Comments regarding Select Seeds Antique Flowers

Placed the order on a saturday, order arrived thursday, beautiful plants, packed well, I love this company!!

I have placed two orders this year, ordering a variety of herbs and flowers. I have been gardening for decades and have ordered from other companies, but I have never been so impressed by the care with which each plant was packed.as I was by the orders I received from Select Seeds. Not only were they carefully packed, but each plant was healthy and beautiful!
I also appreciate that one can specify when the plants will be shipped. And my request was fulfilled!
Many thanks to a great company. I will definitely order in the future.

This is the second year that I have ordered from Select Seeds. Last year I ordered an Appleblossom geranium, when I opened the package I was surprised (and a little disappointed) at how tiny the plant was. But it did not take long for it to almost quadruple in size! I have not been able to find another geranium in this color or with rose-like buds in my area. So when I inadvertently killed the plant (freezing rain around Thanksgiving - I didn't bring it inside in time) I was bummed. I knew I was going to order another one come spring.
This year I ordered the same geranium in the quantity of 3, and will make sure to bring it inside before the cold can kill it (it is considered an annual in Zone 5b - unless you bring indoors for the winter). I was very surprised at how the plants seemed bigger this year and the very last plant I pulled out of the box already had blooms! The other 2 have buds that have not opened yet. I am so excited to have these gorgeous flowers again! I wish I was able to post a picture of them...
I also ordered some Poppy Peony seeds and am looking forward to seeing those begin to sprout within the next few days.
Very happy with everything I have ordered from Select Seeds and they have gained a lifelong customer!!

This was my first year ordering live plants from Select Seeds. Out of the box, they looked small and fragile, but one month later, all are thriving. The red Petunia exserta really does attract hummingbirds. Spanish flag started blooming almost as soon as it went into the ground. Bleeding heart vine is vigorous and seems to grow several inches a day. I'm very pleased with these hard-to-find varieties.

i ordered three plants this year, and even though they had to travel a long distance they arrived in perfect condition. They looked as good as though I had just picked them up from the nursery. I would highly recommend trying them for plants you can't find at home. I have also had good luck with their seeds.

I am very happy to buy Heirloom seeds and non GMO's, also the website, the pictures, information, selection and prices were great. I ordered about a dozen packets of seeds and 4 plants, the prices and shipping was reasonable. The seeds arrived yesterday, each package has the cultivar information and sowing instructions right there. I do like that and I look forward to my plants. Thank you for bonus seeds, great shipment!

After receiving their beautiful full color catalog in the mail & discovering they had the Datura plants I had been looking for, decided to place an order for the first time with Select Seeds. Website is well put together with lots of information on each plant they sell & how to care for them. Nice selection of rare, hard-to-find, heirloom seeds/flowers. Prices are excellent. They will ship at any time. I had to put my order on hold though as it was too cold yet for mine to ship.

Received my ship confirmation this week with tracking information. Even though there was a snafu with the post office misdirecting my package to a town over from me, which resulted in a day's delay of the ETA, my plants arrived the next day in great condition. I want to stress that this screw up was the fault of the postal service, NOT anything on Select Seeds' behalf. Upon learning there was a problem with the post office's handling of my order, when I had called SS to inquire what was going on, I was treated with professionalism & courtesy.

The day I received my Datura, they were nice & green with no damage. Both plants were very carefully individually packaged with corrugated cardboard braces so they wouldn't tip over nor any of the contents able to spill out. The plants are mature enough to be planted directly in the ground or repotted after their hardening off period.

If you're looking for vintage flowers/seeds, definitely give this place a go.

This is the 2nd year I have ordered from Select Seeds. I have ordered both seeds and live plants, and they have all been wonderful. I received an order of plants from them today, and 3 of the Lantana and one of the Salvia were blooming in the box! Excellent variety, excellent packing, and excellent service.

Too bad we don't have a category for Super! because that's what Select Seeds has been for me. I just got my shipment yesterday, exactly when I asked to received them, and the plants were just at transplant size or bigger. The coleus were much bigger than I expected, comparable to coleus at any of my local garden centers. I just can't say enough about this great little company. This is the third time I've ordered from them, and I have never been disappointed.

I am very pleased with this company. This is the first year I have ordered from them. Seeds came quickly and labeled w/ instructions, very nice. I then ordered a brugmansia which I received today. Dark green leaves, very healthy plant. Great company!

A favorite company that offers unusual tender perennials as well as other plants. I've ordered from them several times over the years and have always been pleased with their plant offerings, packing and customer service. Just received this year's order and I'm just as happy, good job Select Seeds!

This was my first order and certainly not my last with Select Seeds. My plants were super healthy and well rooted. They were packed extremely well, not even a leaf was broken. No messy damp newspaper or plastic bags with hard to remove rubber bands. There was no mess at all . Also there is no minimum order which is great for people with little room, I live in a condo. Their website is easy to use and quick to load pages. A very nice experience.

Great selection of seeds and plants. Purchased many plants and some seeds last year. All the plants grew very well and were shipped without problems. I have ordered and received seeds for 2015. Last year I has excellent germination rates and I expect the same for this years seeds. Excellent service!

I have ordered from Select Seeds for at least five years. I received my seeds a few weeks ago, and just placed my first order for live plants. I have been looking for Oregano, Kent Beauty, and they are the only place I could find them. Past seed orders have never disappointed, and germination rates are 100%! Excellent selection, prices, and customer service! Nothing but positive things to say about them! Plus you just cant find a lot of their annuals in garden centers! I can't wait to get my live plants in May!

I've ordered seeds from this company for years now, and have always been pleased with them - germination always was good.
SS is the catalog I await with baited breath, eager to see what's new in their great assortment of heirloom flowers. I also like their commitment to the environment and protection of bees and other pollinators.
This year I decided to order plants. Despite the high price of shipping I chose 2 varieties of Heliotrope and 1 sweet violet. Sadly, the package was crushed and the plants were damaged, broken and stressed.
I was surprised and upset because I had expected better from this company. A regular priority mail flat box from the post office just isn't good enough to ship 3 potted plants! During shipment the sides of the box collapsed and crushed the contents - my pretty heliotropes and the violet.
A call to customer service solved the problem - replacements would be shipped and the service rep. asked me (nicely) to send in the label from the damaged box. Seems my order shouldn't have been shipped out in such a manner. I did as asked, but didn't follow up on what, if anything was done.

The replacements arrived quickly, properly packed and in very good condition. The plants were healthy and had a few bud and open flowers so I could verify that they were indeed scented. This is sadly not always the case nowadays.

Reading the other reviews it seems to me that my experience was the exeption. Still, I'm surprised that it happened precisely because SS has such a stellar reputation. I'm not sure if I will order plants again. The shipping charge is steep for my budget and I'm not eager to repeat another unhappy experience.

I ordered plants and seeds from Select Seeds this Spring, as I have for many years in the past.
The plants arrived in great shape and the seeds have great germination rates.
I have nothing but wonderful things to say about their plants and seeds and the only negative thing I can say is that I can't purchase every plant they offer!

I ordered plants from the sale. They all arrived in perfect condition!. As soon as I got them in bigger pots or in the ground, all of them took off and are growing beautifully. I would definitely recommend their plants to others.

I ordered plants for shipment in late April. When they didn't arrive on time, I called Select Seeds. They reshipped all my plants the following Monday. This time the US Postal Service didn't lose them. The plants arrived well packaged, healthy and full . I will order from Selects Seeds again, their customer service has been the best!

Once again Select Seeds has come through with the quality plants I've come to expect. My plants arrived well-packaged and in excellent condition. Can't wait to see them in bloom.

Not since I was a young lady, have I found plants that come out of their pots NOT ROOTBOUND, and yet with plenty of roots.
The shipment was PERFECT, and every plant looked fresh and happy. And it was 85 degrees today!
I asked for a specific arrival date, and they obliged with no trouble at all.
I will try to get all of my annuals from this wonderful company. They carry old varieties that you just can't get at retail stores or nurseries. I bought the old variety "Mrs. Wren" geranium, which is that old orange color, with white tips.
I also got some very dark blue morning glories and chrysanthemums. I advise that, if you like retro quality and service, go with this company in complete confidence.

I ordered both seeds and plants and was very pleased with both. The seeds germinated well. Almost ridiculously well - I had a small forest of seedlings in some pots, and wished I'd managed to take a smaller pinch of tiny seeds. They're now growing like mad.

The plants were healthy and quite a nice size for the price, which is very reasonable compared to other companies. All have done well after transplanting.

My only quibble is the individual shipping/handling charges for seeds and plants - it adds up to quite a bit when you order both. There were several seeds I really wanted, so I decided to go ahead and splurge this time, and save the remaining seeds for next year. But if I only wanted a couple of packets, the shipping charge would have kept me from adding them to my order.

Quality of plants excellent. Selection of plants unique and hard to find elsewhere. Solid packaging. Recommended.

My fellow Oregon garden pal and I put in an order for both seeds and plants. We both live in very old homes, hers from the early 1900's and ours was built in 1879, so we are always trying to find plants correct to the period. We always order both from many different suppliers, mostly big, well known ones. Most of the live plants ordered from the big names arrived dead or dying and are being replaced. The live plants from Select Seeds arrived fresh, healthy and HUGE! Once planted, they took off like rockets. As for the seeds, one of the best germination rates thus far for almost everything. Convolvulus thus far has been the only total failure and it just may have been my handling, so I'm trying another batch to see. Otherwise, it was 100% or nearly that for everything else.

I absolutely will be adding SS to the top of next years order list. This was our first time ordering from them and we are overwhelmingly impressed.

My seeds arrived with clear concise directions for when and how they should be planted. My plants arrived in great condition and I am excited to get them planted and see them grow.

After ordering in January, the long wait for the glaciers to recede up north was well worth it. The plants arrived safe and sound in very sturdy packaging. Not a single broken leaf - even on the coleus varieties.

I received my Digiplexis Illumination Flame today. I live in Auburn, California and the plants were as fresh looking as if I had gone to my neighborhood nursery to purchase them. The leaves were bright green and not tattered like some mail order plants are. When the box arrived, it was crushed on one end and I was afraid the plants would be damaged. The packaging was so secure that there was no damage at all to the plants. I will definitely purchase more plants from Select Seeds. Thank you for your excellent service.

I have ordered from this company for several years and have always been satisfied with their seeds and plants. I like that they carry the occasional unique item!

It's that time of the year when i'm loaded down with plant and seed catalogs. I always spend several hours looking at the beautiful pictures of all the wonderful plants and dream of having a garden large enough to plant all of them in it. Even though i look at all the catalogs, Select Seeds is the only one i order from.

Simply put, they have great seeds and are wonderful people to do business with.

These guys do an awesome job...plants arrive well-packed, at the appropriatetime, healthy, and of plantable size. Their seeds are great too.

Ordered both plants and seeds from this company. First time for me so I did not know what to expect. My experience with other plant mail order companies have not been positive so I was a little apprehensive. My fears have no substance, however, because the plants are doing very well, even with a novice like myself. The plumbago is already flowering! The seeds I bought also germinated very well. The only one I ran into a problem with (and I'm not sure if its my inexperience or just plain bad luck on my part) is that my packet of Calendula "Neon" did not germinate too well. But overall, I am glad I borrowed my co-worker's catalog and ordered from this company. Recommended!

I ordered some plants from Select Seeds as part of their summer clearance sale. The plants came well-shipped, arrived fast, and were still moist when they arrived.

I appreciate that Select Seeds has plants I can't find easily anywhere else. For example, I had been looking for a Mexican Flame Vine and found they had one during this sale! I raise butterflies and love that Select Seeds has lots of butterfly attracting plants to choose from. Also, they have plants that are able to grow in my crazy Florida environment. Most mail order companies don't cater to sub-tropic climates and it's nice that Select Seeds has a diversity of plants that grow in a variety of climates. I will definitely be ordering from them again!

Great company. Received all plants. 4 Calibrachoa and 3 Tobacco plants " Lime Green". They arived very fast. Beautifull,healty plants. I just planted today the Calibrachoa in container next to my patio and the Tobacco plants in a small gardenisland next to purple Cannas. I think them look great !!!

I was very pleased to receive my first plant order from Select Seeds recently. I had purchased 3 plants, all of which were packed securely, moist and intact upon arrival. The plants were exceptionally large and well formed, giving them the best chance in my garden.

After ordering plants for many years, my experiences have been varied, but this company obviously had put serious thought to the safe packing of large, healthy plants. The selections are interesting, picture colors reasonably accurate and items described in enough detail for planning decisions.

This is the first time that I have ordered plants from Select Seeds. The plants arrived today and are well-grown and were packaged well, so arrived in excellent condition. A great value for the price.
