Comments regarding Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Co.

Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds is very fast at replying to e-mailed questions. At one of the busiest times of the year for the seed companies (the month of April), my very large seed order was promptly and efficiently filled (4 days after I mailed it!), with ONLY ONE item unavailable and 4 items back-ordered! In all, it only took about 8 business days for my well-packed order to arrive (regular parcel post), and I should be receiving the remainder of my order very soon. I couldn't wait to leave a comment on how satisfied I am; at this time of year, I wasn't expecting to have all of the items available (with the exception of one which was limited quantity)! I can't wait to plant them!!!!!

But, according to their reputation, they have some of the best seeds around!] Highly recommended, they ONLY carry seeds that are non-hybrid & non-GMO, with many rare varieties available nowhere else!

I placed my first order with Baker Creek this year and within 3 days I had my order! Their catalog is impressive.. tons of melon, pepper, and tomatoe varieties. Tons of unique and cool stuff you don't see everyday. They also offer Asian and European heirlooms. Baker creek is a big advocate for heirloom seed and are against all Biotechnology/GMO foods.

More than helpful, giving that extra customer service that is so rare today. When I wanted to add another item to my order (which was shipped out within a few hours after they took it!), they shipped it out immediately and didn't even charge for the postage! These are real professionals who really know their stuff, but seem so homey that they could have a store in Mayberry. Great experience!!!

This is my FAVORITE Seed Catalogue of all!! I have purchased wonderful, really rare seeds from them for several years. Very good quality seeds, and good service. Fast shipping. Fabulous catalogue that has evolved over the years to get better and better.You won't find a better selection of open pollinated and untreated seeds anywhere.Tomato and eggplant selection is one of the best for fine heirlooms and rare foreign seeds. All my plants grew very well from their seed. Book prices were the best I found on those I purchased. My only complaint was that they were shipped in a plain manila envelope that came torn with slight damage to the books. Also seeds would be better if shipped in padded envelopes. This is the friendliest company , with the highest quality seeds, I have ever dealt with and I have purchased alot of seeds from many other companies over the years. I only wish I lived nearer to them so I could attend their great sounding Planting festival and Heirloom Garden shows.

I'm SOLD on Baker Creek. They made a simple mistake on quantity on my first order - they sent me a packet instead of 1/4 oz. of Black Krim Tomato Seed. I emailed them and they IMMEDIATELY emailed me back. To correct it they sent me ONE OUNCE of seed...that is around 8,000 seeds! I wrote them telling them I hoped they made a mistake on one of my orders again soon so I could get their fantastic customer service! Fast, Friendly, Customer Focused. I'm ordering from these folks again!

It is refreshing to see a company that has so many ,,heirlom plants effective ,seeds and quick shiping .
I beleive in more gardeners should reveiw there seeds it is
worth your time and money . My only comment is the lay out
of there catolog it is a little confusing at time's but
wonderful ,,products and people !

I ordered a variety of seeds from Baker Creek a few weeks ago, and mailed my order with a check. It seemed like I received my order the next day- it was incredibly fast. I love their catalog, my only complaint is that there are too many interesting varieties for me to plant them all! I really like that they give interesting and informative descriptions. I have spoken to them on the telephone, and they were quite courteous, and answered many questions I had about various cultivars. I couldn't be more pleased with them. If the seeds perform as well as the people do, then I have found a new favorite mail order company!

Baker Creek was wonderful to deal with. Yes, they were out of some of the seeds I wanted, but there are so many choices it wasn't hard to choose something else. And I too was impressed with the amount of seed in each package. Many companies give such small amounts that I've ended up with almost no plants after poor germination. Baker Creek's germination rates are great too. This is my second year ordering, and I expect I'll be impressed again.

I ordered a very large selection of seeds from them. My order arrived promptly (within a week). They were out of one kind of seed and as soon as they got it in, I received it within a couple of days. Excellent prices, excellent service!

I snail mailed my order on January 11th(Saturday) and my order arrived on January 17th!!!!! Wow!!!!!! In all the years I have gardened I have never seen such a fast turnaround. One of the more than 20 items I ordered was, with my prior approval, substituted with a similar and more expensive item at no extra cost to me. This was my second year ordering from them. Huge and interesting heirloom veggie selection--the eggplant section alone is amazing. Delivery has been quick, germination excellent. I only wish they'd be faster sending their catalogs--the online version was up for weeks this year before the paper version arrived.

This was my 2nd year ordering from Baker Creek Heirlooms. On both ocassions I ordered by phone. They were very nice and extremely friendly. I recieved my order promptly and it was well packaged. I like the fact that they carry seeds that no one else has at a fair price.

I ordered seeds and plants from Baker Creek last year, and was quite pleased. The selection of rare heirlooms is fantastic, their descriptions are excellent, the seeds grew well, I had very good yields, and their prices are reasonable.

I am hoping they sell plants again this year, as I was particularly pleased with the way the tomatoes I ordered performed.

I will be ordering a variety of seed from them for 2003.

I like the selection of rare seed varieties they have. They have good varieties. I think they are the only company in the U.S. that have the old varieties of seed. They have the largest selection of Eggplants,melons,watermelons and tomatoes I have ever seen. I like how they give you free seeds when you order from them.

I ordered from Baker last year for the first time — heirloom tomato and squash seeds — and I was pleased with both the promptness with which I received my order and the substitutions Baker sent for the cultivars they had sold out of by the time they received my order. I did have trouble germinating a few of their tomatoes, and others came up chlorotic initially, but I don't know if this was owing to a snafu with Baker's seed prepping or a snafu on my end. Definitely a company I will try again.

Recently we had the pleasure of visiting the Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Store and farm in rural southwestern Missouri. First off, you should know this is a "mom and pop" family operation without the vast resources of a Park Seed Company! What an experience to browse the store and its seed bins of delight and suprise! We could tell Jere and his family put a tremendous amount of effort into the store. But what I really would like to do is thank everyone associated with Heirloom Seed's sponsorship of their recent Heirloom Garden Show. Imagine two days of presentations/lectures by nationally-known gardners and resource people, no entry fee, ample parking, great highway signage to the site, display booths, musicians, sales area and snack bar!!! Check with Heirloom Seeds to obtain details of next year's show - I think they all survived...but what an effort! Our drive from east-central Illinois was well worth it. Excellent to do business with! Ordered quite a bit of seeds which came in very expeditiously. In addition, this company added several other variety of seeds to my order as freebies! I highly recommend this company to all gardeners.

What a terrific selection...i purchased several seeds and not only did i receive these, but they sent along a freebie!! the melon seeds have popped up only after a few days in the ground....i'll be back again!!

There were so many seeds to choose from, that I wasn't sure where to begin! My order came promptly. I did notice that a few packs of seeds were open and mixed in the large manilla enevelope, but I decided to sort through them and it should be interesting to see what is what. I also received a credit slip for a few items that were out of stock. For the size of the order I placed, two or three items being out of stock, seemed like nothing! I was impressed. I e-mailed Jere to let him know that I would like my credit amount placed back on my credit card. The very next day I recieved 2 emails telling me that my credit amount, plus a little extra (maybe for the open packs of seeds???) was credited to my card. I haven't had the chance to start germinating yet, maybe this weekend. It gets chilly up by the Canadian border so I don't want to push it! I'm very excited about these Heirloom seeds and I'm sure my order next time will be even bigger yet!

I recently had the pleasure of doing business with Jere of Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Co. I ordered a large number of seed packets, only a few of which were sold out. I plan to make a note of these varieties to order early next year....they must be particularly good!

I was very satisfied with the large number of seeds received in each packet, and have been extremely satisfied with my high germination rate.

I received a credit slip for a couple of packets that were sold out. A simple e-mail requesting a different packet was promptly replied to by Jere, stating that the packet would be sent to me ASAP with no additional shipping charge.

I ordered a hard copy catalog for myself and for my gardening friends because I am very satisfied with my experience with Baker Creek, and plan to order from them again.

Ordering was difficult only because of the choices! Best selection I have seen for heirloom and rare seeds. My order was processed quickly and accurately. Everything arrived in perfect condition just as I ordered it. Although I have not yet started all of my seed varieties (a little early for this far north) those I have germinated have had an excellent survival rate. This was a "test" order, next year my order will be MUCH larger!

I purchased a good variety of veggie seeds from them. Their winter squash selection was good, and the prices are very reasonable. They sold me 1/4 pound of Danvers carrot seed for $3 (!), it arrived in a massive packet. They included two bonus packets of seed (one squash and one tomato) free in the order. I received my seeds less than 1 week after I sent the order in! Very nice service from a serious heirloom/OP/non-GMO seed company. I'll be ordering all my veggies from BakerCreek next year.

I ordered tomato and pepper seeds froms several sources this spring. The quantity of seed I received from Baker Creek was outstanding, and the germination has been very good. My order was processed and shipped promptly. The only negative - I wish I had known they were out of one variety, as I would have chosen something other than the substitute they included. All in all, I will definitely order from them again, and recommend them as a great value and very good selection.

We have dealt with Baker Creek heirloom seeds for 2 years. The people are polite and helpful; the seeds are not expensive, and always produce. It's a wonderful Company!!!

This companys selection of open polinated veggies is fantastic. They don't just have one or two they have a good half dozen per veggie!

They had no problem doing bulk orders for my farm, and the seed all had high germination rates & was true to name. [Not always the case w/ other heirloom offerings in other catalogues.]

Excellent small company that specializes in heirloom plants! Many hard to find varieties that have reentered commerce! Try their Greenwich ( a green variety of tomato ) that for taste is out of this world... and very prolific..did I mention prolific! mmmmmmmmmmmm! delicious!
