I still have dirt and no plants sprouting at all. Nothing like the claims made on their website. Clearly they are selling defective products and I will move towards a refund and starting a credit card charge back proceeding. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY AS THEY SELL DEFECTIVE MERCHANDISE.

DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM RUSH INDUSTRIES

I ordered 2 jasmine plants from Rush Industries on 2/25/08. The website said the items would be shipped in mid to late April, although I paid for the plants on the order date. When I didn't receive shipment according to their shipping schedule, I went online to find a contact number and found this site. To my dismay there were many negative feedbacks re: Rush Industries. I called Rush with the intention of cancelling my order - but unfortunately my order had been shipped on 5/8/08. On 5/15/08 the plants arrived - dead, dried out -wrapped in paper. Rush made no effort to package the plants to retain moisture-even though their instructions for the plants said to keep the soil evenly moist. I tried soaking the plants in water but they remained dried out. This morning I called Rush Industries. They insisted that I must pay additional money to mail the plant back to them in order to receive a refund (minus their shipping charges).

Thankfully Capital One Visa was willing to reimburse me for the full cost of the plants without having to send back the dead plants to Rush Industries.

DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM RUSH INDUSTRIES.

I purchased 2 Italian Tree Tomato (9.98), 8 Royal Empress Trees (32.00) and 2 Ginkgo Biloba Trees (9.98). Shipping was 13.25 , total of 65.21. No tomato trees ever arrived (they said they sent seeds but I did not order seeds), the Ginkgo Biloba arrived after about 3 or 4 months , both totally dry and dead, 6 of the Royal Empress trees died within weeks of being planted and the other 2 died with the first frost. They were probably tropical plants not suited for the Virginia region where they were advertised. Neither emails, phone calls nor mail resulted in any compensation for the falsely advertised "Tomato Trees", the dead Ginkgo Biloba trees nor the Royal Empress trees that died. The company is a rip off, using deceptive ads and refusing to back up their shipments that arrive dead at the destination.

Rush Industries: I have no idea how they stay in business what with their lies in newspapers. I ordered two Royal Empress trees on February 28, they were shipped on April 12. I do not remember the date I received them, but, two brown twigs 1 1/2 inches long wrapped in dried out brown mulch arrived dead. Instructions: Plant and watch them grow, do not pay attention to condition received, just keep watered. Nothing happened, I returned them like instructions said. Never heard, called and was told money paid would be forthcoming, nothing came. I would suppose this company plays a waiting game to see if anyone responds. Today I called again and was told I only had 30 days from time of purchase to return the items. So basically I waited 1 1/2 month to receive the dead trees, followed instructions, did not know I had only thirty days to return and am out $13.93 cents. I wonder how many $13.93 cents they report. Maybe I can take this amount off my income tax. Perhaps everyone should and the company would have to come up with a lot of tax monies.

This is absolutely the WORST company I have ever done business with and should be the poster child for internet fraud. The only thing that seems to work at Rush is their order form. Once they have your money, as they say in New York, "Fu-ged-aboud-it". I complained about the dead trees they shipped 3 times and they never responded. I then returned, at my expense, the 10 dead trees, via Priority Mail and they never responded to that or subsequent follow-ups. Your choice in dealing with this company is that (a) you are dealing with thieves or (b) you will be dealing with incompetent nincompoops who feel that charging your credit card is their ONLY PRIORITY. BE WARNED!!!!!!!

I ordered two empress trees for my grandsons to give to their mother for Mothers' Day. They arrived with no leaves and stems mushy and broken off one inch above the pot. The directions said to plant them anyway, which I attempted. I consider it a waste of time and postage to return these, especially to have them replaced by others of such poor quality. Even if they were healthy, the seedlings were hardly bigger than a blade of grass!

I totally agree with the negative comments by other customers of Rush Industries. I have had the same exprience. I ordered four "Royal Impress Trees" and eight Italian Tomato Plants. The trees came as 3inch seedlings and the tomato plants as a few seeds. I was very surprised and think this is a scam business that should be stopped from operating for false advertising and false merchandising.

On Feb 7 06 ordered 8 Royal Empress trees. March 28 trees had not arrived, called answered by Lori who said they were shipped on 28 Mar. Called again on April 17, said they had been shipped. Trees or should I say sprouted seeds which most were brown and most of the few leaves had fallen off arrived on April 19. Called and told of the condition of the plants, instuctions were to plant them and wait. Did as instructed but anyone with any horticultural experience would know they were dead. On May 1st it was evident plants were dead. Mailed the plants back to the company via 1st class mail for refund. Called 10 July as no refund had been received, assured refund would be forthcoming. Letter dated July 10 received stating order was shipped on 28 March and and since order was returned over 30 days from the shipping date the 30 day guarantee had expired and no refund would be honored This was signed by Linda Harrison, customer relations. 23 days in transit, no wonder they were dead. They consider the 30 days from the date they ship rather than the date you receive. The parcel didnot have a date shipped. I would never, never do business with this company nor would I ever recommend it to anyone. I notice they are advertising in AARP magizine, I will also complain to them.

WHEN I COMPLAINED, THE RESPONSE WAS THAT I SHOULD SEND THE DEAD PLANTS BACK. I REQUESTED A CALL TAG OR ACCOUNT # TO CHARGE THEM FOR THE FREIGHT(LIKE MOST LEGITIMATE COMPANIES DO). I REFUSE TO PAY ANY MORE MONEY ON FREIGHT, SINCE I ALREADY PAID EXTRA FOR FREIGHT. I SENT A DIGITAL PICTURE OF THE DEAD PLANTS AND SENT A PICTURE VIA MAIL. TODAY IS JULY 31, 2006. I LOOKED AT MY COMPLAINT TICKET ON THEIR WEB SITE AND NOTICED ALL OF MY COMPLAINTS WERE RECEIVED ,BUT THEY CLOSED MY COMPLAINT TICKET. Well...its June 15 and still no order and no response from them. Its my first time being ripped off from internet ordering so I guess I have been lucky. I was going to place a larger order and so glad I did not. These terrible people used to sell on EBAY but nothing now thank goodness for ebay users. Today, May 20, 2006, I received my so-called trees by USPS in a container that was about 5inches by 7inches in size. The so-called trees were in that container but absolutely dead. Totally dried out and all the leaves were brown and dry. The trees were about 2 inches in heighth. What a rip-off. Do not deal with this company.
The trees are beautiful in the pictures and said to grow 12 feet in one year. It is hard to grow a dead plant!!!
