Comments regarding Dutch Gardens

This year I ordered my spring flowering bulbs from Dutch Gardens. My Dutch Garden order came two weeks ago and I was able to take advantage of the great warm weather to dig up places for the HUMONGOUS bulbs that came for the tiny, blooming daffodil collections. The bulbs were larger than expected for the daffodils; all the others looked very healthy and of good size. Each pack came with a colorful picture of the flower on the sack, complete with great planting instructions, that when combined with the wonderful catalog, gives more than adequate information for the placement, bloom times, and moisture requirements of the different bulbs. If I have any more space, I would definitely order from them again. The biggest savings is in time and travel. You don't have to go all over town checking out nurseries or other suppliers like the Big Box stores. So you can design your garden additions and then just order. And Dutch Gardens sends you a confirmation card so you recheck your order.

I placed a large order with them and received healthy and good sizes bulbs and tubers. I will order from them again.

I am a landscaper and order from this company. They are great. The quality of bulbs is unsurpassed along with the price. I can buy wholesale at a fraction cheaper than them but I like the way the catalog and packaging comes. I even recommend at my seminars people look no farther than Dutch Gardens for bulbs.

I got bulbs from them with some friends from work, to get a large combined order. I was very pleased. Bulbs were of good size, fresh and firm.

I have ordered from this company to add to my daffodil collection and I have had the most wonderful success with all the bulbs and a glorious Spring garden this year. I can not attest to any other plant except daffodils , which I will use this company again for bulbs this Fall.

I ordered over 100 bulbs from Dutch Gardens last year -- glory-of-the-snow, crocuses, dwarf irises, daffodils, hyacinths, and grape muscari. The catalog had excellent pictures and the prices were quite reasonable compared to other places. The bulbs were in good health upon arrival. Customer service gave me some suggestions for protection against rodents and very helpful planting advice. The only bulbs which didn't come up very well were the dwarf irises and a few hyacinths. They gave me credit with no questions asked. The successful flowers were enormous and beautiful and blooming well after my neighbors' flowers had given out. I think they are worth recommendation.

I have been ordering from Dutch Gardens for over 10 years now. I notice their tulip prices have gone up a little but still a good buy. I have had pretty good luck with their perennials. Had 3 rodgersias that died but they replaced them and were very nice about it. The only minor flaw I can think of, sometimes they ship things a little too early for my zone.

I was extremely pleased with the Bulb order I received from Dutch Gardens in fall of 1998. One thing that pleased me was the size and health of the bulbs. Another was that I got the number of bulbs I ordered plus extra, smaller bulbs, and double daffodils, for the already economical price. The third thing that pleased me was that the bulbs came early so they were able to get well established before winter.

I ordered 4 hostas - all were received in good condition. Each had 2 or more eyes. Price was good too. Will order what I can from them this year.

I have been ordering from Dutch Gardens since 1983 and have been pleased for the most part with their bulbs. They are definitely the most economical, make few (actually can't remember any) order mistakes. About the only thing negative I have to say is that the perennials I've ordered through them have usually not grown/lived, so I usually avoid. I would guess 70-85% of their bulbs do well/bloom.

I was very pleased with Dutch Gardens prices and packaging and health of bulbs. Easy to read growing instructions. The bulbs arrived in clean boxes and in good condition. I could fine no other catalog, bulb or flower that could beat their price. They are willing to sent the bulbs and give you a chance to see them before you have to paid the invoice.

I have ordered from Dutch Gardens for several years. Bulbs are great and the perennials have been good quality and vigorous growers. My only disappointment was with a tall bearded iris order. The ones that arrived were of good quality. When I called and reported some seemed to be missing, their representative seemed unconcerned. Nonetheless, I would definitely order from them again.

A co-worker recommended Dutch Gardens to me. I placed an order for somewhere around 300 daffodils and tulips. They were HUGE bulbs, and not a sign of mold on one of them! If that wasn't enough, their prices were very competitive with all the other companies I had dealt with and they had the same type of guarantee (replace or refund, your choice). Everything looked just great the following season. I continued to look to their catalogue before I ordered anything from someone else. They have terrific oriental and Asiatic lilies as well--do wish they had more perennials. I have ordered (in lesser quantities) from them every year--I don't think you can beat their price and size--and wrote to them just once a couple of years back. I had ordered some bulb that was offered in groups of three. I told them that of all the bulbs I had ordered in previous years, this was my only "loss". Out of a group of 3 bulbs, 1 had failed to bloom. Actually, I meant it as a compliment-not a complaint. They turned around and sent me 3 bulbs as a replacement. How can you possibly beat that?

I have ordered from Dutch Gardens and have nothing but high praise for the company their product and their service. The bulbs were of very high quality and when I did have a problem they offered me money back or re-ship. I have also ordered from wayside Gardens and the former opinion refers to them as well. I have recently ordered from a web site http://www.ioa.com----Singletree Farms, Wonderful web site all hostas. don't know about their product yet. I didn't see them on your list. You can print their list and or their directory if toy choose.

The bulbs I ordered from Dutch Gardens were smaller in size [than WFF], but I couldn't tell a difference in their bloom quality, both were the same…

Others have already mentioned their healthy supply and wonderful service. An additional note : I ordered their Eenie Weenie daylilies from their spring catalog for my container planting in Spring 97. It bloomed okay, and I was content until I found that Oakes daylilies ship really huge plants! So I don't think I'll get daylilies from Dutch Gardens again. Someone else had mentioned about the Dahlia nightmare in window boxes - yep , it happened to me too - grew too tall and didn't flower! But overall, I've been pleased with their stuff and hope to order regularly from the - esp. the tulips, daffodils, scilla etc.

A really good bulb company (mail order) is Dutch Gardens - huge bulbs, very fresh and at a fair price. And Dutch Gardens has an excellent catalog - gorgeous photos and lots of info.

For bulbs use Dutch Gardens.

Although you will not find many of the new and "fancy" bulbs I find that Dutch gardens has the best prices and I have never been dissatisfied with the product.

I've also been ordering with a group of friends (to get the 10% discount) from the Dutch Gardens catalog. I was very pleased this spring with the show produced from their bulbs. The only bulbs that failed were ones that were iffy for my zone anyway on top of one colder than usual winter. I've put in quite a few spring bulbs from their catalog and the liatris, the lilies and the gladiolus nanas are all beginning to come up already. You can't beat their prices and their product is extremely reliable.

I have been ordering spring flowering bulbs from them for years now and have always gotten top-rate merchandise. Daffodils are often triple nose. One year, a giant alliums did not bloom but that was so long ago, I can't remember whether they replaced it or refunded the money. In any case, I've never been dissatisfied. Recommend highly.

I placed my first Dutch Gardens order last summer with a group of my new neighbors. This made for lots of fun, the ability to share larger savings, and some freebies as well. The bulbs arrived on schedule and were beautiful--large and no moldy ones. Better than any I've ordered before--even ones I selected and shipped on a trip to Holland! Here in the Chicago area we've had a strange spring and I was concerned about the failure of my crocus to emerge, even though the tulips were getting close to bloom. Lo and behold--today they showed themselves. By my count almost everything is up (barring some doffs in the cold and damp northern extremes of the yard) and looking good--even after the record cold wave, a dry winter and a wet spring. I'll order here again!

My Father-In-Law first turned me on to Dutch Gardens, shortly after his eldest daughter and I tied the knot. Thirteen years and three homes later, we are still ordering our bulbs and perennials from these nice people, and have yet to experience and unresolvable problem yet. You see, the material we receive is usually very, very good, and even the one or two times it hasn't been, a call to Dutch Gardens Customer Service has corrected the problem with minimal effort or loss of planting time. In general, Dutch Gardens merchandise is large and healthy; in particular, I believe Dutch Gardens's daffodils and lilies are among the finest anywhere. I heartily recommend this company to both experts and novices alike.

Dutch Gardens specializes in bulbs, and I have been VERY happy with EVERYTHING I ordered from them. The ONLY thing that didn't grow well for me was Foxtail Lilies, & I was pushing the hardiness on those, so it's not their fault.

Quality has already been amply attested to. My story is about failing to pay them. Wrote the check, forgot to mail it. Lo comes the next spring and I phone in my order. The lady at the other end pauses a moment, then says: "And when you make out your check, would you mind adding the $106 from last June?" What class!

Thank you for helping me find Dutch Gardens again. I used to order all my bulbs from them about seven or eight years ago. I have been moving around since then and didn't want to order until I was stable. All the spring planting bulbs I have received from them have been of the best quality and very large size. The dahlias have been awesome! I found their name and address on your list and truly appreciate the lead.

I have ordered bulbs from Dutch Gardens for a number of years. Their bulbs are always top quality (daffodils are frequently triple-nosed, for example). I have only had minor problems twice and both times the problem was corrected promptly. I haven't found better prices, either.

I have ordered both bulbs and perennials from Dutch Gardens and have had no problems with performance from either. Bleeding Hearts stormed out of the beds, bloomed beautifully & held their foliage till the freeze. Liatris was spectacular it's first year out. I have also planted lots of lillybells and allium unifolium with great results. The puschkinia did not do as well, even though the bulbs multiplied like crazy. Their catalogs are great resources, even if you don't order.

I have been buying bulbs from Dutch Gardens for about 15 years. They have the best bulbs for the best price and they are the nicest people to deal with. I recommend their daffodils in particular. I have also bought their Siberian iris and they have done well. Rarely, if ever, I have had a problem. If so, they just give me a credit. Can't ask for more.

I have been ordering from the Dutch Gardens catalog for 3 years now. I live in San Diego and this is not the most favored climate for bulbs. Nevertheless I have nothing but great results from this ordering house. My dahlias are on their 3rd season in the ground and have produced the same output every year with no slowdown.

I have found Dutch Gardens to be the most economical place to get bulbs. They are wholesale prices but there is a minimum order. The bulbs from Dutch Gardens are topsize bulbs.

The catalog is full color, often full page photo of plant/flower. Looking at it is just a pleasure. They send out a Spring Planting catalog and Fall Planting catalog. They mainly have bulbs and plants like Hostas, Astilbes,etc. and onion sets. Bulbs are large, good quality as are the Hostas, Ferns, etc. You can order singly or have a group order. Excellent prices. Good planting information. Highly recommended. I have ordered from them often.

have ordered bulbs from several mail-order companies and D.G. is my favorite. Prices are good, especially on their "deals". Bulbs are large and healthy.

I always get my bulbs here if I'm ordering a relatively small number. The quality is superb and the selection much better than Breck's. At the very least, get the catalog. The beautiful photos will inspire you all winter.

Dutch Gardens produces a wonderful catalog full of big glossy photos in spring and fall. They specialize in bulbs, but also offer some perennials, which I haven't tried. I have ordered from them several times over the last two years and their bulbs always arrive looking fresh, healthy and generous in size. They describe the size categories of various offers clearly, which explains why prices vary and helps in making choices. Most of my daffodils and lilies are from Dutch Gardens and I look forward each spring to greeting the new plantings and watching the older ones get bigger, better and prettier year by year.

Good selection of basic Holland bulbs; good prices, esp. in quantity (group order program esp.). Excellent color catalog with pictures of all cultivars. Highly recommend.
