If I could use one word to describe this company it would be "WOW!" I ordered onion slips and leek slips for the first time in my life and I can't believe how great they have grown. The directions to plant them are very easy to follow and I'm so delighted to have learned to grow my own onions and leeks. I will plant these every year now and I highly recommend using Dixondale as a source.

I received fast shipment of onion bulbs exactly as described. Just about the entire order grew wonderfully. It is the first time I can say that I had a successful onion-growing experience in over 40 years of home-gardening. The onions I have harvested--yellow, white and red--are all delicious. I am delighted with the overall Dixondale Farms experience.

I am a newbie to onion planting but am an expert in customer service having taught it as a consultant to various firms in NY City till I retired a few years ago. On Monday a eek ago placed an order to Dixondale Farms on the internet about 6PM at night EST. At about 10AM the next morning I received a call from this very friendly young woman at Dixondale Farms informing me that my order was received but it said to ship immediately. She said my planting date was not for two more weeks and was I sure I wanted it shipped now. In my biggest macho tone I said yes (like I really knew what I was talking about). She said OK and "thank you" for shopping at Dixondale Farms and call us with any problems. Don't know how this woman arranged it but my package arrived the next day. Your talking 2 days from Texas to Maryland. The bulbs and plants were twice the size as Bonnie's whom I though about buying from.
To end the story. I highly recommend these people both for the quality of their product and especially for their customer service. If buying from them remember to order 2 bunches. It cuts the price right in half.

I don't ever say much about vendors and don't get a kickback from Dixondale but I highly recommend them.

Have bought onion and leek plants from Dixondale for several years. Always a good experience. Plants are high quality and shipped on time. Prices are high on small quantities but plunge sharply if you buy larger amounts and are dirt cheap if you buy caselot quantities (30 bunches). Solution: order together with other gardeners or special order through your local garden center (which will get the wholesale discount on top of the quantity discount).

I bought my first mail order onions from Dixondale Farms about 10 years ago. They are cheaper than going to the farmers market to get onion sets and they have ALWAYS arrived in great shape. I have even had to leave them in the box for a couple of days because it was pouring outside. They all looked great and have always produced. I will never even consider any other source for my onion needs.

I have ordered from this company for years and have always received onions in beautiful condition. Since I come from a middle lattitude I am very greatful for their selection of day-neutral onions. Their onion starts are far healthier than anything I can puchase locally here in Northern New Mexico. If I choose their day neutral selection, I get onions throughout the season, early, mid-summer and late. From spring through first frost I can pick a fresh onion whenever I cook.

Great onions - I ordered a lot to get the best price. Unfortunately, my yard isn't that big, so I ran low on room for other things. As someone else said, they are pricey and I can get them much cheaper by waiting and getting them locally. If you are in a hurry to plant and don’t mind paying more for that privilege, they are an excellent company.

As a side thought, the post office put them in a plastic bag because of the strong smell through the building (it is a small p.o.). Thank goodness my mail carrier is a gardener and could appreciate them!

I've dealt with this company for several years. The plants arrive in good condition and they will ship on date specified if you don't want to go with the default shipping time. Last year I had outstanding onions when others around me were having trouble getting theirs to show much growth. I like the selections available for my zone/area.

I received my shipment of three bunches on Saturday. The long-day and intermediate-day samplers were complete and in excellant shape. The Cippolinis were shorted by 30 and somewhat wet, but otherwise in good condition. After planting they acclimated quickly. Customer service immediately and politely responded to the shortage issue. All in all a very positive experience.

Ordered my third set of onions from them this spring. As before, they arrived one day after the designated ship date (I blame the USPS because they shipped them 3 days before I got them). I believe that a lot of the other on-line garden sites that sell onion plants get them from these guys - check the package a see if it isn't sent from Carrizo Springs, Texas! I order 2 bunches of onions which is more than enough for my family (~160 onions). Like they say, you have to wait a couple of weeks before they take off because their growing their roots again.

Onions got pulverized this year - snow on April 30th? About 2/3 of my Mars onions died. I recommend that they ship at a later date (Late April) for us here in Northeast Ohio.

Beautiful onions. They say you will get at least 60 per bundle, well it's usually more like 80! They ARE pricey if you order a small amount, but if you can get together with a few local gardeners, they are dirt cheap! I ordered 20 bunches and they totalled around 2.00 a bunch including shipping.

Good selection
great service

stock arrived on time and in decent condition although the leeks had some that were slightly moldy and rotted

What I don't care for is they are very pricey. If I just wait another 4-6 weeks garden centers here will have the same varieties for this area for $1-1.50 a bundle compared to the $8.45 a bundle they charge (before shipping).

Last season was my first time with Dixondale Farms. The intermediate onions are the only ones that do well here. I grew some intermediate day varieties from seed that looked the size of leeks but the intermediate day plants from Dixsondale Farms were the only ones that did well, even with our extreme drought conditions and inability to water as much as they needed. I also contacted them via e-mail and they responded almost immediately with what I needed to know. I am definitely ordering from them for next season's garden.

I have bought from Dixondale Farms for four years while I lived in AR. They shipped fresh dug, clean, healthy onion plants that produced as they stated and they arrived when promised for my area.
