I have ordered from this strange outfit three times. The first time was fine. The second time, they were about to send the order a month late, so I cancelled it. This year, I received a microscopic collection of hair-thin "roots" and decided not to order again. In any case, I'm a bit skeptical about "nativism." Are plants that are native to the Great Plains really "native" to my New England state? But that's another subject.

In response to my comment, Prairie Moon kindly offered me a $25 credit, which, as I calculate it, will get me five more tiny sprouts of carex pensylvanica. I really do appreciate the attempt, but I've opted against it.

We appreciate all feedback even if not positive. I have reached out via email to kolomikta and hopefully we will be able to solve the problem. Our website shows a photo of the "minimum" size of all the bare root plants we offer. We will certainly replace/refund anything that is undersized or fails to grow. Plant origin is an important subject and we have maps showing the native range of all the species we sell. Guess I'll take that "strange outfit" comment as a compliment :) "

I ordered a tray of seedlings in the dead of winter. 6 different plants, a total of 36. Due to a miscommunication they were shipped in May when I had told them not to ship since my house was empty. Upon arriving home, I found my plants, box upside down, on my front step. A lot of the plants had fallen out of the tray, and some were so small that for one second I thought they were weeds. I put everything back in the tray, right side up, with some potting mix added where lost. I left the whole tray outside to enjoy a day of cool rainy weather. Many plants are yellow or brown but I hope their roots managed to survive.

I only placed a 27 live plants in the ground. This includes the New Jersey tea which were so small and packed in so little soil from the Trip I thought they were weeds at first, and from my own germination experience don't hold out much hope. Nice of merchant to offer to replace, first I heard.

Hi Rpeazalea,
I have reviewed the communication you have had with our company. As you know, we were not contacted about holding your order until after the plants shipped. You also expressed concern at that time about freezing temperatures in your area which may have contributed to the poor shape they are in. It's unfortunate that sometime UPS does not bother to properly handle boxes. I'm sure you noticed how well they were marked with arrows showing which side should be up. Prairie Moon Nursery will replace or refund any plants that do not grow. Just let us know ASAP and we will take care of it. I'm sorry for your disappointment. Our goal is always to have 100% satisfaction. Thanks, Bill"

Everything I have read about Prairie Moon Nursery has been positive. However, most of what I have read has referred to plants. I ordered $50 worth of seeds (25 species) for my nursery and across the board I have had very poor germination rates even after stratification. Their selection is great, and the quality is poor. I will never order seeds from them again.

Hi Nativeblooms,
I'm sorry to hear of your difficulty in getting some of our seed to germinate. Can you please contact us 866-417-8156 Ext. 210 or bill@prairiemoon.com Our goal is to do the best we can to have no unsatisfied customers. A number of the species we offer can be difficult to germinate. In the future we plan to specifically mention the difficult species which may require fall planting outside.
Thanks, Bill"
