I have bid and ordered from Plant Ranch in April, still no plants received. I contacted many other ebay bidders and they too are getting no plants and no return emails or nasty ones. One email I received was sent by a lady that STILL has not received her plants after a month so she left negative feedback. It was from Plant ranch stating if she removed the Negative she placed on his feedback Then he would send her a refund. BLACKMAIL???
I have been on the computer emailing this man and still no emails as of late. I see on the feedbacks and by emails there are horrible plants being received. Some people are leaving positive feedback with negative responses. READ the feedbacks all of them. Last email from him he told me it would be a couple of more weeks until I get my plants...that will make it 2 months??? he says they only have 5 people working there, then it's only 6 people, then some say 4. He needs to get more help or stop selling....
Anyone that leaves Negative feedback for a good reason gets negative back from him. why??? He wouldn't want to wait as long as we all have. I am guessing I will get bad plants also...DO NOT DEAL WITH PLANT RANCH
PS I have the emails to back myself up

Here are more emails from Plant Ranch after I received several emails from him, I told him he needed to be out packing peoples orders not on the computer....... I guess i hit a sore spot. This is how professional he is, this is HIS comment about his customers:
"...YES TODAY IS DEALING WITH ASSS HOLE DAY. AND PEOPLE THAT DRESS UP SONS IN WOMENS CLOTHES LIKE YOU..."
The latter comment is because
I had my son put on a CAPE I was selling so I could take the photo... I also made a joke in the ad " don't mind the hairy legs"
I received negative feedback from him after I left this message here. So i wrote him and asked why good people are getting bad feedback. He is leaving negative feedback for those of us that have asked for money back or the plants we PAID for.....
He also sent this THREAT to me:

you have some real issues. thats ok tho
its going to be hot at the end for you..
you keep thinking what you want. its too bad you can see the nice things in life.
DONT EMAIL ME AGAIN PLEASE
this is a formal request, further emails will not be tolerated due to such content

What does HOT AT THE END mean????
He is in way too deep and is mad at us who ask for what is ours....Thanks for reading I am good person and don't want others to be at a loss for money.

I won the bid on April 30,2005. I asked him ahead of time if it would be a problem that I would be out of country when the bid ended and would pay when I returned. He wrote back ok. I had my husband contact him when I won the bid and remind him I was paying when I got back. It was ok with him. the day I returned I sent Pay pal for the amount. I also told him I wanted 2 trees not one and sent the full amount...all this he agreed to. I paid on May 17,2005. It is June 1, and no plants or package yet.

++++I would also like to add I am shocked by the foul words that have been posted here & that daves garden allows such. "

I have dealt with Darin, and his crew for well over a year now, and I can say NOTHING but wonderful comments about his Plantranch business. As a "newbie" ebayer, I make some bidding, paying and just about every mistake that one could make with out ANY repercussions at all. I was forgiven, and even given extra plants. I have spoken to Darin on the phone and had him talk me through things, and NEVER was he curt, angry, or left me to believe that I was as dumb as I was...I am still learning, but with gentle patience, Darin has even talked me through other ebay problems. I always send a A+++ as soon as I pay for my plants b/c I have NO doubt that I am gonna get my money's worth and then some..... I have gotten extra plants, something "new" to try, all in the name of a wonderful business person. I have also dealt with Tracey,an employee there, and I know that she shares Darin's love of people and plants. I have read some of the neg feedback on the ebay website, and again here, at this site, and have to believe that the people who say these terrible things have no self-esteem of their own, and therefore can NEVER be satisfied. I feel very sorry for them, and hope that someday, they will feel good enough about themselves, that they can give their fellow man/woman a break, and not expect total perfection. Which of course is totally impossible anyway. I will continue to be a faithful and happy customer of Plant Ranch, and know that things will settle down soon, and Please think before you write....words can never be taken away, and really do hurt more that "stick & stones".
And, as for Darin, and his employees, all I can say is "keep up the good work" and this too shall pass. May your plants get rain and sun in the proper amounts when you need them, M.E.

The cactus was an unrooted cactus blade. The elephant ears were nothing but little plugs. All that for a little less than $30.00 including postage. I contacted them and received word that I could return everything. Apart from the lack of quality, there is the isue of deceptive advertising. The outfit reminds me of some companies that are no longer here, but resurface under another name. Buyer beware!!!

Thanks for your email & thank you for being patient. We ask that you allow about 2-3 weeks from date of payment. This is our busy time of year and we are a bit behind as well. as we are a small 5 person operation here. You should have this very soon & thank you again for being patient and understanding.
THANK YOU !

**With high priced items this is sound logic for sellers to
refuse sales to low feedback bidders, but we're talking
about $22.00 here! Besides, I'm not dealing with "Many
sellers"; I'm dealing with YOU. For ME, your CUSTOMER,
you've not provided anything near quality service customers
should be able to expect from someone with your
reputation. Apparently, in your mind it's okay to accept
someone's money then fail to deliver and hope no one
notices. When someone does speak up, you ATTACK
instead of own up to the problem.**

===========================

In summary, I did everything the Plantranch's auctions
instructed; I waited until the last auction closed, I purchased
5 plants and paid the $6.50 s/h charge AT THE TIME OF
THE FINAL SALE, APRIL 14th, waited the 2 weeks for
delivery as stated in the auction, then waited another week
as requested in your email. All I wanted to know in an email
is when could I expect delivery of plants I paid in full for. I was
cordial and willing to be patient.
Plantranch is way out of line by posting this negative (lying)
feedback on me; they could have, but failed to, take(n) two
minutes to write a response to my email to say "oops, we're
running behind on processing orders. Your order is delayed
but will be shipped on Tuesday/Wed.." or whatever day.
Instead they ATTACK me for thier shoddy business
practices. I will go now go out of my way to let others know to
avoid them! SHAME ON YOU, PLANTRANCH! SHAME ON
YOU FOR TAKING MY MONEY, TAKING YOUR TIME TO
DELIVER THE PLANTS AND IGNORING MY EMAILS,
AND THEN ATTACKIING ME FOR HOLDING YOU

They would not reply to my e-mail messages, and in order to contact them I finally had to make a long distance phone call. I will not purchase plants from this business again. I planted them, but the pines aren't doing very well, and I'm already planning what I will put there instead. It's too early to tell about the two trees--a friend told me it looked as if my young child has just stuck a stick in the ground. I had ordered a lot of plants and trees from Darin. Even though the shipping was extremely slow, I was very pleased with the first bunch of trees he sent to me, and felt comfortable ordering more.

Everything ran well with Plant Ranch, until my last order. Among other things, I received some trees that were just sticks (about two feet tall) with a few very wilted and dried leaves on them. One was just a stick with the top broken off. In spite of my dismay, I thought I would give it a fair try, plant them, and give them some tlc, to see if they would revive. Well...they never did.

I didn't think there would be a problem, because I had already purchased so many things from his business. I hoped I had reached "good customer" status. It had been about 4 weeks since I planted the trees, and they were definitely dead. All of the leaves had fallen off and the wood was turning dark brown and beginning to wither.

When I contacted Darin and told him that he had sent me some sick trees, he told me to scratch the bark to see if there was any green, they might come back. If the trees were dead, he would send replacements to me, IF I would send him more money for shipping.

I didn't think I should have to pay for shipping again, because the trees he sent to me were sick, weak and inferior quality. That was his bottom line though, and for being such a good customer, I was NOT happy. I left appropriate negative feedback that stated the facts, nothing more.

The email I received from him, after the feedback, made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. He told me that my decision to leave him negative feedback was an "unwise choice". He informed me that he had a lot of feedbacks on me that he hadn't filled out yet (check the ratio of his negative to positive feedbacks he gives to others on eBay), and said that if I left any more negatives for him, he would leave negatives on ALL of my feedbacks. I tried, VERY hard, to reason with him, and he finally agreed to send me my trees.

A few weeks later, I sent more emails to him, asking where my trees were. I had purchased them in late spring, and now it was 3 months later...I wasn't happy.

Any emails I received from him at this point were juvenile and antagonistic. He acted as though he had no idea who I was. He made patronizing comments on how "grouchy" I was. Then he said if I wanted my trees, that I had to send the old dead ones back to him (three months later) and added $2.00 more onto the shipping cost that I had to pay again, to get my trees from him. Then he had to decide whether or not he was going to send the replacements, and I should resend him my address in case he decided he would. He had the upper hand, he knew it, and he seemed to enjoy making it unbearable.

I sent copies of our previous emails back to him, as a reminder of our agreement. I received a curt message that my trees would go out in the mail. I finally received them a month later...sickly sticks with no leaves. I just threw them away.

I have been with eBay for over two years, and I have almost 200 positive feedbacks with no negatives. The stress and uneasiness I felt in trying to work with this man, easily qualifies it as the worst experience I've had on eBay.

I have bought several items from Darin at Plantranch and have had nothing but the best. He is quick to respond to any emails and answers questions in an easy way to comprehend. He has been more than helpful and even offered to replace plants that didn't leaf out. I went back again when I needed more plants and will continue to buy from him and would highly recommend Plantranch to anyone who wants quality stock and a great guy to stand behind it. Most of this years garden has been from Plantranch.

I have ordered (through Ebay) from Plant Ranch twice recently. The prices are good and if things go wrong he works hard to fix the problems. I recieved prompt replies to my e-mails, I treated him with respect and he treated me with respect. I'm satisfied.

On March 23rd, 2005, Crimson changed the rating from positive to neutral and added the following:

None of the 4 Paulowana trees I bought from him survived past a month, I tried everything potting them in Miracle Grow soil protecting them from any wind or cold... but in the end none survived, one never even got leaves.... and YES, THEY WERE DEAD, not dormant. When the "stem/roots" biodegrade into the soil it's obvious they are not in anyway alive. I have no doubt I will recieve a unpleasant e-mail for this entry, but thought the truth should be known.
On March 24th, 2005, Crimson changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following:

Ok, I've gotta give them a A for effort, they genuinely seem to be trying to please. I would not be adverse to ordering from them once again, perhaps Empress Trees are difficult to keep alive when they are young.
On April 22nd, 2005, Crimson changed the rating from positive to neutral and added the following:

Sigh... I give up. This is the last time I'm trying Paulownia trees. I bought two, through Ebay. They were the smallest ever, ice cube size. One died immediately, by the next day after recieving, the other is not growing or putting out any new leaves.... even after 2 weeks, full sun, Miracle Grow potting soil, daily watering. I give up! This is the 6th tree from the same grower, guess I'm a slow learner, all up to this have died within a month or less. No, I don't want free replacements and yes, I know I'm not being fair... that I'm going to recieve a e-mail from the owner of Plant Ranch right after this is posted, please don't. I don't want to try any more! I'm giving you the "benefit of a doubt"/ a neutral instead of a negative because you still seem to want to "try again", but I don't.

I have been a repeat customer of Plantranch for the past two years. I have always used Ebay to order and I've never been disappointed. I always get quality plants and fast shipping. The descriptions on Ebay are always accurate and I know exactly what I'm getting when I bid. I bought two weeping cherry trees last year and they are thriving. I just received an order yesterday of 5 forsythia plants, 1 dogwood, and 1 tulip tree. I put the plants in water overnight, as the instructions indicated, and the plants were full of life and ready to plant today. One other note, when I used Ebay to look for nursery stock, I always choose to search by seller (Plantranch). I don't even bother with the other sellers because I'm so pleased with the service I receive from Plantranch. They are good people.

I just received my first (no doubt of MANY more to come) plant order from Plant Ranch and was very impressed, particularly with the prices charged and the varied selection offered.

The plants were all VERY well wrapped/packaged and arrived in GREAT shape!

I was particularly impressed by the Bamboo...VERY nice!

The Thimbleberrys really made a POSITIVE impression on a friend that was helping me unwrap and go through the plants. He had purchased this same plant at a site that only dealt in unusual plants, paid three times as much and did not get nearly as nice plants as the onee I received.

I'm into gardening so I know what a good 'bareroot' plant is and what isn't...what to expect (some people, I gather, don't know what 'bare-root' means and really think they are getting the exact same plant they see in the 'representative' photo). Considering the price, the bare-root plants were what I expected, actually, I take that back, they were BETTER!

I only had an issue with one plant (more of a personal 'preferrence' than an issue) and contacted Darin on the phone number listed.

Despite this being no doubt the MOST HECTIC time of year for someone in his business, what with dealing with plants and being beseiged by orders and customers, he was EXCEPTIONALLY PLEASANT, patient, understanding and accomodating!

I have already recommended his site and his ebay auctions to several of my friends, and I know for a fact I will be purchasing quite a few more plants from him. In fact, immediately after getting and unwrapping my plants, I went on line and put in an order for some more.

Overall...I would rate this as an A+ FANTASTIC plant buying experience!

Great Plants! Great Service!
Thanks, DARIN!

I was very impressed with Darrin's personal communication with me and his patience with my many questions. I also ordered mini roses, hydrangea, citronella, grape vines, blueberry bushes, and elderberry bushes. I was not sure of what to expect as I'd never ordered from a nursury before so took many pics anyone interested can view them on my garden journal. Will definately do business with Darrin again. For a 'First Time' buyer on a SMALL order I sure got the Royal treatment. Thank you Plant Ranch and Darin for your speedy service and great plants. All in all I have to say the owner tries very hard to make everybody happy. In any business you soon learn that not everyone is going to be happy with you or your product. Some sellers do not take the time to answer problems. Plant Ranch did and offered exchanges or upgrades. They took the time and tried. Hard. Good Company and good people. Richard

I agree with all the comments that the plants are small for the money. And shipping is as much as a better, larger plant elsewhere.

Seller has difficulty dealing with critical comments. His choice is to attack rather than initiate a resolution.

There are vendors who forget the age old adage "the customer is always right". Just satisfy the customer and move on. No need for recriminations and accusations.

I've purchased twice. In both cases, plants are exceedingly tiny. In most recent case, some were just sticks, one was dead. I advised seller. He did not respond to. I followed up with factual feedback on Ebay. Then a response: he posted negative feedback on Ebay. Why not just fix the problem??

I found Plantranch on Ebay with their great variety of plants and very reasonable prices. I was able to purchase plants from 3 of Darins auctions and combine all 3 auctions to save on shipping costs. The plants arrived on time and in great shape. While going through the shipment I found it was 1 plant short. I e-mailed Darin and got back a quick and friendly response. The plant arrived in two days. I planted the plants two weeks ago and they are all doing great. Plantranch is a first class operation with first quality plants and the personal service I received from Darin was outstanding. I would highly recommend Plantranch.

As an e-bay seller myself, I am careful, I research, review, and read feedback and make my decisions. There really was no hope, (as far as I could tell), for any other on-line greenhouse. So I ordered. I asked them to hold the order, (about 2 months from time of purchase I believe) FOLLOWED his instructions, and they were received on the DAY I requested. 4 wisteria, which where just planted a month ago, are already climbing my deck railing! My living willow arch - you have to see that - has new buds, and the trumpet vines are just as healthy. Darin goes out of his way, a true gentleman to deal with. Works with you 100%. Placing another order already lol. He is very specific in his ads,and stands by his product, and more importantly, his word. My thanks to this very fine company!

I placed a small order of evergreen trees to try out this company. They were about plug size but I expected that for the price I paid. The trees were placed in a box and bent so they would fit. The evergreen tree tops were completely dried out. The roots were still wet as they had been wrapped in wet newspaper with a plastic bag over the root systems.(That was fine) Some of the trees had great root systems most did not. The redwoods lacked needles on arrival. I soaked and planted them anyway. They died. It is not worth mailing the dead plants back with the shipping and packing charges. I tried e-mailing but there appears to be a form e-mail that is sent to everyone. It was something about e-bay and that they would leave a good reply after I left a good reply. I do not use e-bay so I had no idea what this meant. I would not buy from them again. Shipping time was fine and the products were all sent correctly but I was not impressed with the condition of the plants. It is not a good deal if the plants do not live.

I have wanted to buy from this company many times because of the glowing reports here. However, he does not list scientific names (many plant descriptions don't mention cultivar names either) on any of his plants at the website, nor does he have an easy to read catalog. As a result, I really have no idea what I am actually getting for a number of plants that are offered.

For example, a buckeye is listed for sale, but it doesn't say which one nor does it give any zone information. If this is an Ohio buckeye (Aesculus glabra), then it won't work in my southeastern zone 8a. But, if it's Aesculus pavia, it will. Same thing for the serviceberry and with many of the other plants offered. The "asian jasmine" is either confederate jasmine based on the picture and description, or the picture and description are wrong. Regardless, one would have no idea what they are really buying since there are no latin names associated with the plants nor would they know whether it would grow in their area.

Instead, the website pegs out the glitzometer with all sorts of extraneous things happening that distract from getting what little information is available from the website. Even though the prices are low, there are better places to order from in my opinion.
