So far so good. Ordered hard to find vines as they sell out very quickly and are not sold locally. Between order and delivery was 2 weeks. I really appreciated the care when packaging the 2 vines. The rest is up to me but they are healthy enough and rooted enough they should take off next spring. I am glad that I got them this soon so the roots could grow even more and prepare for the winter ahead.
I am excited to plan for a large creeper of some sort for one of them to climb on. They are already probably close to a foot and a half long. With tendrils ready to cling.

I ordered from Greenwood for the first time this spring and was a little worried because of lack of reviews for them. However, they were about the only place I found that carried wild Columbine plants and had them in stock. I placed my order and received shipping notification within about a week. I was amazed at how well the plants were packed--the method they used to contain the soil in the pots was nothing short of spectacular. The plants look healthy and well rooted, and the shipping packaging kept all of the leaves intact. I was very pleased with my purchase and the ordering process.

I noticed the bare root review below and wanted to chime in and say that I thought the bare root roses I got were dead as well, Planted in Mid April it took about 6 weeks to begin to see growth at the bottom. Some green way at the bottom with some red things pointing out. I too believed them dead, brown, brittle and black, no green stems, but I believe these things take like 4-8 weeks before you see some action. I also may not have watered them enough. I recently saw a suggestion of watering 3 to 4 times a week, I was watering 1 to 2 times when there was no rain. I know 3 of 5 bushes are actually visibly alive now and the others may have been my fault for I did not mulch around the area to lock in some moisture. I had a good experience. I was calling them dead sticks but I can't anymore as I see they are actually coming to life like a curtain being raised!

My order for 3 Fragrant Winter Honeysuckle plants was my first time ordering from Greenwood Nursery. The plants I received were perfectly acceptable, nice plants in the standard 4-inch pots. For some reason, one of them died; it was planted within a few feet of the other two, which are doing well. When I reported it to Greenwood Nursery, they sent me a replacement plant. Unlike the first ones, it was in a one gallon pot and a really beautiful bushy little plant. Since the temperatures where I live on the western slope of Colorado were still in the high 90's, they waited till October to send my new plant, which I very much appreciated. I am impressed with Green Nursery's plants and their customer service and highly recommend them.

This was my first time ordering from Greenwood Nursery, and while it didn't go the way I expected, I was pleased with how it was handled. I ordered several lilium bulbs hoping for October planting and left the message "please ship as soon as possible". After 3 business days someone from GN called me to let me know that their supplier was having issues and wouldn't be able to ship out until possibly January. They gave me the option of cancelling, which I did. The person I spoke to clearly explained the situation and was very apologetic, too. So while it was disappointing, I really appreciate that they contacted me and let me cancel rather than just sending an email notification of a late shipping date or something else that I could totally imagine happening elsewhere!

my son wanted some weeping willow trees to plant in a boggy area next to the pond on our farm. he looked at a lot of online shops and chose greenwood. he ordered some bareroot 5' and 2' willows. unfortunately, they ran out of the 5' willows before they could fill his order.
we did receive the six 2' trees. he was notified about the 5' trees in a timely manner and he was kept up to date on shipping and delivery of the other trees.
the trees were packaged well. the 2' trees are actually 3', not counting the roots. we know willows grow very quickly and these trees will be much taller by next year. this review is positive because we are pleased with what we received. we are pretty relaxed about life and we know things happen so we are not dinging greenwood for being out of the 5' trees. we would order from them again.

Fortunately the Greenwood website walked me through the planting step be step, who knew it was best to lay the plants on some sand for drainage? Not me, but the video was very concise and helpful, soon my wife will be smelling the lavender! Thanks Greenwood, and special thanks to Cheryl Jones for the wonderful follow up emails.

So, I've waited and waited (ordered in mid-January, it is now mid-May), and I don't have what I ordered. On the plus side, and the reason this is neutral over negative is because I can't find any evidence that I've been charged for what I ordered and haven't got - this will turn negative if that changes.

I also tried emailing before coming here - over a week ago (longer probably) I sent an email to brenda@greenwoodnursery.com asking about my "order" - I never got a reply.

I ordered from the website, and despite the fact that I didn't get an email regarding my order (unusual) nor did I get an order number, I was willing to wait and see. So far one of the few emails I've gotten from Greenwood was a confirmation that I had registered on the site, and I had to hurry if I wanted the 10% discount. I placed my order for Wintercreeper, Purple (12) POTTED plants, Creeping Red Thyme 4" pots 3 plants, Fern Burgundy Lace GALLON ( 1 ) the day after I registered. The other few emails (three, I think) were wanting me to join a mailing list of some sort.

I really wanted these plants, and was willing to pay more because Greenwood shipped live plants. But what is actually most upsetting to me here is that I chose Greenwood based on one fact and one fact only - they had a good reputation on this site. I've ordered (and had GOOD results) from companies that have a less than positive rep on this site, but the one company I try ordering from that has a good rep here is the one company I have crap results with. Weird.

I would just try placing my order again, but worry that if I did place a second order somehow my first order would be found or finally shipped. Well, that and they've effectively gyped me out of the ten percent new members discount at this point.

On May 23rd, 2008, ConGar added the following:

Okay, so totally ignore the above. The problem with getting my order here was not in any way Greenwoods fault, nor was it my own. Lets just say there was a problem that I couldn't have seen coming with the CC I tried to use. At the time I placed my order there was no problem with said card, but between the time of placing the original order and posting my review a problem came up. Yes, the problem was there when I posted my review, but at that time I didn't know about it.

So, anyway after posting the above, I got a call from the CC company, and went through all the jazz that goes along with that. About a week after that I started thinking about resubmitting my order with Greenwood since I suspected the CC problem was the reason I hadn't got my order from Greenwood in the first place. So I got their number (which is toll free, had I known that I would have called rather than sending an email in the first place) and wrote down what I wanted and called today. Why not just order from the website again? Well, I wanted to make sure I wouldn't actually be doubling my order.

I also mentioned that I tried emailing Greenwood. Well, after reordering today... I'm not saying they did or did not try to reply to my original email - I don't know. However, it is possible (likely even) that they did and their email got lost in the mountain of SPAM mail I get daily, because I was looking for something from Greenwood, not a specific person.
(I tend to check senders rather than subject lines.)

So, it may have been that they did try to respond but since I was looking for something from (or along the lines of) service(at)Greenwood that I deleted their reply email unopened.

Anyway, for now I'm leaving this neutral since I don't have my order yet, but I thought I would be fair to Greenwood and come back to give a brief explanation of what had happened since it wasn't Greenwoods fault. Hopefully, when the plants arrive they will be in good shape and I can change this to a complete positive.
On June 5th, 2008, ConGar changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following:

Well, I arrived home from work today to find a box blocking my gate... Actually, there was two, but only one is relevant here.

So, lets start with the best looking item - the fern is looking good. It's also in a big pot, so it should actually be okay until I can do something else with it.

You see, when I called and placed my order I was told second week of June, so I wasn't quite ready. That is not a gripe, just a fact. What's even funnier is that I got the package before I got the email saying it had shipped so I really wasn't expecting it to arrive today.
(That isn't Greenwoods fault, but mine because I only check email once a day.)

Anyway, I suppose I should say that nothing in the order looked bad, just small.

In one case (the thyme) very small. I'm thinking it might be a good idea for me to put them in a slightly larger container to allow them to get a little bigger before I put them in the garden, but they seem alive and healthy so maybe if I can just baby them a bit they'll do well.

The Purple Winter Creeper is what surprised me most. Those are in very small containers, I'm certain there's barely enough room for the root of one let alone two, and it seems that there are two in each container, which means I need to get them transplanted ASAP.

However, the plants themselves are quite large, at least half are very ready to go/grow. The other half also looks nice and healthy - I was just mostly surprised by the small containers. To give you an idea, the containers for the PWC are actually smaller than the containers for the thyme. Still since the plants themselves look healthy I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for the best.

I really hope the PWC does well, because this is the second year I've tried with it. First year was with dormant stock (from another company) and I never could get even one of those to break dormancy, so hopefully live plants will serve me better.

Finally, I should admit that I did a quick count of the PWC to see if all twelve plants were there, and I admit they seem to be, otherwise I would have held off on posting this until tomorrow when I'll get the pots to repot them. Since they are so close together I won't be sure of the count until I repot them.
On June 11th, 2015, ConGar added the following:

So, years later and I'm still positive about this company - despite having lost the fern I mentioned above. That was through no fault of the company - it did make it through two years (which I have no doubt outlasted any warranty) until a health issue led to me not protecting it through the winter - I tried, but it had done went through at least one frost - maybe two.

The purple winter creeper on the other hand survived my years of neglect and is still going strong today. Alas, it hasn't quite choked out the weeds like I was hoping, but a couple years ago I noticed that it had covered the hillside garden. Oh and this is despite having a major ice storm the year after planting which took out the old tree that provided some shade to the area.

But enough about years past. I wish I could give Greenwood another positive, but I'll have to settle for updating this one. Actually, I feel a little bad to be honest - a couple weeks ago I reported a dead plant and what I was sure was a dying plant. Oh and a plant that still hasn't done anything since planting - more on that in a moment. Anyway, the first plant is most certainly dead, but the second one might actually be recovering - at the time of reporting it had as many brown/dead leaves as bright green - now it seems to have more green than brown so I feel a little bad that I didn't wait to report. I mean, yes, it could still die, but it seems to be making a recovery.
(And I have it isolated now so in case whatever is the problem hopefully won't affect the others.)

There was no hassle on the above either - I mean Greenwood didn't make me jump through hoops before offering to replace. I simply sent off the email with the details and today I received the replacements, which looked GREAT!

However, the other plant (a hibiscus) still hasn't done anything at all. And I mentioned this in the original email, but at that time I wasn't asking for it to be replaced just wondering if I should feed it or maybe water it more, though recently we've had plenty of rain, or at least I think so. Still it's been another week or two and it still hasn't done anything - the problem on this one is that they mentioned wanting a picture of the plant plus where it's planted - not unreasonable (I'll add) just not really possible for me to provide. You see, the only camera I have is on my cell phone, but alas my cell phone is not connected to the internet so while I can take a pic with that (and could sent the pic as a text message) I can't take a pic and actually email it.

On the other hand, I'm not too bitter about this, which is why I'm not lowering the rating. In another week I'll ask if Greenwood can provide me with a number that I can send a text photo. If they can do such a thing great if they can't well I'm sure I can live with it, especially since they may have already replaced a plant that it may have not been necessary for them to replace after all. What I mean is that I won't feel I've lost anything.
On June 16th, 2016, ConGar added the following:

Just a quick update for anyone who cares the hibiscus while slow to green up last year really took off a couple weeks after my previous post and this year its already got a bloom starting while the older more established hibiscus (ordered years ago from another company) is only about half-way up. So slow start but once ready Greenwood's really dazzles.

I was in the market for some plants. I picked Greenwood Nursery from the internet because they had an interesting website and their prices were reasonable. I didn't have much luck with the first plants that I purchased from them. Either the rabbits ate them or they wouldn't respond to all the good care that I gave them. The helpful people at the nursery replaced some of the plants that didn't survive. Of course, they weren't responsible for the plants that met their demise re: the rabbits. Ultimately, I purchased several Nishiki willow plants and a beautiful artic fire (dwarf red twig dogwood). Both plants are beautiful and thriving; the willows are 8 feet tall already and strikingly beautiful; the dogwood has red branches (hence: twigs) in the winter. In addition, the willows did absorb the standing water on my property. Greenwood nursery was very helpful with my purchase and selection of plants. The customer service was excellent. Everyone that I spoke to was very pleasant and friendly. I never purchased live plants online before, but Greenwood nursery made this a very gratifying experience. Thank you Greenwood!

In early Spring, I ordered 2 Aphrodite Hydrangea bare-root shrubs from Greenwood Nursery. I had been looking for these on-line and was pleased to find them available at a very fair price. They shipped promptly, were well packed, and looked very healthy. I consider myself experienced and wanted them to leaf out before putting them in their permanent location. So, I put them in pots with good potting soil and a good dose of granular fertilizer. Wrong! After 4 weeks, they just sat there. No new leafs. I called Greenwood and spoke to a very courteous, nice, and helpful woman who told me bare-root shrubs should be planted in their intended locations in plain dirt, no fertilizer is to be added for one year. She told me the fertilizer burns out struggling hair roots. She kindly offered to check inventory and send me replacement shrubs. I planted these according to her information and they have leafed out beautifully and thrived. Well, an old gardner learned a new trick. This is a quality nursery in every way. I have given a somewhat longer explanation, because I fear other gardners may also be planting bare-root shrubs wrong. I will be using this nursery again and highly recommend them.

Cheryl from Greenwood Nursery responded almost immediately to my email and let me know that she was working with Brenda in scheduling to be sure that my plants shipped in time for Mother’s Day. Not only did she respond right away, she also sent me a follow up email letting me know that there was no reason to worry, Brenda was on it! And to top it off, Cheryl followed up after the plants shipped to let me know if there were any questions or concerns about anything, or any help with planting, that my mother-in-law could contact her directly and she would be more than happy to help her out. They did and make a beautiful winter hedge when they are all red (a beautiful contrast against a backdrop of Iowa snowy winters). The honeysuckle are growing and in fact I received one extra plant when placing my order (not sure why). The lilac bushes a doing quite well, though I wish they'd grow as fast as the pussy willow. They are fragrant and healthy. I had two dogwoods that didn't make it, and Greenwood Nursery quickly replaced them the following year (NO QUESTIONS ASKED). I plan on purchasing ground cover plants this year (sedum) and possibly some fruiting trees. I have referred my neighbors and friends to purchase, which is a big deal to me. After a period of time, I was ready to pull it out, but my husband said to leave it alone. Seven years it bloomed, and thirty nine years later I have a huge, magnificent tree. My experience with Greenwood Nursery from start to end was nothing but excellent.

When I had a question, it was replied to with expertise and timeliness.

When I had problems setting up an account online, the matter was resolved quickly, and I was able to shop that same day.

When my plants arrived, I was so very pleased with the way they were packaged. The damp newspaper and plastic wrap preserved them so well that even though I had to wait a few days before planting due to weather, they were just fine; the leaves never wilted or browned. When I ordered 50 bare-root Vinca, I was nervous about separating them all, but when I saw that each one was hand-tied individually, it made the planting process so much easier. That kind of attention to detail is appreciated.

This year, we had unusual amounts of rain, and I was afraid that I may have lost my newly-planted shrubs, but as the water has dried up, the leaves have begun to bud. Needless to say, I am thrilled with the quality of these plants.

I appreciate Greenwood Nursery's commitment to quality products and customer service, all the while having outstanding prices. It was a pleasure working with them, and I intend to buy exclusively from them in the future.

I would like to say Greenwood Nursery is top notch. I ordered two Persian Lilacs one which died. I wrote an email to the nursery and right away same day service had me a replacement on the way. That is customer service and fantastic PR work MAX! I am very impressed with this nurery compared to another I dealt with in the past which tried to lay the blame off on me for plants succumbing. The only way I got any action was to file a complaint with the BBB then I was over whelmed with apologizes and offers of a replacement. Unless Greenwood Nursery changes their theme as far as CS & PR I will buy here again.

Wow! Ordered a Drift Rose through Greenwood Nursery and was thrilled to receive a much larger plant than expected. Very healthy; lots of foliage, and already with a few blooms! Quick shipping, too--very pleased with this company.

I ordered 3 Triple Crown Blackberry plants last year from Greenwood, gave one away and planted the other two in a 6x12 spot in the garden, after working in a goodly amount of composted horse stall cleanings. The plants took right off and gave us a handful of berries a few months later. After that, they spread like there was no tomorrow. I had to cut them back a couple of times when they grew outside the edge. This year, we started harvesting on June 7, picking enough berries to fill a quart bag. Two days later, another quart bag. One day later two quart bags, and yesterday well over 2 quarts. The berries are delicious and incredibly large, some up to an inch wide and 1 3/4 inches long. Triple Crown lives up to its billing!

If one wants to experience the BEST in customer service, then I can wholeheartedly recommend Cheryl at Greenwood Nursery. I am located in the Appalachian mountains in North Georgia and get all my products from Greenwood Nursery over the internet. Last fall I purchased many a bare rooted plant that i planted for rooting over the winter months. This winter was one of the coldest in record for Georgia and 4 of my 5 Fragrant Honeysuckle plants failed to root and were still dormant this spring. There were clear signs that the sub freezing temperatures did them in. Well, a simple and single email message to Greenwood Nursery resulted in Cheryl sending four rooted and actively growing Honeysuckle plants at no charge!!!!!!
Greenwood provides me the best in service and with a friendly professional approach to all my gardening needs....from snake repellent to ground cover to flowering bushes.
Thank you Cheryl and all your staff at Greenwood.

I ordered 10 potted Vinca minor plants and 3 Lady Lavender plants to be sent to friends. They arrived last Friday, and my friends were very pleased and told me how impressed they'd been by the careful and expert packing.

I went to visit them last weekend to help with the planting, and the plants were all thriving and beautiful! We planted the vinca about 18 inches apart with no trouble in the area they'd chosen and planted the lavender in containers on the patio so their fragrance could be thoroughly enjoyed once they blossom and bloom.

I certainly will order from Greenwood again!
