Their website said I would get one bonus/gift plant probably equal to 20% of my order so I expected one additional lily. Instead I got 2 and not the cheap ones. I was really impressed because they paid attention to the fact I ordered all reds and each a different variety. They sent two bonus lilies - both reds - and different varieties than I had ordered. Outstanding! I also received a hand written thank you note. The website says each is at least 2-3 fans. Mine are 4-5 fans. One is even 6 fans. At planting I was already able to separate and get more plants. I will order again most definitely! Take the plunge and order from Oakes. |

The plants are all nice size and all grew well even though I planted in the middle of our hot, humid Georgia summer, not an ideal time for planting but I didn't lose any of them. The order came quickly, was well packaged, the cultivars were nicely marked so I could plant them the same day they arrived after giving them a good soak in water. I'll return often to Oakes since I now know I can buy from them with confidence. |

I purchased 7 daylilies while I was at the festival and all had in excess of 4 fans each for a very reasonable price. I should have ordered more while I was there, but I am planning to place an internet order through their website. Definitely a great place to visit and purchase from! |

The plants were delivered promptly, and the first thing that caught my attention was the nice handwritten note by one of the packers. The plants themselves were generously sized, about 6 fans for each variety, and I did get the exact bonus plant I suggested! Such meticulous attention to a small order will guarantee my future business. Now, if only other companies could follow Oakes example!! |

This year, new home and garden, I ordered from another mail order company and from Oakes. To compare would be like comparing a 90 pound weakling to a body builder with a six-pack. The Oakes sent the most healthy looking large plants. I can't wait to see them thrive. The others, it will be years before I see anything if at all. I highly recommend Oakes. |

Wow. Healthy plump roots. Generous size. You can't go wrong ordering from these people. They include lush, vigorous free plants that are just as large as the rest of your purchased plants. It's an addictive, happy experience buying daylilies from Oaks Daylilies. At this rate, I'll soon have a stunning daylily garden and own everything in the catalog. Highly recommend for anything they carry. |

I had never directly contacted them. That is excellent customer service and the kind of beautiful plants I am used to buying from them. I do still feel negative about Paradise Garden and will not trust them with another of my orders. All of my orders will continue to be directly through Oakes Daylilies. I highly recommend them! |

I was very pleased with the size and health of my plants, and my order was shipped promptly and the plants packaged well. The only problem I had was in deciding which daylilies to order - their web site and catalog made my head spin with all the beautiful colors and varieties. |
Positive | Bourret (16 reviews) | On Aug 27, 2012, Bourret West Newfield, ME wrote: Ordered from Oakes and received my daylilies quickly. They sent tons of fans of each daylily I ordered. The fans were small but it's because their daylilies are starting to go dormant going into fall. Honestly, it's so much easier to plant small fans than large and they adapt to my climate much better. Thank you Ken! |

I took this collection to a second garden in Zone 8 . My primary gardening location is Zone 7. The reblooming collection did not do well in the Zone 8 location. I contacted the company with the names of the 6 daylillies I lost and was promptly sent the new plants. This group has faired better but not nearly as well as my Zone 7 plants. I was very pleased with the customer service and would not hesitate to order from them again. |

I decided to order because they promised HUGE multi fan clumps and they have such a LARGE variety of daylilies. Other places give one fan and there's no guarantee that you'll get a single flower in the first year. I ordered nine varieties and received all nine plus an extra HUGE clump OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE ONE THAT I HAD CHOSEN as a FREE GIFT! The order arrived PROMPTLY. I AM BLOWN AWAY TO SAY THE LEAST!!!!!! The least expensive one that I ordered was $5.95 and the most expensive one was $25. For the money you CANNOT BEAT THE OAKES DAYLILIES! I couldn't be more pleased and I can't wait to see the blooms next year. Who would have thought you could get this quality through mail order. THANK YOU SO MUCH OAKES! |
Positive | Mike_Crawford (1 review) | On Aug 31, 2011, Mike_Crawford Redmond, WA wrote: Posted on March 21, 2011, updated August 31, 2011 On March 21st, 2011, Mike_Crawford added the following: In fact, I did place a second identical order 6 weeks later, with similar results. Alas, even the first order was too late in the season for many blooms, but those did bloom were beautiful. I set aside my plan of putting them only in pots until I'd seen their colors, with the result being that about half spent the winter in the ground, and the other half in pots covered in mulch. Despite my uncovering their new growth just before an unexpected late winter stretch of VERY cold weather for our part of the Pacific Northwest, I DID NOT LOSE A SINGLE PLANT. They are all in the ground now, and are growing vigoriously. Bring on the blooms..... On August 31st, 2011, Mike_Crawford added the following: WOW, WOW, & WOW! The bloom results are nearly complete: -- 50 plants ordered (2 orders of 25 ea) last summer -- 84 plants planted (extra from bonus plants + splitting) -- 0 plants have died -- 76 have bloomed so far (1 bed has too much shade) -- 20 (YES, 20!) separate varieties have bloomed: 18 plants of 4 gold or orange varieties 19 plants of 4 yellow varieties 7 plants of 3 red varieties 16 plants of 3 lavender or purple varieties 7 plants of 4 pink varieties 9 plants of 2 white varieties -- 5 plants of 3 varieties are double -- 21 plants of 7 varieties have eyezones I've got to say that I'm VERY PLEASED. Frankly, I hoped for, but never really expected so many different varieties. And the number of blossoms, despite a record cool spring and late summer in the Pacific NW, was amazing. Oakes' online description for this was: "...the mix is heavy on the pinks, reds, purples, and eyezones, with mostly large flowers and lesser numbers of yellows, golds, and oranges" Given that 3 of the pink varieties are peachy pink, the mix is actually leans more towards the yellows, golds, and oranges, but that would be my ONLY complaint. And even that might not be fair -- the reds in this mix seem to be mostly late bloomers, so those that haven't bloomed yet could change the balance. The mix contained a nice blend of short/medium/tall flower scapes, and, as described, mostly large flowers. And there was one additional pleasant surprise -- I noticed early on that many of the "seedling" flowers sure looked identical to several popular and recognizable named varieties Oakes sells. An email to Oakes confirmed that their seedling mix does indeed sometimes contain "lost tag" plants. I won't mention which varieties I think I've identified, but if I'm right, several are quite pricey if purchased as named varieties! Fantastic. |

Umbrella parade,Flutterbye,Buttered Popcorn, and Miss Lucille never bloomed. I got great blooms from C. Johnson and Miss Amelia is still blooming. All plants came with 5 or more fans and I used compost in my beds so I am assuming that it was the consistently hot dry weather that resulted in such poor performance. I look forward to next year. |

The plants were healthy and huge (more than 3 fans) when they arrived. We tend to buy them at the end of season - overwinter in the garden - then move them to their permanent spots in the spring. Every one of the 150+ have grown and bloomed and are almost ready to be divided. They are spectacular! |

Great surprise. Give them a try if you already haven't. On July 13th, 2011, plantgnome1 added the following: I purchased over a dozen daylily plants from Oakes last fall and every one of them has bloomed beautifully, even the ones that don't get a full day of sun. I potted some and planted others in the ground. All except Hyperion, which did not produce any scapes, has bloomed. I just now moved Hyperion to an area receiving a little more sun. We'll see what happens. If it fails to bloom I will move it again to a container in direct sun next season. Just placed another order this past weekend. |
