Item came later than expected up to 8 days after purchase. I realized the pump was too large for my pond use. I followed their return policy obtaining a RA number and shipping using recommended courier or UPS. I was accused via email that I used the pump in my pond...that was not true...I did test to make sure pump worked by plugging into AC plug. It worked fine just too big for my application. I've been accused of using the pump and they will not issue any refund. |

When I contacted Webbs (who is responsible for the warranty work for this brand of pump), I was instructed to mail the pump back using only UPS or FEDEX, though USPS would have been cheaper. Not only was I responsible for the shipping charges - Webbs did not issue me a pre-paid shipping label - but I also was instructed to enclose an additional $10 before they would accept the pump back to "look at it and see if it was defective." I think it unconscionable to have to pay a company to take back their defective merchandise. So now I am out $23 and I don't even know if Webbs intends to honor the warranty and replace the defective pump. |

I paid 119.75 in july and needed it quickly. It came and we hooked it up right before we left on a all day trip. Upon returning home we notice the pump wasn't working . We started looking to see if we could see any reason for it not working. It started to work again and we sat and watched it for awhile . The next day it wasn't working when I got up.I called them and told them and asked for a new one. They told me to send it and they would check it out ..they sent me an email with a label for ups , the shipping was paid for. |

I drove 40 miles one way this morning to return the pump. The unsmiling lady who took the pump to a tank for a trial also could not get it to work. |

It was apparently defective and worked for no more than one day, if that long. When I called to report the problem, they referred me to the manufacturer. At Tetra, I was told they were "out" of the product, so now I am waiting for them to "find" me another unit. I think Webb's should have let me return it and sent me a replacement. I had a similar experience with Webb's in the past trying to return a defective pump. It was a different brand. Once they found out I wanted to return it, they wanted nothing to do with me. I never even used it. I would not buy anything else from this company. |
Negative | cougar4 (1 review) | On Aug 31, 2006, cougar4 South Monroe, MI wrote: Webb's Water Garden does not honor their return policy. I purchased a Calpump PW2500 and because the company decreased the size of the impeller the pressure dropped dramatically. I have used these pumps for years and neither Calpump nor Webb's informed me of this. Their return policy says 100% satisfaction but you have to pay the freight back and a 15% restocking fee. I was willing to do this however, they refused. Their website says you have to get a return authorization or they will refuse any return. I have been ordering from Webb's for many years including these pumps. They don't stand behind their return policy. Kevin Webb is difficult to deal with. Don't buy from Webb's. On August 31st, 2006, cougar4 added the following: Yes, Webb's is correct they did accept the return of the larger Calpump PW3500 because they thought it was defective. It would not adequately push the water. They are incorrect in stating I didn't talk to them. I talked to Rob. He thought perhaps the larger pump was blowing out the relief valve because it was too big. That is why he recommened the smaller PW2500 Calpump. He said he has been in the business since 1987 and said I should order the smaller one. It wasn't until I received the second pump which pushed about the same amount of pressure that I called Calpump and they told me of the smaller impeller size. It wasn't until I called Rob back and informed him did he become aware. Therefore, Webb's is incorrect I did seek their technical advice. I was willing to pay the shipping and 15% restocking fee but Webb's will not call back. Their return policy does state if it is tested you can't return it but how do you know you are 100% satisfied if you dont' try it out. Do they mean 100% satisfied with the looks???? I can be pleased very easily. Take the pump back!!! Do not buy these Calpumps either!!!!! On August 31st, 2006, cougar4 added the following: In addition to purchasing the pump, I ordered Koi Pond food in a plastic bucket. They came in two bags. This is the second time Webb's incorrectly filled my order. Last year the same thing happened. When I called about it they told me to screw off! Now again I get two bags and not the resealable container to keep them fresh over the winter. Don't believe what Webb's tells you. They are not customer friendly. On August 31st, 2006, cougar4 added the following: Their refund policy should read 10% satisfaction guaranteed because they don't allow you to try the product!!!! Very deceptive advertising. Read the fine print with Webb's. I have contacted the Maryland State Attorney General and filed a complaint. On August 31st, 2006, cougar4 added the following: Since Webb's says they have so many loyal, satisified customers over 25 years, why don't they make me satisified by accepting a small return? If they do I will glady post it and go away happy and never purchase anything again from Webb's. I challenge them to stand by what they have said. I don't believe it. Just because you have been in business for 25 years doesn't mean you have satisfied customers. Just look at the mafia, IRS, and all the terrorist organizations. This company responded to this website but never had the courtesy to call me back when I asked for the item to be returned. Does this sound like a company you want to take a chance on? When I buy from Dell, Costco, Target, Kohls, HP, Newegg, CompUSA, Home Depot, etc. I never have this problem. Why in the world would a person take a chance when there is even a hint of a problem with Webb's? On Aug 31, 2006, Webb's Water Gardens responded with: " On Aug 31, 2006 4:42 PM, Webb's Water Gardens added: As long as you have used this venue to post your opinion I feel that it's necessary to get the facts straight. After receiving the original pump you called and reported a defect. We immediately issued a return label and had FedEx retrieve the pump. We tested the pump and found no defect but we replaced the pump in the interest of maintaining goodwill. You requested that we send you the Calpump PW2500 which is one size smaller than the pump you had originally purchased and used. We promptly sent the replacement pump to you and issued a refund for the difference in the cost of the two pumps, all shipping at our expense. You installed the second pump and realized that you had made a mistake in requesting a smaller pump. At this point we already have one pump that we are not able to resell and we cannot afford another. |
